Reception friendly. Hotel is in a very nice location. Guests can use the neibouring sport center with swimming pool. The policy of not being able to check in before 2pm could be more flexible. Checking in without being given a room number is possible in most other hotels in the accor group. When possible we have nearly always been given our room early (I am not talking about a.m.) - without extra charge. Such charges stopped years ago in Europe!
Breakfast was unfortunately a catastrophe. Breakfast finished half an hour earlier than usual because of a wedding taking place on the Saturday - why? The coffee is unacceptable. The "buffet" was not replenished. When we arrived down for breakfast there was NOTHING warm left, just bread and a few pastries. They said some warm food was coming several times but it didn't. We were not the only ones to complain. The personnel were completely in stress with the whole situation. As usual on stress days no management helping out not even one in sight.

Booked with a groupon. Booking process was fine and easy, one of the restaurant waitresses was lovely and friendly. The hotel it s self is very very dated (think The Shining), we had a suite and the bathroom was freezing and the bed was uncomfortable. The food was mediocre at best, the breakfast was greasy and there were a lot of flies in the restaurant.

The room is great, but the restaurant really disappointed. The starter came with stale and hard bread, the mains were cold and the medium steak was well done, the service was so slow we left before the dessert arrived. People next to us who arrived later had a three course meal within the time we got served ours.

Pleasant stay for a business trip. The hotel outside is beautiful and the majority of the hotel is to a good standard. However there are lots of areas which need updating. Just basic things like touches of paint to really finish it off.

The food is fantastic.

I shall be returning.

I have a brakfast business networking meeting here every fortnight and the breakfast is good for what we need. Has a nice area to side of reception for informal meetings over a drink or even an afternoon tea!

Google Maps review policy seems to be a lot more basic than their search algorithms are.

For the record I do not and will not submit reviews under the following circumstances:

1. If I have already provided a review unless there has been a substantial passage of time since the previous review or a change that warrants an update;

2. If my visit occurred over 1 month ago;

3. If I only passed by a place and didn't actually visit;

4. If I only obtained directions to a place using google maps but have not actually visited the destination. After all what is the value in a fictitious review and lets face it Google tracks our location more efficiently than MI5 or GCHQ and should therefore know that I haven't visited the destination in question;

5. If the place in question is a chain or franchise operation that can be found in more or less the same form in many locations in the UK or indeed the world. There is little point in providing lots of detail about something people can find anywhere on their High Street; and

6. If the place is my place of work or a commercial premises that I have visited in the course of my work.

Letchworth Hall Hotel falls into category 4, I have not visited the place and as such does not benefit from a review or my time in preparing one, this standard text is provided simply to dismiss Googles repeated requests for me to submit a review.

An excellent venue for Receptions. I have been to several events. The Staff are extremely helpful and courteous and served with efficiency and in a friendly way. The food and drink were most enjoyable. The Hotel is in a beautiful setting and a delightful place for photos. There are many types of activity in the Hotel. To be highly commended.

The staff were pleasant. The club Sandwich from the bar was very good. It felt like a bit of a labyrinth to get to my room. My room on the 1st floor was nice and big, it had Aircon which was necessary on the day. There wasn't a fridge in the room. The bathroom was functional but in need of refurb.

Wedding night ruined.

Wedding night ruined.
I had pre booked this hotel for our wedding night as we were getting married just down the road.
Long story short - we waited 20 minutes to be seen, they couldn't find our booking and doubted that we had been booked it. We waited a further 30 minutes while they continued to look for our booking. We are at this point still standing in our wedding outfits at the desk and it was safe to say the merriness had warn off.
Finally after calling someone, the gentleman on the desk went off to check a room for us. Upon his return he pointed in the general direction of our room, so we adventured off to find it.
The lift on the way to the room was broken, and carrying a large suitcase up a flight of stairs in a wedding dress is not fun!
After an hour we were finally able to sit down.

