Waterfront campsite. Great spot. Bathrooms were always clean, though the hot water was rare. Good boat launch, but a little tricky. The edge closest to the dock has a sharp drop off. Very quiet after the holiday.
Great place if you like fishing in the backwaters of the Mississippi, but otherwise it's definitely not the most exciting or scenic state park. It does have some campsites. If you like hiking, this is not the park for you. Decent place for a picnic though.
Beautiful stretch of river, with some great campsites which can be accessed from the water. The park has showers for campers, and electric sites as well. There are 2 boat launches which can get busy on the weekends but are free to use if you have a current Wisconsin state Park sticker. The park has a ton of wildlife, nature area, multiple points to access the water, and a little playground for the kiddos. Bonus: lots of little towns nearby for quick trips and resupply missions! This is our go-to spot for camping, fishing, and good times!
We camped on the North loop and the site was gravel and pretty flat, nice and quiet. I would highly recommend bug spray, lots of mosquitoes at night. The hiking trails were nice and wide, saw kids riding their bikes on the trail. Great place for camping!
We like the large campsites, many with water views; easy-to-walk trails that go right down to slow-moving, beautiful areas of the river; and really clean bathrooms/showers. I m not sure it would keep young children fascinated for long, but for laid-back campers willing to sit and watch the water go by or canoe/kayak, it is ideal. If you re willing to tent camp in a walk-in site, you can camp within a few feet of the river bank. And there are happy dogs here.
This was a great morning for paddling at Merrick State Park I had a great time meeting many campers who enjoy the river. Thank you Ranger Brandy I appreciate your being the sweep good to feel that someone has your back.
Kayaked on November 21st, canoe trail and Mississippi river were relaxing and peaceful
Our family loves going here to hike! Easy trails for younger kids and just a beautiful place!
Nice park. Little train noise. Little stock car racing noise. Enjoyed our stay.
