I went for an industrial training at Mejia Thermal Power Station during the month of December. It was a dream come true experience working with the highly skilled and professional engineers. Just working under them will involuntarily enrich one with knowledge. It's a very well maintained and highly systematically organised place which is very much suitable for not only engineers but all other employees to work.
The power plant is one of the coal based power plants of DVC . Commissioned on 1996 , MTPS is the largest thermal power plant .
Good , emissions of Toxic gases is way too low .. etc ..
I feel proud to be associated with construction of the first three 210MW units of this plant which is working well since 1998
Done my vocational training during the summer vacation at the end of 6th semester. Stayed at nearby only lodge for 20 days with my friend. It's a huge area and the largest power thermal power plant of West Bengal by capacity. The plant have two unit a old one and a new. So anyone having there training here can experience both the modern and old system of generation. It has both vertical and horizontal cooling tower. The climate here during summer is very rough. Temperature is much high and sun is always over the head. Scorching heat just drained your energy. Although those 20 days we gone through lots of trouble but it's worth the training and exposure we have there. The lunch and breakfast were very much memorable as the employee canteen provided at cheap cost but at reasonable quality and quantity. We struggled with our dinner as the outside market set up is not well. Overall with all the odds we achieve a lifetime experience which we will never forget.

Well maintained Power station. Canteen food is healty but not good at taste. Pollution is made as low as possible. Water conservation is maintained those who want to learn they can go there.
It is a very beautiful place. DVC Colony is nicely decorated. Central Market Complex, Dr. B R Ambedkar Maidan, Kali Mandir, DVC Colony Lagapara Gate all are very beautiful.

I completed my VT from this plant and it's truly a very big Thermal Power Station with 4 no. of 210MW units, 2 no. of 250MW units and 2 no. of 500MW units. It is largest in West Bengal with 2340MW capacity. This plant belongs to DVC (Damodar Valley Corporation). This plant is about 1 hour from Raniganj by car
Very neat and clean area. It is a thermal power plant in the bankura district of West Bengal , India . There's a great pollution check system. The chimneys are high with filtered smoke. I am a resident of the colony there and my father is an employee at DVC MTPS i.e. Damodar Valley Corporation, Mejia Thermal Power Station. The power plant generates huge amount of electricity for the state and for the neraby states. It is situated 30 Km away from durgapur .
There is school, hospital, Parking areas, children's parks, bazaar, recreation clubs, gyms and everything you need inside the colony itself. Great place to live. I am a resident of the MTPS colony. Superb area. All facilities are available. Electricity , market, and all other basic amenities. Full time clean and pollution free water. A very pleasant weather out there.
I am sure that anyone staying there will fall in love with the place. The guest house, the parks, the auditorium are just awesome.
I really love this place. U need to visit this place to know it. It is just awesome. I would definitely recommend anyone getting a job there to just do it.
P.S. - plenty of playgrounds out there including cricket and football. Table tennis boards and badminton courts are also available which I forgot to mention in the above lines.

If you love quietness this should be your HEAVEN...one of very neatly maintained places I have ever seen, really nice & beautiful!!!
This place would make you addictive of calm and quietness...if you are here for a while then it's very difficult to settle down in a different place and environment...that's the nature of this place, really amazing !!!
Spreaded area, without car it is difficult to roam inside the plant area. If anyone come by public transport, from Durgapur he/she should hire car from there itself.

People who don't like to walk, let me tell you, as the power plant is a 2340MW generating station(which is massive) , in average you have to walk 1.5-2kms daily to learn stuffs.
Besides all, Mr Parimal Kumar Dubey, the man whom I admired the most here. He is from mechanical engineering background but being in this industry for several years, he knows everything ( the Jack of all Trades or you can relate him with the Wikipedia of the power station too !!).
I would suggest you to look for this man if you actually want to learn something. He is not easy to find, by the way it took 2days for me to find him.
Beware of SNAKES, HEATED OBJECTS and HIGH VOLTAGES.

The best Thermal Power Project of DVC is situated over here. Since no major cities are nearby, thus I will say it's located far away from the hustle-bustle of cities. It's so calm and peaceful over here. We get maximum things from the markets nearby. Standing on 2021, I can say students get a lot of opportunities and thus children of MTPS always stands somewhere in life. Sometimes, it may seem as a small place but it's okay to stay here because such facilities provided by MTPS are irresistible.
Did 6 th sem industrial training from here. Amazing experience. Here atmosphere is just awesome. When you saw the sky you will see the cloudy blue sky below that huge ground of grass. It's very clean place. And a modern power plant.
Training advisor PK Dubey sir just very nice sir. He is a living inspiration to us. When he shared his lifestyle and his family we really got stunned. He showed the whole plant day by day. We really enjoyed his teachings. Thak you Sir for being our Training Advisor.

MTPS is located at Durlavpur in the Bankura district in West Bengal. It has four units of 210 MW each and two unit of 250 MW. Special features of MTPS include its 16.2 km long spiral welded MS water pipeline for transporting water from the right bank of Damodar river and 220 mtrs high RCC multi flue stack which helps in preventing air pollution. Its affluent water utilization plant has a dual purpose of water conservation and minimization of liquid affluent discharge. The plant also employs 3 ring granulator type crushers for its coal handling system reducing the mill rejection from the tube mill.