Had a lovely pre Christmas night stayover here. Glad we did a Sunday night rather than stay with the Christmas parties. It was lovely to soak up the Christmas feel in front of a fire. Comfy hotel. Thank you. X

Run down and wanting. Our room had no heating,the phone didn't work. On the second day we had no hot water and the toilet didn't flush properly. The food was mediocre. I can't believe this hotel is rated four star.

The most RIDICULOUS management I have ever witnessed. Staff are brilliant, although blatantly lacking training. Pure lazy management who treat the Staff horribly. What a shame. Food was average. Ross is a threatening coward who bullies his staff and obviously is not skilled or mentally capable of being a manager. Shouting in front of customers is not professional, Ross. Will not return.

In Covid-19 Times I do hope this isnt the Future of a Long Weekend Break.
Minimal Staff Grounds unkempt & grubby.
A/C limping along as We sweltered.
Website not updated at time of Booking to reflect current situation.
Barebones Staff doing their best.
Hotel needs a proper refurb exterior window frames rotted and paint blistered off this is old not Covid related
Paid Good Money to be here.
I would have been better served to go to an IBIS this Groups supposed "lower" rated hotels anywhere always clean always well Staffed cracking Breakfasts and keenly priced.
Mercure were poor tbh

A strange place and I arrived late in the night, I was promised they will organise dinner for me prior to arrival at 10.30 when I arrived I was told dinner can't be obtain as kitchen closed earlier and they won't cook for me. Poor managed so I had to stick to some sandwiches instead. It wasent all bad but if someone promise you something and then they let you down its a bit frustrating. Other than that it's a large hotel and very tricky to navigate around but the place does have some character and charm.

Despite multiple new staff members in training the quality of the service was spotless; with reception, cleaning and waiting staff providing a professional standard while still being approachable and friendly. The food could not be criticised and the attention to detail was without fault, this high quality hotel provided a phenomenal service. The rooms are in top condition, they were comfortable, updated and exceeds the necessary facilities. The historic Mexure Letchworth Hotel is the perfect get a away for couples looking for that historic and top class feel.

The staff at this hotel are fantastic.

The staff at this hotel are fantastic.
Even before our visit I had to make arrangements with reception about keeping extra ice blocks that I bought for my cool bag frozen so I could keep my own milk etc.. chilled. (I am on a specific diet due to intolerance of certain things)
I thought that eating in the restaurant was going to be tricky but the waiting staff found out all the things that I needed to know about ingredients and such. They even had gluten free bread and rolls which were delicious, gluten free is usually like cardboard.
The hotel itself is really pretty and the room was certainly adequate. Bed was really comfortable.
I would certainly recommend staying here.

Pleasant stay, good sized room with all the amenities you need. Down side is the rooms were very warm and the air conditioning was very loud. Some traces of mould in the bathroom on the ceiling - probably because there is not extractor fan. Easier to stay here if you have a car - otherwise it's a half an hour walk to the centre. Overall enjoyed the stay and would come again!

Shower cold, tap leaking, toilet was too small, air conditioning doesn't work properly, light bulbs are out, no shower mat (health and safety), dirty pillows, mysterious "white" stains on the chair, breakfast menu had vegetarian sausages but not actually there, ordered a vegetarian pasta but they put chicken on top

Lovely, quiet period hotel. Room was clean, comfortable, of a reasonable size and modern. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very good and the bar is cheaper than I expected for a hotel.
The attached leisure facilities are free to use for guests and are clean and in good condition. I made use of the pool and sauna.

Probably not the best choice for families with young children due to a lack of facilities for the young, but great for couples.

Overall a very pleasant stay.

Fantastic 4 star hotel with Spa and Gym. Located away from houses in its own grounds. Easy to drive to and ample parking. Old style hotel with modern rooms. Very comfortable, staff friendly, weddings or events are away from most bedrooms so not noisy at night, food great. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and have booked again to take family with us in the spring. Bar area a bit cramped so if you want a bar meal rather than restaurant, find your seat early.

A very nice hotel with very good facilities (gym and pool available for free). The breakfast is typical English (ie delicious) and the atmosphere is peaceful. The hotel is also very well located if you go to the Duxford air show (for warbirds)
