My experience at the hospital has been poor. I brought my dad in and had to wait 4 hrs to be seen in the ER and then another 8 hrs to be admitted to a room. I understand it takes time to have things done but when your bleeding internally they made him wait. I was even told when you come in by ambulance it doesn't mean you get priority treatment . WOW. WOW. So why come by ambulance.

The nurses do the best job that they can with the space that they are given and some of the doctors actually care.

I first went to the Right Time Urgent care with stomach pain and they sent me to st. Mary s because they didn t have the equipment to look at me. They told me I would be on the board and they already sent everything over. Fast forward- St. Mary s says that means nothing and I ve been in the actual waiting room on a Thursday evening for 7 hours and finally went back to a room. This is insane.

Maybe it's a sign of the times, but a total of 5 hours to get a hand x-ray only to be told it might be broken. Waiting on a splint for an hour and counting. So 6 hours in, nothing.

Update: they finally wrapped the arm.. Nurse said they were walking out to go home and she stayed to help.. they are horribly understaffed. Because of the people, I upped to 2 stars.

This is after coming last night and waiting 5 hours only to be told there was no x-ray tech available, so we left...why make us wait 5 hours? We are now 11 hours into this ordeal...what a mess.

I truly think all of the labor and delivery nurses are top notch. I ve gone through 2 births there and every single one I ve had has been incredible. The whole OB team there (midwives and doctors) have all been exceptional. Can t imagine delivering and being taken care of postpartum anywhere else!

I am currently a patient in recovery. If I could give zero stars I would. The nurses are the worst. I am not regularly checked on. I have to use the call button when my IV needs changing. No pain meds unless I ask.
I am miserable here.
Edit: Yes, I had a bad night. A few of the nurses were inattentive among other things. I did receive excellent care from a few nurses. The Director of Nursing came to see me and had a genuine concern for my concerns, I greatly appreciated the conversation. I need to call out Mary for being an outstanding nurse and a fine human being!

My husband has been in this hospital many times. He suffers with allergy induced asthma, diabetes and heart disease. We go into the emergency room, and then often he is admitted.
We have never been treated poorly in either the emergency room nor the hospital.
We both understand a few things that I am not sure everyone knows or remembers. When in the hospital (room or emergency room) you are not the only person needing assistance. There are others that need attention. . . A clean room, the results of a test, transfer information..
We know that first in doesn't mean
first served. It depends on the condition of each patient.
Because all of the staff is busy assisting many patients. you need to be clear about your needs and listen to advice/instructions given.
THIS HOSPITAL IS GREAT!! THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE DOCTORS and STAFF that WORK THERE.

I'm from Florida and have been to some highly rated hospitals and I am extremely impressed with the care Medstar St. Mary's Hospital provided me. Their staff members are polite and professional, very caring, the ED was clean and I was seen quickly. Thank you nurses, practitioner's, and staff members for all you do!

Took a chainsaw to my elbow. Came in and have been sitting for 3 hours. Everyone who is already in a E.R bed are leaving. It s Labor Day and looks as if nobody is working. Sounds like Biden administration planning on Afghanistan. And listening to receptionist training another woman and we can here everything she says negative about working here and the public. Very unprofessional. I always said this hospital is for something like a broken arm. Well, a chainsaw to the elbow doesn t get you any help either so now what? Drive to D.C? Think I might leave and drive somewhere else. This is sad that our local hospital sucks so much. Wouldn t recommend here

I had an amazing experience and had one of the best nurses I ve ever had. For the life of me I can t remember his name. However he worked in the emergency room at night between 730-1030(this is when I was there) on February 10th 2021. I believe his name started with a t but I m not sure. He s amazing. We had great conversation and he did everything with ease and made me feel comfortable and eased my mind. 10/10 recommend going when he works. He definitely deserves a raise.

I had to come to the emergency room unexpectantly. The staff was exceptional. They were compassionate, patient, and friendly. The doctor came in and told me I would need to be admitted and I broke down. Again the compassion was amazing. The nurses were so friendly and made me feel so safe and at ease. I have a condition that has landed me in the hospital 4 times in 10 years. And this is by far the best that I ve had.
