Unbelievable! In an emergency situation, I couldn't get pre authorisation for my hospital visit. It states that a family member or friend should contact Momentum on the first working day after the incident, which they did. Then when it came down to my claim, they rejected it, because I didn't get pre authorisation (while in an emergency situation) Even though the hospital is a part of the medical network! Paying the amount a month that I do, just for me to have to pay 100% of my hospital fees as well! What a joke.

I'd never take medical aid with Momentum again, the service is atrocious and their consultants deny all responsibility instead of doing their due diligence. Momentum sends me a final letter of demand threatening to give me a poor credit rating (I didn't receive an initial mail to begin with), 3 months after I cancelled membership. Great way to start off the year Momentum, after you guys screwed up that life policy claim, one would think that you would step up your game yet here you are trying to solicit money from an ex-customer in January, are things that bad that you guys have to go to this extent to increase revenue.

I am a provider. When my practice number changed the banking details remained the same. We sent the relevant documents multiple times. We have made multiple calls to momentum but they refuse to pay the claims we sent under the new practice number. They approved the claims but they do not pay us the money that they owe us. When we speak to the consultants all they tell me is that the money will be paid on the following friday which is the next payment run. Absolutely ridiculous. I have claims as old as August that I am still waiting for payment for.

Had an issue with working through another company ...

Had an issue with working through another company to get Momentum medical aid. Needed medical aid by the first of February, I called Momentum today and Charmaine was very helpful in solving my problem. I should have worked through Momentum directly from the start. Thanks Charmaine!

People have complained about Momentum being one of the worst medical aids, I have been a member for 10 years and haven't had problems.

If you follow the guidelines they give, get your pre-authorisation done for the year before going for any consultation you do get a lot of your money back.

They even paid for preventative surgery when other medical aids won't pay for it at all.

Everything is a constant fight with them, even when I submit authorized procedures supposedly covered by them in full at associated hospitals it never gets fully covered. And best of all, I have to follow up on all of their queries because they rarely do!

Had the worse experience of my life with Momentum. They take forever to get back to you and when you phone they ask for a ref number but never sent you one. I had to wait 3 week for them to get back to me about removing myself as main member and keep my daughter on. Always fighting. My gap cover was cancelled. Waited a month to just get my daughter registered and they wouldn't cover some of her hospital bill due to there being no pre authorization call but I was waiting for them to register her and unfortunately needed brain scans...
They wanted so much information as to why I couldn't afford to keep myself as the main member and wanted reasons as to why it's due to financial reasons. Claims can never be paid back due to some odd reason and when submitting a claim they ask for the same things that were submitted. So incompetent. Wouldn't recommend.

USELESS Medical Aid!!

USELESS Medical Aid!!
I upgraded to a higer plan in order to get a specific codition covered under cronic conditions.
They don't respond to orders from Doctors, eg. my GP called them on January 2020 regarding this condition in order to get it registered as a cronic condition.
We still didn't get any feedback from them and the condition is still not registered as a cronic condition.

When calling you have to hold on for ever. When you eventually get through to a consultant, they are rude and treat you like they doing you a huge favour to assist you!

I wouldn't recommend this medical aid to anybody!
