I Iove this library so much. So big with so much to choose from. I like how there's plenty of seating. I truly love how the library has Catster magazine for you to read and enjoy.

This library is so BIG! The top floor has such a wonderful view and many stations to charge your phones and computers. Any book you need and this library will probably have it.
It is worth it to mention that there are a lot of homeless people there. Nonetheless, most of them are friendly and keep to themselves. There is tons of police officers there so it s not to worry.
Great library with a ton of reference materials and study nooks. Eight floors with an elevator and catalog lookup station on each floor. Parking is available across the street at the corner of 4th and E. San Fernando St. Materials are well organized and lighting turns on when you walk down the aisle. Cafe on the first floor.
One of the biggest libraries out of all the CSUs. Absolutely modern, filled with thousands of books. Next to an excellent walk on SJSU campus, and a great place to study.
The library has 8 floors so there is lots of room and reference materials. Getting to know the library catalog is key to navigating about. Since the library is downtown and it has empty space there can be some people that are found sleeping about while the bathrooms are cleaned they're are sometimes really messy
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library is a public library located in San Jose, California, USA. It was opened on August 1, 2003, and the construction project cost 170 million dollars. Ten thousand U.S. dollars. The building has a total of 9 floors, 8 floors above ground, 1 basement floor, and a construction area of 44,000 square meters. It is the largest library building west of the Mississippi River as of 2007.
The library has a rich collection of about 1.5 million pieces of library materials, including books and various multimedia materials, such as DVDs and audio tapes. In addition, the museum also has several special-purpose exhibition halls, such as the California History Exhibition Hall and Dr. Martin Luther King's Civil Rights Exhibition Hall. The Chinese collection is located on the 3rd floor of the library. It contains about 7,000 Chinese books, as well as American Chinese versions of newspapers and magazines. In addition, there are also a large number of TV series VCDs produced in Taichung and Hong Kong and a small number of Chinese movie VCDs.
My son and i went to the libtary today.
We had 2 min. Left to it closes. And the women who worked there only wrnt up to us to say they are closes. And stayed there beside us harrassing us and thete where other people there and she did not say anything to THEM. And they ARE not the help of tje childrens library.
I was not rude snd we where not bothering anyone! To me it was a racial thing and she was not acting like helpful person in the children's library. I found it very rude and a uneducated act, from the female person.
Great location, within SJSU campus. Plenty of study spaces available, good resources for students and academic events. However the top levels of this building are safer than the rest as this is a public library. Great view from top floor.
This library is huge and they have after hours during finals week.
The cafe down stairs is decent.
The employees are relatively nice.
Did you notice the sinks shrink each floor you go up?
Study time get work done without any problem nice people
Good for a city library which doubles as the library for San Jose State University
Excellent views. Lots of place to work. Huge collection.
Allows public during most of the day
The children's section at the Dr Martin Luther King Library is an excellent place to take your child. There are so many activities for kids to do. Homework Club is 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for grades one through eight. There are generally dozens of San Jose State students that do an excellent job tutoring. I highly recommend that children be helped by other students as I believe they learn more then studying on their own. Once a month, they have movie night on Friday nights in the children's section of the Martin Luther King Library. Some words of caution, most children get absorbed by video games that you're allowed to play on the computers.
Its the largest library in the South Bay and largest of the San Jose Public Library system.
I have seen posts here complaining about the homeless people at MLK library. In all honesty, however, they keep to themselves, and do not smell nor clutter up the common spaces. In fact, the homeless that I have interacted with there tend to be polite, respectful and are genuinely there to use library services such as the computer terminals, dvds, books, newspapers, etc. They are not there just to "shower" in the restroom sinks.
While this branch could definitely benefit the greater community by having later hours, especially on weekends, this is an excellent library to go to-- no matter what you need to get done.
There's fast, free wifi on all 8 floors, plenty of electrical outlets, & plenty of computers with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint; not to mention a state of the art Business Center where any small business owner can use the latest tech and apps to make flyers, websites, invoices and even tax returns, as well as conduct meetings (there's two huge sections full of small meeting rooms, conference tables, white boards, etc on the 3rd floor). Business people can even Skype or Zoom if they need to, using large screen 2017 Mac and Windows desktop computers. And it's all accessible for the price of a library card (free!).
I Luv this library. Lots of reference materials available and a wide variety of books available. You can reserve and checkout materials on their web site. They are open late for SJSU students (Only!) during SJSU finals and various other times when SJSU students need late study hours.
The library has 10 floors, so there is lots of space to find a private study corner, if you desire. In addition, the have private study rooms that are great for groups of people that want this semi-privacy.
My only disappointment is they used to have wired Ethernet connections that provided High Speed internet connections of 30+ Mbps. They Disconnected the wired Ethernet connections, so the only way to connect to the Internet is via WiFi at about 1-2 Mbps.
Huge with tons of categorys and a very intresting collection of newspapers dating back to the 1800
This library has enough spaces to study and 24hour. It has two small cafes on the first floor and the library is open to non-SJSU people too.
Spacious- lots of room for study and nice spot for the kids.
This is a fantastic library overall. My only complaints are that it has inconvenient hours on Sundays and the internet can sometimes be a little spotty. Also, it would be FANTASTIC if they got water bottle filling stations as the current water fountains aren't great at this.
The library has some very respectable resources, and reasonably helpful staff on hand. Unfortunately, most experiences at this library are often marred by the sheer quantity of homeless persons that take shelter in the building during operating hours. I have witnessed sex acts in study rooms, a person urinating in a bottle on the 7th floor (presumably so he wouldn't lose his spot/valuables), and people cleaning themselves in the bathrooms and drying their clothing in the hand dryers (even on the student level). At what point do these disruptions warrant action from the city or University?
This place is a joke. It has become nothing more than San Jose's Homeless Day Shelter. Not one member of the staff could tell me where to find a phone book. A local phone book. They just kept sending me from one floor to another and back again; and, there wasn't a clean place to sit, even if they had one. Food crumbs, smears, and spills on every table and counter. Unidentifiable smears on the seats, some were disgustingly obvious.
Wonderful place. My daughter especially liked the troupe of local actors portraying 'homeless people' on the 3rd floor. Intricately depicting the poor wretched lives of those most forgotten by society.
Then,As if that wasn't enough ' Coutre al Haute. We, were totally taken aback by, the impromptu chorus of 'aspiring rappers' that appeared out of nowhere. In fact one of the members of the troupe, actually mime'd a robbery on us and, made off with both our cellphones. In fact, the rascal made off with my car keys, as well. Now, that's what I call audience Participation! ' They all de'serve some kind of Silicon Valley award, much like, the ones' they give each other, for a variety of accomplishments in 'Silicon Valley'.
Nest pas?
