Ordered 4 permits when covid FIRST STARTED in January/February with no problem, i even filled out a mental health assessment and still had all 4 within a week. Went back to order 4 more in October and i ve now been told it will be a 3-4 month wait...because of covid. its not a good excuse anymore especially since i ve been working majority of the year i just wanna get what i paid for so i can be on my way. I called 2 months after applying for the second time thinking that i only have to wait until january and was told they re still working on the month of July...it s December. Was hoping they d be a bit more organized and at least have a system enacted that can tell whose already ordered them and do a quick bypass of everyone that still needs a background check. Definitely could be run better, now it feels like everyone is wasting our time. More can definitely be done by people we are in fact STILL paying taxes for so that they can serve and protect us, i don t feel like i m being well served and i definitely can t protect myself waiting 6 months for something that originally only took a week. highly disappointed

officers are helpful and supportive i wouldve been in a bad place right now if they never helped me

Applied for a purchase permit...on day 52 and nothing. It's supposed to take 14 days. I dont want to hear the bs about more applicants and bigger county. I work with deadlines and if I can't finish in time then I have to work longer hours to get it done. Recently applied for my CWP as well...lets see how long that takes.

The staff was patient and answered my questions without frustration.
Their mannerisms revealed they are happy to come to work

The new sheriff sells out friends for POLITICS. The chief deputy is a LIAR and the sheriff allows it. He also turns a blind eye to reverse racism within his department. Talk about doing the opposite of his "do the right thing" campaign slogan. It's more like "step on whoever you have to to get ahead." Don't let this wolf in sheep's clothing fool you for a second.

The staff are friendly, but don't expect a greeting past a certain time of day.

I had a great experience there and do each time I visit.

This is insanity!! How is it I have to dial 911 for a non emergency and then get cut off,? I would hate to think if I had an actual emergency!!?? I live in SC and needed to tresspass someone from my home and they live in Charlotte... Got cut off of 911 so I guess I gotta drive all the way there....end times people wake up!! We are in the end times!!..

Efficient, professional and fast services. Highly recommend!

Don't even bother calling. After an hour and a half of trying to find out the bail amount for someone, I'm leaving to go ask them directly. Complete waste of time.

With Sheriff McFadden Mecklenburg County has gone from a county with a few problems, to a county I would never consider living in again. I moved out of the county, and will never live in Mecklenburg County again. I ll try to
do as little business as possible in Mecklenburg County as well.

it felt weird walking in there seeing my dad, the officer was pretty rude and you could tell he wasnt very fond of him so the experience was worse.

I work within the walls of the jail, the security officers and all county officials work hard to keep everyone safe and in a clean environment. I am glad to be apart of the experience in working side by side with excellent staff.

Can't stand this place, when you end up here your most likely gonna end up in jail.

The front office staff is great. They have me in and out of there ASAP, no problems, no complications.

HOWEVER, the people answering the phones seem to have comprehension disorders. They listen, but have a hard time processing what is being said.
Not only that, but they somehow got my criminal background record mixed with someone else s which caused a delay of getting my permit. I bet they put in my information wrong in the database.
Super depressing and really annoying.
A major waste of time.

I have submitted for a concealed weapon permit dec 5th 2015. I have called the number on line and left several messages with no response. I have tried to call the sheriffs office and cannot get through to a person. I have paid my fee. I have done all things required for the permit. I just want someone to pick up the phone. like most government agencies the service here sucks. There is not one phone number anywhere on the website that a common taxpayer can talk to someone. Great job Sheriff. I am fine if the process is slow, but simply not responding to call nor taking them is unacceptable.

Have the decency to resign. You are a danger to the public, you have rendered the department irrelevant.

They don't even follow General Statues that require they provide center pieces of paperwork while $hitting on your's and I's constitutional right. I am sorry for anyone who's been incarcerated here because they truly do everything in their power to make sure you stay in.

The Mecklemburg County Sheriffs Office have consistently be helpful and reliable.

Called to see what day they were working on for purchase permits...June 16th...they updated the website last Monday to say they were working on June 15-21...so it has taken 2 weeks to work on 2 days. I don t care how many more applications they have received. Covid has affected so many people and they are without jobs right now, hire them in a temp position to help process the applications. You are leaving people vulnerable that are trying to legally obtain fire arms.

