Who let the dogs out, cause they sure aren't there anymore. There are rabbits, fish and such, but no pooches. Oh well...

Monster Pets is one of the best pet stores i've ever been too. They have everything u need, (unlike petco) , its nice and clean, they take good care of their animals (unlike petco) , the staff is very nice nd friendly and they always help as much as they can. The only thing is, I think the staff needs to study more about the animals and reptiles. I only say that because their was only one guy there that knew what he was talking about when I asked for advice about my ball python. The other staff would give me false advice. I test them sometimes just to see if they know, because me and my husband has studied snakes and especially ball pythons, for the last couple years. Besides that little problem. Monster Pets is still the only pet store I go too. It is one of the best. I wouldn't go to any other pet store, only Monster pets.

None of the employees were wearing masks...checking out, no masks....asking questions, no masks. Their masks were either off or dangling from their faces. Felt very unprofessional. Unsafe environment during a pandemic.

The staff are so laid back, its hard to get help that wants to help... the prices are higher then other competitors as well the total presentation wasnt good

Great store ,I always buy my bunnies from here & I love them with all my heart .I have brought a sick bunnies from here before which is a negative also they do need to educate themselves on small animals and not sale small animal cages

The information that the lady gave me that works in the fish department was wrong she told me that the fish would only last 45 minutes in the plastic bag and that's not true she needs to learn more about the fish because I was so scared that they were going to die from what she told me I got the fish at 6:30 p.m. and my sponsor didn't put the fish in her tank until 10 p.m. that night and they're doing fine so far so I just hope that she doesn't tell anybody else that.

So, while this place has (sometimes?) what you need, I think it's kind of overpriced. Workers kind of ignore you, some are joking around a little too much to just be "having a good time" at work, but some are friendly and helpful. The one thing that really REALLY bugs me, is the cat area. There are 4 cat cubes. They have less than 10 square feet to play around in, and it's only like 3 feet high. Not right. And the one time I went in, one of the cats was sleeping in their litterbox, and its nose was covered in litter - like litter was dried to it. I told a worker, and he brushed it off and was like, "oh they sometimes like to sleep in their litter because it's comforting. The nose? Oh, uh. Oh." And just went back to whatever he was doing. I went back up to the cats almost in tears. I actually emailed my vet to see if this was okay, and obviously they told me how this place is always on the watchlist for pets and stuff. So sad.

Didn't really have a lot of animals there. But they had more of fish

Staff is always a little out there, but they are REALLY nice people. They have live crickets/worms/mice for your pets. That is really the only place around for that. I always shop here for my beardie.

Apart from the rude staff, they are not wearing masks. I understand it might be a little difficult to breathe or in this weather it gets hot under the masks but employees should not be wearing their masks around their necks as decoration. I have came here I'd say 4 times in the past two weeks and the issue is on going. I have submitted a complaint to the department of health.

Need more then I Philadelphia store to sell rats for snakes

I travel from North Philly down to south for this pet store. The staff are happy to help and knowledgeable. There are many decoration and plants (aquatics) that I couldn't find at PetSmart or Petco! Delaware avenue during rush hour is worth it to me, and I would recommend it to any of my friends.
Plus the bettas are kept in their own tanks and not a tupperware container like other places.

Place went far downhill. Reptiles aren t cared for it seems. I bought a leopard gecko from here about three months ago, there were two of them in the tank at the store. The other one has yet to been sold, and hasn t grown at all where as the one I bought has almost quadrupled in weight and grown about 3 inches. I came here to get feeders for mine in a pinch. I asked for 20 meal worms and got what looks like 15 and it looks like at least three are dead. The most cared for animal in the store is the gargoyle
Gecko they keep in the front of the store for display only . Their small animals are all over crowded, birds are in these tiny cages. Reptiles are cared for horribly and in such small tanks. They have a full grown bearded dragon in what looks to be a 15 gallon tank. The employees are young and seem to be very uninformed on the care of reptiles. The only way I would buy anything from here again is out of sympathy for the animal, but I would be worried about parasites. If you want a good exotic pet store, go to Ill exotic on passyunk ave. If you need cat or dog supplies just go to pet smart or order offline it s far cheaper.

Went back to the store today in a pinch to get cat food, happy to say it seems to have improved a little bit, adjusted my rating accordingly.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Extremely rude staff. I was here multiple days in search for bunnies. Mind you I have pretty good knowledge on how to take care of bunnies. I used to help my landlord with his a couple years back. Anywho, upon arrival there was 3 bunnies. 2 black and 1 white. My boyfriend chose the white one & even then it was not active at all. It would hardly move. We were coerced to buy a $200 cage after telling an employee that we already had a pretty big cage at home (I was well prepared to receive our new bunny). He said bunnies need "bigger" cages as if he had already seen ours. When checking out the blonde girl did not give us even a brief sentence on how to take care of the bunny (which again no biggie bc i have prior experience) all she said was "the only way you can return it is if it dies just bring it back". That was all. I get home with my boyfriend and Oreo (bunny) and well the bunny was doa. I don't understand why. The next day (7/9/20) i bring the dead bunny back to the store in hopes of getting another one instead my hopes were crushed by the owner of the store practically accusing me of killing Oreo. When that was no where near my intentions. She was visibly upset that i didnt call to report the death of the bunny. Which i did not because by the time i got home i assumed the store was closed based of off google. I work 7-3 , with no time to make personal phone calls. I got to the store at around 4:15. I went straight after work. Her anger towards me was unnecessary and very unprofessional.The blonde employee made no mention of making a phone call all she said was bring the bunny back which is exactly what i did. If i was some psychopath who actually killed the bunny i dont think i would have brought it back to the store ? It's just common sense. They refused to give me store credit to open the possibility of me getting another bunny. With their cage and bunny they robbed me $280 (w tax). Refusing to give me at least store credit.

