Thank you to all the staff - We were privileged to interact with you, and especially notably, Lily ( like the flower she said): A most delightful lady who went above and beyond with our check-in and initial impression of our room! Check-out was equally impressive - thank you Sankar (Duty Manager)! We enjoyed our very special overnight stay, planning to return very soon! You are all a credit to both The Sebel and to the City of Sails, Auckland!

Very nice hotel with apartment rooms and a decent rate compare to the Hilton or other hotels on the water. We were upgraded to a harbor view and loved our stay. The staff are wonderful and this is a prime location. Note that on the weekends in the evenings it can get loud in the Viaduct area with all of the bars and restaurants below. The Giraffe cafe / restaurant just off the lobby has splendid meals early and late.

Great place to stay for view and restaurants as all say. Mamy of these require dinner bookings. I'm recommending for cruise ship guests. Easy flat 10 minute walk to the terminal and hoho bus departure area. Rooms at 4.5 star nut quite nice. Laundry can be done. Emjoy

Bit disappointed. No free WiFi and their WiFi rates are more expensive than cellphone data. Average selection of soaps, I wish I had brought my own. Milk comes in a little carton with a straw - expect to miss your coffee cup every time if you try to squeeze it out of the straw hole. Stairs access is for emergency only so if you get vertigo from elevators, tough luck. Bed feels ok but either I'm tall or it's short.
The walls are really thin and you can clearly hear people's conversations in the hallway. During my stay I had drunk people coming and going every hour or so, yelling and making no effort to be quiet.
It has a washing machine and dryer, but I found the dryer door was broken when I attempted to dry my washing. I had to stand holding the door closed for an hour so I had dry cloths the next day (lucky the TV was next to it).
One morning I asked reception where a good place was for breakfast nearby (around 7-7:30am) they had no clue. Found out a day later that around the corner, on the same block was a restaurant that was open from 6am. Clearly they don't have any local knowledge or care to learn some!

Rooms were great. Bed was nice. We had a washer dryer which came in very handy. Location could not be better if you want to get dinner at the viaduct. Staff was helpful. We ate at Giraffe in the lobby for breakfast and really enjoyed it.

Arived prebooked only to have no key, had to be let into room. Then to realise he let us into a prebooked room with someones belongings. Aftrr an oppology got taken to another room, promised a free wine for the mishap. The wine never arived. We decided to lay down to warch tv before a prebooked dinner and the bed broke. Made another complaint with the promise of another room in 15 mins, 30 min latrr with no comunication we walked out and will aim for refund. Totaly wrecked a special night we hardly get together.

I made the arduous walk in the blistering heat from the Auckland harbour oaks, towing a suitcase large enough to hold an adult body, a large hiking backpack and a work bag which I wore on the front, making me look like a heavily pregnant woman. Into the glorious sebel I confidently struggled because google maps told me so. And glorious was the lobby. The lady was gorgeous and helpful but informed my that I didn't have a booking. Turns out there's another sebel 230m away called sebel quay West (this was sebel viaduct). Sadly I donned my pregnancy bag, backpack and Mafia style suitcase and headed onwards. The dream remains, get go the sebel viaduct!

Took a double payment for our stay on Friday night 2 weeks ago and refuse to refund the extra payment. Avoid staying here at all costs. Horrible customer service as we have been trying to contact them but no one cares. Once again avoid staying here.

Hotel is in a very convenient location by Viaduct. Our room was a self contained apartment which would be great for a longer stay. Dined in one of restaurants just downstairs.
Received an upgraded room at check-in which was a nice touch.
As mentioned in other reviews, remember the hotel is above restaraunts and bars so can get loud around closing time and with special events i.e. Champions League final cheering was our wake up.

Cheaper to pick up a prepaid sim and use it as a hotspot ($25) than use their overpriced wireless ($30). Depending where your room is, you can be kept awake all night by the music down at the Irish pub.

Great rooms, excellent location. The price is up there, but so is everything around there. For the price, though, the room is absolutely fantastic and the views are amazing. The hotel is a bit tricky to find if you're using GPS... They could do better there.

No wifi in rooms. Even if you get a router from front desk, you can only connect one device for $25/day.
Unpleasant views of cement wall out of your "city view" room unless of course you pay in excess of $350/night.
Very limited bathroom counter space, and no mirrors besides the small one in bathroom.
Reasonably good location, but the value is just not there. Look elsewhere.

I've stayed here a couple of times now. The rooms I've had have always been huge, with comfy beds and a great shower. A seperate table/desk to work at and a seperate lounge area. It's a great location right near the water, which means it's close to the running path. They don't have a restaurant but you can charge a few local places on the promenade to your room - which means you can get some good variety.

The location of this hotel was great. Plenty of restaurants, bars and cafe were around and looking at the harbor.
The size of the room (35m) was sufficient for family with a little kid. Unfortunately the communication was the downside of this place. I asked to provide a child crib via my booking and didn't hear back from administration. We arrived quite late and our son fall asleep in a car. So, we should wait for assembly of the cot before I can put him into the bed.
I liked the layout of the room and bathroom. It was handy to have a washing machine and a bath with the kid. The light at the bathroom was good to put makeup on. However, the lack of drawers created some difficulty to store clothes. Seems like built-in wardrobe should eliminated this issue, but the configuration inside just wasn't right. There were only three coat hangers and it were fixed quickly by our request. I liked sun block curtains that created nice darkness for kid's nap time.
The parking was downstairs and it wasn't easy to find for the first time arrivals. No signs at all. Bear in mind extra 35NZD a per day on top of your accommodation. It's a good alternative right across the road under a viaduct "City Parking" for 25NZD. But we didn't know how to find it when we arrived at night.
