Yuppy vibe nice to change it up a bit though had a good time
Great bar attached to a nice venue. Has a good outdoor patio that has an overhead projector. Concerts are fantastic
Place is crowded with entitled jerks who forgot manners are a thing.
Excellent!
Size is just right with this place.
Drinks are never far, the show can't be overcrowded, the people are friendly, and the bathroom is close by and single person/locking.
I talked to a stranger at a show I was just at here and it was great 11/10 dont even bother reading more reviews!
(But also the food and regular bar side looked great!)
I love the patio at Bar Bar and we've had some fun at Mississippi Studios.
Cool bar. Good drinks + food. Spacious garden/patio. Can get crowded but it s
Door guys are friendly and acoustics are great. Decent selection of booze on tap and shelf and the food is pretty good too
Great, spacious outdoor seating, pretty chill during the day. Great burger at a ridiculously low price (thank you!). Lots of good beers, craft and good ole fashioned regular beers.
Best venue in town. Great sound, friendly staff and solid lineups.
Hands down my favorite place to go for a burger. Even if I go just for drinks after work, I smell it and have to have it with large Cajun fries. Drinks are well made. Great outdoor seating as well.
Good drinks and great food. Staff is friendly but should communicate better. Studio has phenomenal sound. A must visit.
The burgers are good. They have a huge outdoor seating area.
Usually sounds really good for music. I wish the crowd wasn't so chatty, it's a music venue. Hang out at the back bar if you're going to talk the whole time and spill your drink on me.
Awesome and intimate venue. Be sure to buy tickets in advance, often sells out!
Amazing venue for live music with one of the best sound systems on the west coast.
I love this place. Great venue for live music. Great drink selection, delicious food, indoor and outdoor seating. One of my absolute favorite spots in Portland
Very rude staff. I will not be going back. Kickball team wanted a bar to go to right after games at 5pm but apparently bar bar has enough business that it doesn't want or need at least 30 people (who spend money) to occupy their place of business for 2 hrs. We got the hint Mississippi... You don't want our money.
Small venue but cool place nonetheless to see a show.
great venue although a bit small. Good priced drinks and a great patio
This is one of my favorite venues in Portland to see bands play. It's the kind of location that isn't too big or too small. The sound is generally pretty great and the fact that its connected to bar bar with a huge patio is definitely a plus.
Great outdoor patio space. Relaxed vibe despite being a music venue. Great for large groups.
I went here for the Hippo Campus concert, it's a nice venue, but it's a little too small. Oh well, it's still better than the Star Theater on Burnside Rd.
Great burger at a very fair price. They also have gluten free buns if that's your gig.
I go here for shows. I always have a great time. Have no idea if the food is good in the bar next to the venue.
What great place to see a show. Cool atmosphere, great indoor and outdoor areas. The food is greasy bar food but sometimes that's what you need. I would definitely go back.
Good spot, nice outdoor seating area with heat lamps, and a fire pit. Open late. Good veggie burgers. Really cool spot for live shows.
Great staff, good cocktails. Didn't try the food but it looked good. Good music and environment, lots of seating.
Good food, great spirits, friendly service.. Has outside seating for those days( or nites) you just need to be outside, live music on specified nites and a cozy atmosphere. My kind of dive. But shhhh, don't tell anyone.
Really nice look, great space, excellent music. Decent selection of beers, food looked tasty & a decent portion. Happy hour: pint of beer, pint of cider = $8.
One of my favorite places to see music in town. Fantastic sound and friendly staff.
Great feel to this place and really fast food service! Highly recommend the cajun fries.
This place has a comfortable feeling and is a good looking venue. I went for a show which had good sound and a cool balcony to watch from. The balcony had theatre style seating however they are wood and a bit uncomfortable. Other than that great place that seems to have an eclectic range of shows to see.
Burger and fries weren't thrilling. However, the outdoor area was among the best ever.
This is my favorite venue in Portland. It is intimate, always sounds great, and brings in some incredible talent on the regular.
Sound is really good and there's more bathroom accessibility than any other venue I've been to.
Quaint music space. The sight lines are very good from anywhere. Burgers are very good and the tap list is usually on point.
Excellent venue and bar next door with outdoor seating.
Little too loud at the front, hard to see at the back, not an ideal venue in my opinion. Good bar, good music.
Nice outdoor patio with good burgers, good beer, a friendly clientele, and good jazz!
Great outdoor patio with heaters and fireplace. They also have studio part for concerts.
