Dear dragons, I graduated back in 1983 and as a Texan survived the bitter winters. If you are considering MSU purely from an academic standpoint, which I did, this is the place to be. It prepared me for two additional graduates degrees. My one regret, the school did not publish a student year book.
Spent a year at the MSUM in Moorhead.
Pro's: The Sociology program is fantastic. Dr. Vigilant is very knowledgeable and willing to really explain the 'nitty gritty' of what you are learning. Most of the other teachers are very nice and willing to help. Nice campus, the advisers are friendly and mostly available.
Con's: The administration is horrible. Worse than horrible. I have been out of school for over 5 years and they still find ways to screw me over whenever I have to deal with them. From key administrative aids being out of the office for weeks, to the purposeful and never ending runaround you get from every single person from billing, to academics, to student aid, to the school board. They impose random holds on your account and never take them off, even after bringing in at least 3 people to resolve the issue. Its the poster-child for bureaucracy.
Never trust anyone when they say they will "leave a message" and "I'm sure it's fine."
Good school. Excellent film, theatre, and education programs. A decent price for the full university experience without having to walk a mile to you next class. Knocked a star off because of the numerous classes cut and horrible decisions made by the last president. The dorms, and other campus facilities are undergoing numerous needed renovations. I would recommend this place to prospective students.
Kise Commons on the other hand, best to avoid eating there for every meal. Trust me, you won't go #2 for days.
Advice for new students watch out for the squirrels. Seriously! Watch out for the squirrels! They'll ruin your day! Every long term student and staff member here has a personal story or two to tell you about MSUM's squirrels. I was once walking to class and a squirrel took a Dairy Queen blizzard cup up into the tree and dropped it on a girl's head in front of Ballard Hall and the library!

Absolutely fantastic. I studied abroad here for 4 months, I'm originally from the U.K. They were fantastic with everything from helping me make the change in study and lifestyle I needed to succeed. I met lovely people that I am still friends with 5 years later.
I m a mature student in the 3rd year of my undergraduate studies at Middlesex Uni, London, UK. Just had an excellent experience from one of the professors from the university who took time to politely respond to my information request regarding one of his excellent and renowned web published articles. Thank you Mr T Gracyk! Your reply has proved vital in my successful completion of an assignment. So generous of him to give his time to someone who isn t even studying at Minnesota State Uni Moorhead. If the rest of the staff here apply the same level of commitment to their own students and then this is clearly a fanatic establishment in which to broaden minds. Thank you kind Sir
Graduated from here and attended all four years of my undergrad studies. Met wonderful people and learned a lot. If you can handle the cold - this is a decent school.
Small school making easy to meet people and connect. I have life long friends! Getting to and from places was so convenient and location is great.
One of the worst, full of devious people. The educating models are absolutely outdated with racial bias. The security guards are creepy.
It's the best school to me.
