Super clean water. Staff very passionate about protecting this rare ecosystem.
Bring the family, glass bottom boats, and a center to inform you of our gorgeous surroundings
Went here with my scuba class. It was the most beautiful & clear spot to go diving. Lots of surrounding nature life too!
Astonished by the boat tour. Great educational activities. Knowledgeable people and fun activity overal.
We really enjoyed the walking tour and the glass bottom boat tour.
What a beautiful place...
We stopped here for the 2nd part of our Day Trip! Tour guide was funny & informative about the river. I was amazed on the water being clear. Which the tour guide will explain more on it. If you decide to take the trip! I definitely recommend it!
I am a vendor at this pow wow and have been for 7 years. The first 3 years were great. In the past few it has been terrible and this year was the worst! We were set up near the portable restrooms and all day long that's all myself and my customers can smell. Some did not realize it and some did and walked out of my booth. I know this will continue if something is not done it will be my last time!!
Very nice glass bottom boat tour. And the aquarium is free, they have family day every month
Fun glass boat tour and mini aquarium. The tour guide was funny and my daughter loved it.
Interesting place to visit. I loved it. I would love to go back. I liked it a lot.
Very, very cool day trip with a glass bottom boat ride over Spring Lake, where spring after spring feeds it. Loved it !
A very interesting glassbottom boat tour and mini museum in the heart of San Marcos on the Texas State University grounds
This place is pretty cool. I was taken back by the whole experience and was surprised how much fun my family had here. The tour guide Ben was amazing. The kids had a blast with the boat, seeing turtles and fish, and playing on the playground.
Truly very good experience and something new....well worth the time.and money....
We went here not realizing what we were going to do. I read about an abandoned amusement park and thought it could be here.
When we got there the signage was confusing and we ended up in an area for Texas university students? We eventually found where we needed to be only to find out they were closed. The glass bottom boats will definitely be something we try next time!
The people that work there were just leaving and we're kind enough to unlock the bathrooms so we could us it. The area was still nice to explore with Texas flowers and a beautiful river to look at.
Very informative and interesting, wonderful for the kids or any age!
It was a great experience. Our tour guide, J.C., was very informative and you could definitely tell he loved being there. What made my day is that no matter what my two sons and niece (ages between 3-5) asked him, he had an answer the best to his knowledge he could possibly give a small child. Definitely worth the trip.

Had a fun time with my kids field trip. The glass bottom boat tour was interesting. Was not impressed with the small Aquarium. But had fun even though it was super hot
This place was really nice,it just brought me a breath of fresh air.
Possibly because it is winter, I found the lake pretty spooky and just okay. The color changes due to the springs was beautiful to see, we even saw some scavenger birds and an otter in the lake area.
Scenic and educational. Kids enjoyed activities and glass bottom boat ride was informative and interesting. Great staff!
Great place to being the kids and learn more about our central Texas water resources.
Still a great place just wish my kids could have been able to experience Aquarena Springs the way i did when i was a kid.
Great place for field trips. We take our 2nd graders every year. They have many different activities for them and the tour in the glass bottom boats is awesome. Most of the tour guides are excellent.
It s free on the weekends and they have Glass Bottom Boat Tours. There is also an aquarium that s free as well. I don t know about the admission during weekdays. It s a nice place to visit!
Spring Lake & glass bottom boats...a perfect combination. Love them now while you can.
I really love this tour. The waters are super clear and the boat operator was very informative.
Loved it... Absolutely beautiful and very educational..
Fun!!!! Nice boat ride, we learned a lot about the different types of fish in the water.
Nice friendly staff.
We loved it. The voats are so very nice. The tour guide was amazing. Loved the boardwalk as well. They also have a small aquarium and I wish I had known about the roof top patio. We will be back to have lunch up there on a cooler day.
Beautiful aquifer fed river. Glass bottom boat was great. Guide was informative and intelligent. Wish the ride was a wee bit longer but still rate it a 5.