Was in and out like jiffy lube. No long wait to have your finger print(s) done. Staff is nice. Other than that. What number they call you from? To have you come get your permit

As a young black male they made sure to serve me with papers for court quick fast and in a hurry. Wanted to make sure they protected the innocent in their eyes. A week later, same office couldn t find my paper work or give me answers to the court case I filed for my children. They would blame me because I was upset that nobody seemed to care like they did when I was the defendant. They asks questions when your the plaintiff and make moves when your the defendant. I think I have it now. Just sad!!

Your phone answering system is totally useless since we cannot get a live person. I simply wanted to know if you were opened today since the website said hours maybe different on July 4th!

Gentleman working counter in gun permit office told me I would have to wait week or so to get my permit since I made a mistake on my application. I told him it was already approved because I got the email. Not so he said. So I left and within 10 minutes I was getting a call and it had been approved. By this time I was already out of parking deck and in deep traffic. Why not ask me to sit a few minutes and see what he could do to help me! Now I have to go back up there because he didn't want to be bothered by me. Customer service here is ridiculous!

Good experience and finger prints done quickly. Recommend to pay on line for quick appointment.

Nothing really bad here just got tired of law enforcement. Great agency to work for.

Applying for permit to carry. Did it on line. User friendly.

Sheriff needs to be recalled/ ousted.
Releasing criminals and not working with ICE is criminal.

TOTAL MONEY RACKET!!! Tried serving papers on someone for a small claims court case and they try to serve once and then charge you every time they go out costing tons of money. I already had to pay $130 to go to court and now $45 each time they go out to try and serve the person. Total fraud and money racket.

I visited twice in the last week for a gun permit. Friendly service and no long waits. The most frustrating part was finding parking.

My mother was in a car collision . Charlotte Mecklenburg cops responded to the scene . Decided she was ok . My mom ended up at the emergency room one hour later in Concord nc dropped off by a cab driver who was concerned for her health. Makes me furious .She didn't even know where she was . I finally got a call from hospital the next day .

Setting aside the issue of needing to be "permitted" to exercise your rights for a moment. Apply in May. Get your "mother may I" approved in November. What age are we living in, that it takes this long to check a database? Other Sheriffs offices in the same state can do this same day.

Question itself is wrong, I suppose. Truth is the Sheriff has set up the office and the process in an adversarial way to impede and discourage people.

Went there for fingerprints on a Wednesday at 4:30 PM, was in and out within 15 minutes . Quick and courteous staff .

Can not sign a release for my mental health records for a purchase permit because they are only open monday through friday when I have to work. People have been buying handguns for years without having to go through this unnecessary waste of time.

I called the jail to see if there was another way to send money to an inmate because online it cost 6.70 to send 20 dollars and I was given a phone number and told it would only cost 3 dollars to send money. Needless to say that was a lie because it cost 6.70 which is the same as online! Absolutely ridiculous to charge that much money to send a loved one money!

They arrested me. Like a lot. So, definitely not a fan.

The option #9 to speak to someone at the office does not work!! I've called several time and it brings me back to the options menu.

I guess it's time to move out of Mecklenburg County We thought the sheriffs were supposed to protect us how is it that illegal criminals are let out and Into our county instead of being Deported isn't his job to keep us safe It's time for him to go this is not how you take care of the people And residents of this country Are we waiting for these felons to commit more crime before we get rid of Them he needs to be held accountable and he needs to go time for a new sheriff

GARRY MCFADDEN IS A DISAPPOINTMENT! I cannot believe his job is to keep our community safe and he refuses to cooperate with ICE and let's out illegals regardless of crime.

The phone system is a waste of tax payer money. You can't talk to a deputy on the phone unless you call 911. What a waste of the call center time on non emergencies. When are they going to train the deputies how to direct traffic??? We're at the Southern Christmas show at the Park and Expo and the sheriff's dept has the traffic totally messed up. My ten year old grandson could do a better job. Let the deputies know what common sense rules and judgment is.