How is me repeating I left the store, got home, upon opening the box the rabbit was dead, 3 different stories? Your employee made no mention of making any phone calls. She said, and I repeat "The only way we will exchange it is if it dies JUST BRING IT BACK". Let's say I did call, you guys were going to tell me to just bring it back in the next day which is essentially what I did! I have provided a screenshot of your hours clearly stating 6. This is exactly the truth of what happened. Call me whatever you want, but I WILL NOT be called a liar. This is how you conduct business? I hope you enjoy my money and hopefully you will put it to good use and actually take care of your rabbits, that's why they're dying because of your improper care.

Great prices for pet food. Better that the competition

Love it here!!!! They have a huge selection which contains my dog's food brand that nobody else around here carries. The associates are so nice and kind always willing to help and give a treat. We met the owner she was absolutely divine so sweet and she just loved our basenji puppy. The store is walking distance for us so we now only go here for all our puppy and kitten needs. Highly recommend!!!

Very great place...the employees are very nice and extremely helpful. I had such a great experience there. I would definitely recommend this place. I purchased a rabbit here it was the last one and they held it for me until I got there. I thought that was the nicest thing anyone could have done. Thank you both for your kindness.

Low prices and the only place that has what i specifically need for my snake.

It's a good store, staff is friendly. Currently they don't have any fish in stock - should be there in a week or two.

Absolute favorite place to go for my pets. The prices aren't bad and the employees are knowledgeable about the animals unlike some other pet stores. I go every week for a feeder mouse and crickets and the staff is always very friendly and helpful keep up the great work

I have always had good service here. I bought a baby ferret and had her only 3 months before she died of Lymphosarcoma. But that was not the store's fault.

It seems the selection of wet cat food has been decreasing - I always buy Nestle-Purina Fancy Feast 3 oz cans, and recently they have NOT had a good selection of the Fancy Feast Classic Feast flavors.

Great variety of fish... The renovations are great!

First time I went here for live aquarium plants, and they didn't have any. Next time I went here to get Revolution flea medicine and they didn't have that either. They don't carry the cat food brands I buy either. On the plus side, the store is kept clean, there's a good selection of pets for purchase and adoption. They do some adoption programs as well.

Friendly staff, interesting selection of fish and animals.

Please beware! I purchase a ferret from this location about three days ago and the poor guy has ear mites! I do not have a dog or a cat. The only animal I have are a fish and a turtle so there is no way the ferret got it after I purchased him. When I called monster pets to let then aware of the situation, they told me oh there is nothing we can do for me however if you want, we have medicine to treat the ear mites. I took my ferret to the vet today, to get him treated which costed 178.00.

Store is scheduled to close at 6 pm, I arrived at 5:50 and the doors were locked. Associate just looked and shrugged.

Being my first time visiting the pet shop was a nice place to visit again the people was very respectful found the fish that i was looking for for those cichlid lover and like the rock krebensis cichlid love those fish thank you

Do a good job with there selection of man's best friend. They can be busy and you then have to track down staff.

My stepdaughter bought a bird today three hours it dies

So me and my daughter waited for more than 25 minutes before someone came to help us. I had to literally scream to the back for someone to come help us. 1 worker was out on the floor as a cashier. And everyone else was blatantly ignoring us. That was horrible.

Not great. Customers not wearing masks properly (under the nose/top lip or under the chin with whole face exposed) and none is the staff was telling them to pull the masks up. Definitely didn't feel comfortable in there

Terrible customer service does not speak when u walk into the business and has one person in each department which means u must wait 15 minutes for 10 feeder fish sad

Theybhave a wide variety of products for all pets, but they didn't have any toys tough enough for my dogs chewing habits. They have super cute baked dog treats!! But every time I go in there their employees are kind of rude.

I just went there recently to purchase a small pet and the young lady was very vert attentive it was Thursday at about 9:05 am she showed me everything that had and never was mad about all the questions I asked I left with a ferret and everything he needed he is doing great by the way..... Chris who manages the fish area is hands down the man. While multitasking cleaning aquariums, adding fish too aquariums, and directing staff, he actually took the time out for me several times to educate me and help me. I was at the store on Friday and bought 2 cichlids fish and was so amazed with the remodeled store and the great selection Of fish I had seen that I returned on Sunday to buy 2 more. I told Chris I would be back and that I would tell everyone great things about this store and for me to say that is HUGE. My friends call me Debbie Downer so if I haven t found anything wrong you should know it s as close to perfection as I could imagine. You don t have to go the the New Jersey Aquarium to see great fish you can just go to Monsters Pets in Philly!!

I used to buy fish here all the time. They'd die in about a week. No monsters were present though.

When u go there u almost can anything u looking for ur animals

Remodeled looks great but a lil to dark in the fish area. Could barely see the products names. Still great selection of cichlids and so.e other exotics. Wolf fish are amazing.

I'm a bit biased because I hate pet stores that perpetuate the business of the cruel pet industry. But I understand you need to shop there at times. And I understand wanting a companion animal that you might not be able to adopt. But this place, i've seen the staff are not knowledgeable about their animals, and the cages are often neglected. There was a beautiful couple of parrots there, starving for affection, but completely ignored being in the bottom row of cages. They had dirty water and the food bowls were empty. Broke my heart. Wish I could've taken them home... but then a new pair would be right back where they were shortly after, just as neglected.
