You won't find many great office locations as the MRC Secretariat in Vientiane. This four-storey building is located just along the Mekong River, adjunct to 3Yerk Pakpasak Restaurant and some hundred meters to the Chao Anouvong Park. The building is surrounded by many restaurants and pubs, of course this is the prime location.

About Mekong River Commission Secretariat (MCRS)

Mekong River Commission Secretariat (MCRS) is a regional intergovernmental organization that was established in 1995 by the governments of Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. The MCRS is responsible for promoting cooperation and sustainable development of the Mekong River Basin.

The Mekong River Basin is one of the most important river basins in Southeast Asia. It covers an area of approximately 795,000 square kilometers and supports a population of over 60 million people. The river basin is home to some of the world's most diverse ecosystems and provides vital resources such as water, food, and energy to millions of people.

The MCRS plays a crucial role in managing the resources of the Mekong River Basin. Its main objective is to promote sustainable development while ensuring that the needs of all stakeholders are met. This includes balancing economic development with environmental protection and social equity.

One way that the MCRS achieves its objectives is through its various programs and projects. These include programs on water resource management, environmental monitoring, climate change adaptation, fisheries management, navigation safety, flood management, hydropower development assessment, among others.

The MCRS also works closely with other organizations such as NGOs (non-governmental organizations), academic institutions and research centers to ensure that its work remains relevant and up-to-date with current trends in sustainable development practices.

In addition to its programs and projects on sustainable development practices within the region's countries' borders where it operates from Laos PDR capital city Vientiane; The organization also maintains an extensive business directory for companies operating within Laos PDR borders or those interested in doing business there.

This directory serves as a valuable resource for businesses looking to expand their operations into Laos or establish new partnerships within this growing economy. It contains contact details for companies across various sectors such as agriculture & forestry; construction & engineering; education & training; energy & mining; finance & insurance; health care services among others

Furthermore,MRC has been working hard towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by United Nations General Assembly which include poverty reduction through inclusive economic growth opportunities while protecting natural resources like rivers which are essential sources for livelihoods especially rural communities who depend on them directly or indirectly.

In conclusion,MRC plays an essential role in promoting cooperation between countries sharing this vital resource -the mighty mekong river- while ensuring equitable access to it by all stakeholders involved including local communities living along its banks.Their efforts towards achieving SDGs set by UN General Assembly make them stand out from other organizations working towards similar goals making them one worth partnering with if you're looking at investing or expanding your business operations into Lao PDR market .
