This hospital hold people against their will with bad treatment just to charge patients $2,000 a day. And no communication with the patient s family until someone goes up there and spends the day on the phone demanding to know what is going on. Very unprofessional and in my opinion it is just a way to hold people to get more money. I do not know how we are going to financially recover from this Millwood Hospital long stay against our will.

DO NOT SEND YOUR FAMILY HERE! You are treated like a inmate!! No therapy just group where everyone is just sitting there or they take you to a small gym to play games. You have to write everything in crayon which I understand why but geez! Filling out forms in crayon is a little much. They give you a paper before every group and then they just stick it in your file. No one goes over them. There is one doctor there that you may see a few times for about 3 minutes but not for therapy. He s just there to decide when he is going to let you go home and because they make $2000 a day on each patient they want to keep you as long as possible. This place needs to be invested. There were 2 code 10 s (911) while I was there. Basically some guys from DA side of the hospital we re trying to get into our side. I NEVER FELT SAFE. WE AS PATIENCES needed help and they weren t given it. Some that were going through the same things just banded together and tried to help each other since no one there was. So many meds and you weren t given a choice. Food was horrible. I wouldn t feed it to my pets. There were some techs there that were doing the best they could and were really nice and there were some techs that treated people like prisoners. Just don t send your family members here. They won t get the help they need.
I just got released from there today. It was the worst experience ever. It made my depression and anxiety worse. Most of the staff was nice but a couple were mean. And the food was yeh worst ever.
I asked the front desk person at 7:00 pm if I could discharge my teen. she tells me that she will get a sup. So i wait... I ask how long and she asks me where my son is... visiting hours are over.. mocked me every time I approached the desk. I waited patiently for TWO HOURS w/out an apology. Dr O comes out. He asks me if I am the biological mother at least SEVEN TIMES during conversation -didn t ask for ID. I wish I recorded him b/c he humiliated & discriminated against me. What kind of game was he playing? And he is a professional?!
During intake I was put into a very cold room with almost no clothing, no shoes, a woman came in with paperwork and said she'd be back and never came. I had to ask five people for a blanket before I was begrudgingly given one. I ended up getting sick and was throwing up and begging for help and I could hear people walking by and laughing. It took over three hours (not sure exactly because they took my phone and belongings without warning, didn't allow me to use a phone or write down any numbers) -- before someone finally addressed me, gave me a sandwich and a drink and called the police so I could ask to be let out. They then released me onto the street with the same lack of clothing and no shoes to wait for a ride, not to mention it was cold and dark outside. If I wanted help, this would be the last place I would go. They're supposed to be caring for and helping people while they're in an incredibly vulnerable state and just ended up further traumatizing me. I was made to feel less than human and it's truly a shame, because if I had maybe been treated with any sort of empathy I could have gotten psychiatric help. If intake is indicative of the lack of attention/condescending manner by staff then I feel truly sad for anyone committed here against their will. Thank you to the police officers that allowed me to leave and retain some amount of dignity.
Whatever you do DO NOT bring your loved ones here, specially not your children. I made that mistake and I am regretting it. My child was administered medication without my consent. They did not even try to contact me. I brought the police so they could help me get my child out and the manager just wanted to lecture me on everything and not once did she address any of the issues I brought up. My daughter is here for mental health and the manager basically said my daughter was lying. That they tend to do that a lot. I know my daughter and what she s capable of. Once I signed the AMA the doctor put my daughter on 24 hr hold. For what reason? This is just horrible. Whatever you do do not bring your child here. There s no respect whatsoever and when I asked for the directors name, she said to call back during the week because now I m taking up her time and my AMA pjt her behind on a lot. She talked to me like she was doing me a favor and I had to thank her. This place is horrible.
Update:
I did receive phone calls from the hospital and apologies. But once again I was very disappointed.. when I showed up to pick up my daughter they didn t even ask me for an id. I was also told about the medication she was taking two anti depressants at once and I knew nothing about this. I don t blame anyone but the leadership here all they do is show up after the fact and apologize and say they will take action. Please whatever you do DO NOT bring your loved ones here it is a horrible place and they do not communicate and are very untruthful specially Callahn.
The level of care is closer to the penal system than anything else. There are some individuals who "try" in the system provided, however the overall shortfalls and failures are too big to ignore. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. There is little help that will actually translate to a positive outcome. Please avoid.
DO NOT GO TO MILLWOOD! Millwood turned me away today. Apparently I'm on their "Do Not Return" list. The police gave me a ride to another hospital that will take me. They made me wait 2 hours in intake and then turn me away. Also in intake, I asked for a 2nd orange juice because I was dehydrated, and the lady slammed the door in my face.
The staff are great but this place is SEVERELY in need of more Psychiatrists. The ones they have right now are so overwhelmed with the amount of patients they are required to see.
