Mel's Funway Park Review

My dad used to own this restaurant and park area. This still looks as great as it was. Very nostalgic to add.

I just about got arrested tonight at Mels Funway Park. I walk in to the restaurant from the outside sitting area, I have already received my food, and other then the mediocre food everything was fine. As I approach the restroom, a very large employee sitting down at a table eating very rudely says "the restroom is for paying customer's only". Now, if she was polite, I guess I would have just turned around and politely told her I was a paying customer. But seeing as she was rude, and obviously on some sort of break I just ignored her and kept walking. She then yells, " the restroom is for paying customers only". I turned around, and say "really". I then walk into the restroom, but before I do, the "owner" stops me from screaming across the restaurant, " she said the restroom was for paying customers, get the hell out of my restaurant". So now I'm a little heated, I say " before or after I pay my bill?" He says "o, your eating here". I finally enter the restroom.

When I come out, the obese woman sitting still eating, says "sorry". I said " no, your incredibly rude" the owner then kicks me out, tells me to pay and leave. I go outside, find my waitress, I explained the situation, and that I needed to pay quickly. She said wait let me go find the owner. Oh joy I thought, I get to see him again. After about 5 minutes of me standing outside of the restaurant waiting for somebody to come outside so I could pay them, I walked away.

Once in line at the bumper cars, they lovely police officer taps me on the shoulder.

Let's just say, the night was ruined. I did not get arrested, however my five year old son seeing me taken away from him and spoken to five police officers, over having to go to the bathroom completely ruined our evening.

Obviously the owner of Mel's has made plenty of cash over the years, they no longer see that need to practice customer service. The food was not that great, the beer was warm, and the service was just "a friend helping out".

Don't go here, if you do, avoid the diner.

Kids definitely love it.

Brought a group of boys ages 10-12 and they had a fantastic time. Some attractions are closed due to Covid but we definitely plan on returning when they reopen these attractions and probably before that for the open attractions.

Mel's Dinner is where I ate breakfast and met a freelance sub contractor for meetings. The food was excellent.

It was a blast, overpriced though. Wouldn't go back

Getting run down. Kids who run it are not well trained. My son and friend had laser tag that didn't work. Game operator admitted she had very little experience. The 16 year old manager refused to give us a refund. People were giving away tokens to the batting cages. My son who loves baseball gave it a try and was disgusted with how poorly the machine worked. The afternoon was very expensive and not much fun.

Always a great time at Mels! Due to covid some of the attractions are closed. Its a nice little outing and social distancing is observed. Great place to visit if you and your family or friends just want a low key fun night without it costing an arm and a leg!

The clam bake was not coordinated as what I expected it to be. For the amount paid for the meal really did not get monies worth. No wet naps or bib for the lobster. This is not going to shy me away tho. It was the first one in the season.

Mini golf was pretty standard. One of the two courses is under construction and the driving range is closed this season. The arcade was very crowded. We didn't get a chance to go on the go karts as it had just rained and the track was wet.

Arcade is a scam. After playing a game of mini golf which was fun we decided to go to the arcade. The automated prize vending machine refused to scan my 16 ticket slip so I went to the counter and they said oh sorry here s 1 dollar. Most of the games are either 50 cents or a dollar to play. The average win on these machines is about three tickets. The minimum prize is 25 tickets which is a bouncy ball. So after playing the dollar they gave me I only had 21 tickets so not even enough to get the minimum prize. I am furious at the scam this arcade is. It s horrible!!!

Arcade was kind of crummy half the machines broken and the awkward prize thing. Most employees weren't doing there job or seemed like they cared. Got hit on purpose in the go carts and lost two laps for no reason because the employee didn't want to help and also did not yell at the guy who hit me and my small child. Probably not going back there

Good place to take the family for a little fun and something to eat

My family planned an outing to Mel's for golf. Was under construction..? August rennovations? We then went to Mel's Diner to eat and it was filled with dirty tables. The one waitress told us we could sit anywhere but she needed to clean tables off. We sat at the only booth and the waitress proceeded to clean all the empty tables and ignored us and we were the only customers waiting to sit. Another family walked out with us for not getting an order taken. The go kart cost is way too expensive at $9 per ride.

Pathetic excuse of an establishment. Last night I watched these scumbags serve a lady and her boyfriend completely wrong orders, and then when they complained about the food they TOOK AWAY THE PLATE, refused to serve them a proper meal, and demanded them to pay for the incorrect food that was taken away. When they obviously refused, they CALLED THE POLICE and had the police force them to pay. This place is a scam and a disgusting joke of a restaurant. Do not come here.

We got a Groupon for a day's worth of activities and had a blast; go carts, batting cages, laser tag, mini-golf. Lots of fun.

Went to Nightmare New England and they did a great job!

Very nice park. Good for family, very clean and nice and easy trail for hike or walk. Also good for fishing. Plenty of parking spots.

It's fun but I wish for a price of a day pass there were things to do.

Every time we visit me ALWAYS have to go to Mel's I recommend you going there

I was looking at the review below regarding Groupon and was hesitant to go as I live 1 hour away. But, I went anyway with my Mom on the Mother's day as I have planned it ahead and didn't want to ruin her excitement. I purchased the Ultimate Park Day Pass on Groupon and didn't have any issue. My mom got in for free!! She also got a free ice cream!!
The staff was super nice and helpful. I forgot what was her name, the one who was stationed at the Mini Golf in the morning, she was amazing!!
Anyway, you seriously gonna love it there. I even forget how many Go Karts rides that I had, I only remember that I played a little too much hahahahaha.

