Emily H is a fantastic birthing center nurse! She went above and beyond in taking care of me and my baby and supporting my significant other. She truly cared for our well-being, and we felt more confident as first time parents with her assistance and attention. She deserves a raise!
I recently had a C-section at Meriter, along with various appointments leading up to my delivery. Every step of the way the staff went above and beyond to make sure they were doing everything they could to keep my child and myself healthy and safe. My care after the C-section was impressive. Each nurse I had was attentive, kind and very knowledgeable. Over all great experience!
Great customer service over the phone, unfortunately they will not be able to accommodate an expecting single mother that's new to the state with 2 older kids in tow. Due to child care being so expensive and my due date being so close I've decided to kick it in high gear and go searching for a hospital to deliver my baby in. Unfortunately I won't be able to deliver here at Meriter because they won't allow children (ages 5&7) in the delivery room with you, no matter how messed up your circumstances are. (And let's just get one thing straight, my kids are finely disciplined and well mature. There's no doubt in my mind they'll be okay on that couch in the delivery room.) But hey, rules are rules.. I just pray that any other expecting mother never ends up in the same predicament I'm in right now.
My wife was induced for labor on a Tuesday and we left the hospital on a Friday with our baby. We were both very impressed with all of the nurses and doctors in the birthing center as well as the family care center. I was so happy with how well everybody treated us in the hours leading up to the birth. I was nervous about the birth/active labor but everybody was very genuine, and I recall them checking on me (dad) to make sure I was doing OK throughout the process as well. They let me be very involved and guided me on how to help. We couldn't have been happier with the pediatrician, who was very reassuring with all of our questions/concerns, and for that reason we left feeling confident. My wife's only complaint was any needle work... initial blood draw had bruising/swelling, IV insertion required multiple attempts, epidural required multiple attempts.
Brought my wife in to the ER due to severe abdominal pain. The check in, and initial vitals check with the nurse were quick, but we were then dropped off in a room where we were told they were going to administer pain medications, a CT Scan, and an Ultrasound. We sat for about an hour and a half before asking for a nurse. They forgot about pain medications, and they had assumed we already went through all of the tests and were waiting for results. They wasted our time, and kept my wife in a lot of pain. All while they allowed a patient to have a mental breakdown for 50 minutes straight screaming at the top of their lungs at the hospital staff.
Two stars is pretty generous.

Worst incounter with customer service I have ever seen in my life. I called the er to let them know my 2 year old will be there but he does have signs of covid. This rude lady cuts me off everytime I tried to talk and was extremely rude when I was already upset. She then goes on and yes yeah you can bring him here but there is no promise that he will be tested. Took him to a different hospital and had a 10 times better experience. I usually went to meriter but I will be changing my hmo to be seen somewhere else. If I could give a 0 star I would
I have come to this Hospital over the last twenty years off and on. It never changes. The general experience is usually negative.
I moved to Madison in 2003, I had always went to meriter. When I found out in 2011 I was pregnant, I wes sent to the perinatal clinic and they were absolutely AMAZING with my care from day 1 up until delivery! L&D was fantastic I could not have asked for more genuine experience with my first child! In 2014 I delivered my 2nd child there also! Azimg staff and Drs worked so diligently to make sure my son (who was LARGE) Was well cared for and caught on quickly that I needed an emergency C-section! And the small cafe was also a favorite! The food was amazing! I recommend the taco salad and the fried steak!
