Since my review was originally posted a couple of years ago, the phone service and hold time has dramatically improved. It's a night-and-day difference to how it used to be. The wait staff and food quality have remained superb in that time as well. I'm happy to say my wife and I love Mi Apa and go about once a week. They also introduced a really nice rewards program now. This place is a real gem!

Good food, great coffee. I'm Cuban and know good home cooked cuban food so I'm a bit snobby with it, but it's well done and fast. Nice to have a bit of home that I don't have to prepare myself.

Absolutely no complaints! I ve eaten here before, but am now enjoying some drive-through for the first time. Their signs encouraged ordering online, which I may try next time. The Arroz Cubano (breakfast all day- my favorite!) was very filling and made this vegetarian happy- surprisingly tasty rice, some fried eggs and perfect sweet plantains. I love the fresh juices (sipping my guava now) and appreciate the variety of authentic and affordable choices. It came in biodegradable packaging. Service was friendly and, considering it s not fast food, timely. Thanks for a wonderful meal!

If you are looking for a authentic Cuban sandwich ...

If you are looking for a authentic Cuban sandwich this is not the place to go. I lived in Tampa for over 40 years so I definitely know what a Cuban sandwich is supposed to be. Many of my friends and co-workers were Cuban and used to tell how the sandwich came about in the cigar factories using the tabacco press to heat it up. No Cuban sandwich ever had Cheap fatty gelatos processed sliced ham on it. The people were very poor and had access to plenty of pork. I paid $8 for a pressed Ham and Swiss sandwich that was disgusting. A real Cuban sandwich has Cuban seasoned slow roasted pork on it with NO processed ham. Also had a mix of mustard and mayo with seasoning in it. If really like to to try a Cuban sandwich go to Tampa or Miami and please don't let someone try there first Cuban sandwich at this place. It's just a fatty gelatos processed ham and cheese sandwich that could pick up at any convenient store.

The service is good as is the food, but it is popular and very crowded. Not a lot of space for children or disabled customers. They cater and have very tasty dishes. There is usually a line but the longest we waited was 15 minutes, so not too bad. They did try to seat my elderly friend swiftly, so that he would not have to stand.

Although it's in a college town and it is constantly busy, the waiters and waitresses really try their best to make sure that every customer receives attention when needed. The first time I went there, they were slammed. There were probably around 60 people there, so I didn't take it personally when my waitress forgot my side of rice. However, once I brought it to her attention, she apologized for my wait and shortly brought it out along with three huge complementary pastries and she thanked me for my patience. I love arepas, so I recommend them. They are huge, probably 5 to 6 inches in diameter. However, if you're going to get a chicken arepa, don't get number 9. Get number 11 instead; it is seasoned chicken with avocado. It is so much tastier than the grilled chicken with cheddar and it goes great with the avocado. I even add mayo to mine, too. The best part is: they're between $5-$6. Number 9 also says it comes with grilled onions or sauteed onions, but it doesn't. What they mean is: The chicken is cooking with onion. The first time I went I got number 9 cause I love grilled onions but ahh, no actual onions in it. My boyfriend got the Cuban sandwich one time and the Miami sandwich the other time. Both were hits to him. 5 churros for $1.99, too!

The coffee is always on point! Some how they forget to separate my vegan empanadas. But I can t believe they keep these young ladies out in the cold when its 40 degrees outside! The owners need to understand that a guest can wait an extra 2 minutes to place an order instead of putting their employees in a chilly situation. And that 5 inch space heater does nothing when it s 27 degrees outside at 8am. Laura - has amazing patience to be out there freezing. Thank you Laura :)

Great Latin food favorites of Cuban/Puerto Rican plates and Colombian/Venezuelan arepas. We have enjoyed breakfast and dinner here and the place was packed both times but we've received excellent, fast service from friendly and efficient staff. We also sent our visitors here who live in Tampa and they loved it! We will definitely be coming here often.

There was a hair in the Cuban sandwich, a piece of brillo metal in the arooz congri, ropa vieja was really salty, tostones had no flavor and the bistec encebollado was cold. Not impressed, they could use more cleaness. The croquetas was tasty, but I regret eating them after finding what we found in our food. Not a clean place. Staff is very polite, they gave 50% off the sandwich and the ropa vieja, but that's not the point. I want to eat good food when I go out.

They use only plastic cups and silverware 24/7. Not only is it incredibly unprofessional and cheap looking, but it s so unnecessary. They don t even recycle all the pounds of plastic they use daily and it will take thousands of years to decompose. Just get dishes and wash them like every other restaurant???