It was alright. The laser tag was kind of sad, and the laser maze just left us confused. The go karts are standard ones. The staff is very unenthusiastic and all look like they'd rather be home, sleeping.

Go carts, laser tag, mini golf, batting cages, diving range, arcade games and soon, BUMPER BOATS! What's not to like? They could have better signage. When you first pull in it's confusing on where to go. It's building one, all the wat to the right by the event tents. It's worth getting the wrist band if you're going to spend the day. Kids too small to ride go carts alone can ride with someone over the age of 18. You could bring a cooler and snack from the back of your car, or they have a standard snack bar. Come check this place out in the fall when the haunted house opens up!

We went to play arcade games there, it was below average for ticket games, prizes are lame, and many machines weren't working. 3 stars cuz the other activities there looked fun.

Half of the mini golf course was under construction and the usable half was dirty and not very well maintained. The other attractions were fine but there just wasn't that much to do.

Had an awesome time here playing mini golf. Looks like they might be expanding it. Good mix of challenging and easy holes. They have go karts and other activities. Would recommend if you're looking to get out of the house

The new go karts are a horrible waste of money! The karts are too small, underpowered, ugly and just not fun. One kart had no power at all.

Miniature golf area under construction since it needs lots of work. Charged too much for playing on a deteriorated golf area.

The new remodeling of the golf course has made it virutually impossible to play golf in under two hours. But, the Go-Karts are always very fun. SpookyWorld is also pretty fun but I wouldn't recommend the laser tag, laser maze or arcade.

I purchased through Groupon 2 2 person funpacks. When I got to Mel's they would not honor the 2 2 person funpacks even though it was clearly stated on the Groupon. With my 8 and 6 year old grandchildren psyched to go after driving 30 miles to get there, my wife and I were extremely unhappy.

Employees are amazing here! Mini Golf got a nice facelift and the Batting Cage helmets and bats are all brand new this year! Finishing off the day At Funway Country Ice Cream with Giffords Ice Cream!

Took my nephew here. He loves it, such a great place for kids. My only problem is that the ice cream stand has no sugar free offerings.

Great place to bring anyone with! Or you could even just go by yourself! With the amount of new stuff coming, it will be even more fun than it already is with mini golf, lasertag, a laser maze, a go-kart raceway, great food and ice cream, and the staff are really nice!! Highly recommend coming here if you want to go somewhere fun!!!

Always check Groupon before you go. The staff is super friendly. I don't recommend eating at the Gale because it is kinda pricey. But the ice cream shoppe it's really good and has food there.
Lazer tag is a must. The Lazer Maze is boring. The driving range is great during the day but the range isn't lit at night so you have no idea where you hit your balls.
The mini-golf courses are challenging but they need some of the holes maintained. The carpets are worn and the cups are bent and gapped from the greens.
The go-kart track is awesome and the cars have appropriate speed. You can even drift if you know what you are doing.

More expensive to go on go carts 3 times than to go-to canoby for the day

We absolutely loved Mel's Funway Park. My son loved the mini golf and I loved the go-carts.

Nice entertainment place for kids and even adults, to bad that the waitress and the food there were so bad, even the kids didn't want to eat their hamburger.

They were under construction and under staffed today. On any normal day they have two mini golf courses, batting cages, arcade and go carts. Plenty of fun and when it's finished we'll go back.

It was a good place. It's now run down. Laser vests missing clips. Golf area rotted away

This is not a bus driver friendly location. We were sent to the open field across to park for the day. Some places allow for driver's to seek shelter from heat and sun, offer some vending machines, microwaves, etc. Some offer free coffee. Some allow us to hang out in the park. Whatever happens, the driver is responsible for staying alert for the ride home. I suggest the facility management come up with a plan.

Our grandchildren had fun with minigolf, and really liked the gocarts and laser tag

Best go karts around and without question the best track I've ever seen.
The mini golf course is pretty but in need of some tlc. Overall this is a great place to spend an afternoon. Great ice cream shop too.

Mel's is a great place to have some fun. They've got go-karts, batting cages, mini golf, laser tag, and an arcade. In the fall, they've also got SpookyWorld. I've always had a great time there, whether it's for a graduation party or just a quick stop with friends.

Good day fun. There are 5 main fun areas. Go cart, mini golf, lazer tag, batting cage and driving range. There is a small arcade as well.

I brought my kids here for the first time. They can not get enough of it. We have such a great time each time we've come here.

This Park will definitely make a kid's childhood. Can't wait to come back once Covid's over.

Its not really as I remember it.
The place is pretty old but it is in need of a remodel, as there's a lot of stuff broken, especially in the arcade.
In the arcade literally half the games were broken or not working properly and over priced for a game.
The batting cages are alright, though I wasted 2 tokens just for it not to dispense and balls
Laser Tag, half of the vests are broken or not working properly and the Laser maze needs more variety I stead of the one course there is.. And possibly a way to automatically reset it.
Mini golf wad alright, but could be redone and is very unclear were to place the balls.
The Go Karts were the best things to do in the agile place, though there are a couple karts with loose steering wheels and you only get 3 rides with the all day pass
Also the free soft serve icecream should actually be full for the cups and not hollow in the middle to make it look more
Over all its not worth an all day pass (39.50) when you can go to canobie lake (38.00) and go on plenty more rides that are a lot better and actually worth it.

Great spot for a birthday party. The kids loved the mini golf and go karts. Staff was very nice and flexible about number of guests. So nice to have pizza and cake provided. I would definitely have a party here again!