The burger was one of the better I have had for burger week & I love that they come up with creative ones the other 51 weeks of the year. I dislike the patio as even in the non-smoking area it still wafts over:/
One of the best small venues in town, second only to Doug Fir.
Got to see one of my favorite bands here. Big Business was spot on. The sound was really good here. I was a live sound technician in Portland for a decade and I was impressed. They have a Midas analog board that has been kept in good shape. The sound is just right for the smaller intimate venue. I highly suggest catching a show here if you can. Worth it!
Saw a show here. The food was good, the drinks were good, and the venue was good. If you get there early, you can get seats in the balcony, but beware the far left side was very cold.
Crowded and noisy, with overpriced mediocre food. The drinks were ok though.
Really good burger, fried pickles, shoestring fries, and cool patio area. Gets really busy at times and it makes sense why.
great spot for local and indie acts, with a cozy ramshackle vibe and a great deck with firepits for lounging between sets.
Mississippi Street Fair. Beautiful weather. Easy access into the outdoor venue. Quick service and great music.
Great venue for seeing live music. The bar next door has great outdoor seating with a fire pit and covered seating areas. The burgers are top notch.
Maybe my favorite venue in town. I love having the option to sit up top in the balcony or stand near the stage depending on how I'm feeling and what sort of show it is. Ticket prices are always reasonable and the venue is always clean.
One of my favorite venues. Always fantastic sound, and ticket prices aren't exorbitant. Lots of dinner options on the street for before the show and a stellar beer list at Bar Bar.
Great place for a show, socializing, and burgers! Awesome staff and an intimate music venue.
Love the music live music good people good environment the atmosphere is comfortable and laid-back must do good job keep up the pace of the good entertainment
While the location and movies are great place to interact with friends, the staff lacks basic customer service 101. Our group of nine was verbally harassed by one staff member. He accused us of not following directions when a previous staff member told of something different. He was very confrontational and left an unpleasant taste in our mouths. At the same time, there were dogs in the bar and individuals smoking pot. We will not be returning to this and strongly advise if you want a mellow chill evening out with your friends that you do not go to Bar Bar.
An intimate place to see music acts. The bar food was pretty good too.
Everything is great here. Super chill, nice people, my kind of place
I really enjoyed this bar. If you're looking to get away from the clubbing in downtown, but you still want to enjoy a nice social scene with a good crowd, this is it!
Cool venue with a mezzanine and great sound. Decent bar though it took a while to get a drink.
They did not serve my friend a drink at 1:55am. Unbelievable
Mississippi Studios: A Music Venue in Portland, Oregon
Mississippi Studios is a music venue located in the heart of Portland, Oregon. It is owned and operated by musicians who have a passion for live music and creating an unforgettable experience for their guests. The venue has become a popular destination for both nationally and internationally touring acts as well as local favorites.
The History of Mississippi Studios
Mississippi Studios was founded in 2003 by Jim Brunberg and Kevin Cradock. The two musicians had been playing together since the early 90s and had always dreamed of opening their own music venue. They found the perfect location on North Mississippi Avenue, which at the time was an up-and-coming neighborhood with a vibrant arts scene.
The original space was small but intimate, with room for only about 100 people. However, it quickly became clear that there was a demand for live music in Portland, and Mississippi Studios began to attract larger crowds.
In 2010, Brunberg and Cradock decided to expand the venue by adding Bar Bar next door. This allowed them to offer food and drinks to their guests while still maintaining the focus on live music.
Today, Mississippi Studios has become one of Portland's most beloved venues. It has won numerous awards over the years including "Best Live Music Venue" from Willamette Week's Reader's Poll multiple times.
What Makes Mississippi Studios Unique?
One thing that sets Mississippi Studios apart from other venues is its commitment to showcasing both national acts as well as local talent. While many venues focus solely on bringing in big-name artists from out of town, Mississippi Studios also provides a platform for up-and-coming musicians from around Portland.
Another unique aspect of Mississippi Studios is its dedication to providing an exceptional experience for its guests. From the sound quality to the lighting design to the overall ambiance of the space - every detail has been carefully considered with one goal in mind: creating an unforgettable night out.
Finally, it's worth noting that because this venue is owned by musicians themselves they understand what performers need when they're on stage - good sound quality! So you can expect top-notch acoustics at every show you attend here!
Upcoming Shows at Mississippi Studio
If you're looking for something fun to do this weekend or any other day then check out what shows are coming up at this amazing place!
