McKinley Creekside Cabins and Cafe Reviews

McKinley Creekside Cabins is a well maintained friendly place to stay. The cabins have everything you will need to keep you comfortable, including things you may have forgotten - shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, cotton balls, cotton swabs and hair dryer. The beds are extremely comfortable with several pillows of different firmness to choose. Our room had two chairs, two tables, a king size bed, and plenty of room. The views from our room was spectacular, and the deck next to the river was an awesome place to relax. I'd encourage everyone to book here. The cage has delicious meals, and made wonderful bag lunches for our Mt Denali bus trip.

The accommodations are very nice. The location is wonderful secluded but with the amenities that you would want. The restaurant is wonderful.

The food is awesome, baked goods kept us coming back every day for our time visiting Denali. Banana nut bread, strawberry rhubarb pie and brownies were all amazing. I can t even compare to places nearby because I just kept coming back here I loved it so much. And yes the service is friendly and efficient.

Friendly and nice hosts and staff. The attached restaurant and bakery is very nice. The cabins are unfortunately quite expensive, very loud (neighbors and road) and bare basics.

We booked a cabin and the property didn't have one available when we tried to check in so they gave us a homestead room instead. The nice folks at the reception called it an upgrade and said they had not heard any complaints since these were newly constructed. I'm sure they meant well but I'd highly recommend not staying in one of these because of the ambient noise. The rooms themselves were large, clean and comfy. However, given that these homestead rooms are motel style with rooms stacked next to and above one another, the noise levels are ridiculously high. We could hear people stomping up and down the stairs at 10 pm at night, when doors are shut the thud is very audible. One night the folks above us must have decided to move furniture around, it sounded like led Zeppelin was partying upstairs. Overall terrible value for a family it you're trying to get some rest. Highly recommend staying away from these homestead rooms, they have zero insulation. It's better to sleep in your car. Needless to say, if we came back we would not stay in the homestead rooms. Can't believe they charge extra for these rooms.

Comfortable cabin with good beds, a covered porch and a small table and bench seating inside. They thoughtfully provide paper plates and bowls and plastic wear to use with the microwave. The grounds are nice, with several picnic tables in the common ares and a large covered area for families or groups to gather in.

Dinner was delicious, everyone ordered halibut of some kind. I had the magic bar for dessert and it was delicious. We got the cinnamon rolls to go for breakfast the next day, and those were the weak link for me.

Very comfortable beds, coarse bath linens, good WiFi, no cell service, smoke detector disabled. Clean. Both bathrooms in the Carlo Guest Cabin were missing soap/shower gel and my request to address problems ended up in their spam folder. Limited channels on cable so no World Cup Final or Wimbledon Final.

Location of the cabins are good. The restaurant at the lodge is nice. Rooms were pretty standard

The cabins are cute, but meh overall. The space was tight with no bedside table for the alarm, a small shower and no tv. But the food at the cafe is excellent.

We didn't stay at the cabins, but did eat at the cafe. The food was good, but the drinks left a bit to be desired: the hot water wasn't exactly hot, which meant that the tea didn't really taste of anything, despite the high price that you pay for it. Nonetheless, its location along the highway is convenient and especially after coming from the Denali Highway this feels like civilization. There are restrooms out at the back.

Comfortable and a nice creek side room with a great view. The food is great also. If you are visiting Denali, you should stay at this place.

Quiet and Comfortable with a practical eye for detail supplying all the right little things to make your stay perfect. Coffee; fridge/freezer; micro; even paper plates and utensils; shampoo/cond/shower gel. Soothing Creek. The best part is their restaurant opens at 5am so you can make your tour time and had unreal baked goods and a 5 STAR dinner experience insofar as the food. This place is the total package! We would insist everyone we know stay here.

Great food, lovely bakery section. You can stop in for a full-service meal or just pick up something from the deli/bakery. Our brunch menu items were delicious and the cookie we bought for later was the perfect afternoon treat.

We have a cute cabin right on a rushing river. Two adirondack chairs to enjoy the view. What a fantastic way to fall asleep! The owner is very accommodating. Nice that they have a restaurant right here, too.

Sounds of the tumbling creek outside our door ushered us to sleep and daybreak each day.

Stayed three nights in one of their brand new cabins. The location was perfect; close enough to Denali National Park without all of the crowds. Rooms were clean and large enough for 4 people to sleep comfortably. Nice having a refrigerator too. The staff was amazing - very friendly and helpful with suggestions and tips on Denali excursions. The cafe has very good food - opens early for breakfast through 10 p.m. Their homemade baked goods (cinnamon rolls) were delicious. Sean at the front desk was able to get us on a last minute Denali tour (to Kantishna) and was able to see the mountain! Highly recommend this place for your next trip.