Tour guides are friendly, knowledgeable and fun.
Beautiful area all along the river/pond. Half of which has easily accessible sidewalks. There is a short nature trail that is nice (if not in the heat of Texas summer!).
They sell small candies, water and Gatorade at the ticket booth. Yhere is a small gift shop setup between ticket counter and boats.
You have to pay for parking Monday through Friday, however it is free on weekends.
Thery also have a small aquarium/museum that is a nice break to get out of the heat. Very nice view from the roof patio (stairs & elevator).
Great place to take the whole family. The staff is very friendly and informative. Good place to spend the afternoon.
It's a very interesting place. Would definitely come back.
So much fun! We loved the tour and the museum was awesome.
We went there for an event. Great grounds, a lot of space and the bus shuttle was a nice surprise.
Very peaceful and educational for all ages. Great glass boat ride and learning something about this great river and its habitat. The students at the university run it.
Nice place to spend a few hours. The glass bottom boat ride is really nice, and educational for kids. The guides are really nice and answer questions from kids. The spring is very clean, with being able to see 30 feet below crystal clear. Highly recommend. You can find discounted tickets on Groupon.
Awesome experience! Knowledgeable and friendly staff!
The kids enjoy the glass bottom boat tour. It is really cool to see the springs bubbling up from the bottom of the lake. It is not too expensive to bring the family to for a nice educational experience. Only down side is not all the tour guides seem to have the same knowledge. You have great and ok guides. This last time wasn't as good as our last time. Still would go back, I learn something new every visit!
Finally became certified to bring students to Spring lake to get certified. Just got back from our first weekend and it was perfect. What a privilege to be able to train in 70 degree, crystal clear water in the Winter. Worth the drive and ever penny you spend to get to San Marcos. It s also professionally run, clean, organized, convenient, historical, on and on!
Glass bottom boats are cool, but there's not much else going on there.
Relaxing outdoor activity. Interesting to see life under the river waters from the boat. It was very hot so I recommend a small handheld fan or go during cooler weather. Besides that it was very informative and interesting to see the plants, springs and wildlife in their habitat.
This place is very beautiful and not too bad on cost.
It brought back lots of good childhood memories back when Aquarena Springs was still open.
Lovely place to visit. Family friendly and beautiful views. The glass bottom boat was quite an experience and the aquarium is nice.
It was okay, very short ride.. which is fine since we were in the enclosed boat and it was hot. We only stayed in the little area.. we didn't travel down the river. They're weren't many cool fish or colorful plants.. but the water was very clear.. until of course we hit the water the skimmer boat was cleaning, it got really murky and we couldn't see anything. On the plus side, our guide was very knowledgeable. We got a groupon for it, so it was a good deal. Something nice to do, once. Oh yea.. and they had a "free" aquarium, which was nice while you wait. It's small, not much in there, but neat.
I went there for a field trip with the kids i work with and they absolutely loved it
Great place to scuba dive because the water is clear.
the staff was so helpful and enjoyable I love my experience there
It is beautiful to see the crystal clear water and to be able to see the springs. The wetlands were very nice. Flowers were gorgeous!
Love the glass bottom boat ride. Our guide was very informative about the springs as well as local history.
Took family for something to do. My four year old and 15 yr old both enjoyed for different reasons. Wish there had been some kind of gift shop. If there was, we never saw it. But it was fun and educational at the same time.
Love they are super nice great tours and saw some huge fish!!!
One of the greatest naturally occurring spots in all of Texas. This property has been nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and features impressive glass bottom boat tours that never disappoint.
What used to be the Aquarena Springs amusement park is slowly being restored to beautiful natural areas with native grasses, plants and wildlife. The old hotel has a visitor center with fish, turtles and other aquatic animals. The glass bottom boat is worth the ride. If you go be prepared to pay for parking in addition to the cost of the boat ride.
Absolutely beautiful! More turtles than anywhere I've been in Texas.
Great place too take your family and have wondful time
