What terrible customer service. The fact that they don't carry parts for their older telescopes. Cheap small plastic parts won't ever break or get lost. But I guess with our disposal society we are expected to just throw a perfectly good telescope out because we can't get a cheap plastic part.
Meade has some quality products, and I was happy with their customer service as of recently. I have an LX90, and it has been a good reliable scope for me thus far. I believe that this company has always been a quality player in the Telescope Industry. I definitely plan to purchase more of their products in the future, and was excited to hear that they may have some new tech on the horizon in the coming year or so! Really looking forward to seeing what they have in store for me... I don't have any complaints about Meade, and have had a positive experience with them overall.
Meade Instruments corporation's main office is located at 27 Hubble in Irvine, California. I have grown up with Meade instruments, and am luck enough to have had a father-in-law who collected vintage Meade telescopes and had the knowledge and resources to fabricate vintage replacement parts when needed.
Knowing the name, I didn't hesitate to purchase an affordable spotting scope from Meade. While not the capability of the wonderful telescopes, the scope i purchased (Wilderness 126000) is just right for my 50 to 200 yard needs, has clear optics, and is very easy to use.
So... my experience with Meade products continues to be excellent. Well constructed products of all levels of quality and use. You get what you pay for with this company.