Bakery products were nothing unusual. I've seen a hundred plate size cinnamon rolls if I've seen one. The fish tacos way over rated. Couple of bites fish. Dry. Seasoning ho hum. Got hard shell when I ordered soft tortilla. Basic stuff. But for that area options are limited. Like having the only water fountain in a desert. Locals and tourists take what they get and consider themselves lucky.

Great place. Clean, quiet cabins on a bold creek, excellent food, super service. Close enough to the park but not in Glitter Gulch. Look no further if you have wheels.

Delicious grilled halibut tacos. Portions are large. Very tasty food.

Great, peaceful, clean place to stay. we had a cabin along side the creek. the cabins each have 2 rooms with good wifi, a little refrigerator, comfortable bed. They have a small table and 2 chair patio/balcony overlooking the creek (at least in our room). Our son had the room next door and we couldn't hear him. Beautiful Adirondack chairs creekside made for an idyllic happy hour. We liked the restaurant and ate their for b'fast and dinner for 2 days. nice little fire pit and they sell a s'mores kit at the reception desk. A great stay. Get the creekside cabin if you can!

Beautiful location with cabins right on the creek. Comfortable bed and extremely clean room. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Highly recommend as a base for exploring Denali

Stayed at one of the king rooms for 2 nights. It was a nice accommodation and the balcony facing the creek was a nice touch. It was a clean room with a view comfy bed. Close proximity to Denali National Park; maybe 15 minutes away. The food at the cafe is just ok but not the worst I've had.

This review is for the restaurant only because I've never stayed in the cabins. The food is great and the prices aren't unreasonable (all thing considered). Definitely worth stopping in if you're heading north or south

We booked McKinley Creekside Cabins in June of 2014 for a two night stay while touring Denali Park and we were very pleased with our experience. We booked direct online with them and the service was excellent. They booked a dinner theatre for us as well as the Denali Park tour. The staff were very courteous on check in and they even arranged a continental breakfast for us as we had a very early start the next day. The cabin was very clean, spacious and comfortable. We had two very good meals in their restaurant. All in all we would highly recommend it.

We stopped here for a hearty lunch. Service was friendly and fast. It's a short drive from here to Denaii park and we found the prices reasonable (for Alaska).

My Husband and I had supper and Breakfast at this wonderful place ! Friendly staff and great food ! We unfortunately did not stay here but had booked at another place ! If we are ever in Denali National.park we will definitely be staying here !

Small but cozy creek side cabin, very clean and comes with a fridge and microwave. Conveniently located just 13 miles from the Denali National Park entrance. Friendly staff who are willing to help.

This place is unbelievably beautiful. Nice restaurant on site with a good beer selection and very friendly staff. Cabin is really lovely, great comfy bed, updated fixtures, unlimited shampoo, conditioner and lotion, and coffee/tea! No fridge in the little cabins.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. It is less than 20 minutes drive to Denali NP. The cabin has its own bathroom and shower with warm water, when I/was looking for cabin in that area found out some don't. Small river was going in front of our cabin which provided a nice view. Cabin itself was beautiful and comfortable. We also ate at the caffe several times. Staff are all very friendly and food and pastry taste good.

Our group got in a bit late at night so while we where waiting to get our rooms in order we accidentally got a bit too loud. We weren't use to it still being light out so late. The owner did not like that one bit so he came out house screaming and cussing at us to stop talking and go inside. (we weren't really talking all too loud). All he really needed to do was tell us to "quite down, it's very late" and we would have immediately quoted down. His reaction was quite uncalled for and not good for business. The place is alright but it's lacking in the customer service aspect.

Making reservation I thought I would be getting a cabin but I got a Room in a building with 6 rooms. We are on honeymood we want cabin view experience. Still nice but was not what expecting. Nice cabin, clean room.

It was beautiful and pretty remote, cabins nearby nut never heard or saw anyone. The room was lovely and fully stocked with the essentials! Cozy bed and atmosphere all around

Cabin was fantastic. Clean and new and right by the creek. We great service and food in the cafe. The potatoes in the breakfast skillet were cooked just as we like them - extra crispy!

Everything was nice except for the fact that we got our friends room and they got ours... Don't know what mixup happened there but that just meant they had to carry their luggage up stairs, but we didn't.

What a beautiful place to stop!!! We crusied in from some yummy baked goodies and AMAZING coffee! We missed being able to each breakfast and came to early for dinner. The property is very clean, groomed and a great layout to the property. Sits right by the creek! We can't wait to come back and rent a cabin next time! They've taken all precautions to maintain a clean and safe environment.

Friendliest staff, cute rooms on a peaceful Creek, delicious food, and amazing food. You can get bear spray and binoculars for just putting down a refundable deposit to use in Denali. Overall, MCC was awesome and the next time I come through Denali this is where I'm staying!

Prices are high for the portion size. Beautiful facility though, and they offer free WiFi.
