Yummy Fish and Chips, Curried Slaw very interesting.
Love this place. There's nothing bad I could possibly say about any trip here.
Wow. Sorry for sleeping on this place for so long. Stunning fish and chips plate. Love the atmosphere. Great place.
Excellent service, good food!! Our first time here, already planning to come back!
The Beer Cheese soup was outstanding, but the corned beef and potatoes with cabbage was second rate. Minimal flavor in the corned beef, runny potatoes and 3 times as much cabbage as potatoes. Could not recommend
I have always enjoyed McGee's from when they opened in the 90's. Wonderful food, good charm.
These guys were very friendly and fast serving.. The food was amazing and very filling. I love the Scot-Irish theme. I would recommend this place to anyone with Celtic roots that want food made from the motherland.. Delicious!
Loved the band and atmosphere! The food and services was ok.
Wow this place is the real deal. Some of the best Irish pub food I have had in the Southeast.
Had to have a mask to be seated two feet away from the front door.
I went in there this afternoon and ordered the whiskey sirloin the sirloin I got was very chewy I will never order that steak again the service was good but the steak and the food was horrible
Amazing service and especially the food. Easily the best place in Anderson to dine in.
I love this place great beers on tap super chow love love love it
I didn't get to eat here, but the ambiance is excellent: good beer quickly served, great Trivial Pursuit, not either empty or jammed (8 PM Wed) etc.
Had a great meal and it was 2 hrs from us. I had Shepherds pie and my hubby had cabbage and cornbeef... plus onion soup. Best onion soup we've had in years. Mike allowed me a taste of stout ...I've never tried it.
My family and I eat here pretty regularly when we're in town, and the food and service are always great.
Service was a little slow but the food was amazing. Huge portions. The brussel sprouts were like a dessert, the fried chicken on top of the macaroni was crispy and light excellent seasoning. Will definitely go back.
Fantastic local find! Pub food at its best! Cozy and welcoming feel. Shepard's pie and prime rib well worth the money. Our server, Steven, has a great personality and made our experience even better. We will definitely be back.
Anazing food, great cozy atmosphere. Love this place!
I drive all the way from Aiken to get McGee's corned beef and cabbage and hubby loves the bangers and mash. The atmosphere is fun, the staff is super friendly, and we love visiting when they've got a live band playing authentic Scots-Irish folk songs.
Great atmosphere excellent food and a wonderful selection of Beer and fine wines.
Excellent food and service. Friendly staff. Outside dining area perfect.
Excellent service and delicious food and friendly atmosphere
I have been there quite a few times. Amazing food and a very exstenive menu. Everyone is polite the owner John is top notch management and owner. I have never had anything that did not taste good nor have I ever had an unpleasant experience. I would recommend this place just sit down and have a couple of beers, a family dinner or a private engagement.
Great food and service every single time. Our family s favorite place in the summer!
Fantastic food, great atmosphere, great staff and off to the beaten path. Love it.
The food is always delicious!! We had Chris as our server today and he was fantastic!!
The food was great the vegetables we're a little undercooked but still had a great taste to them the beer selection was a little small for a pub but the beer I tried was good service was great and the aesthetic was very nice I went on a Sunday so it wasn't very crowded but I could see it being a great place to hang out and drink some beer with friends while enjoying great food the Shepard's pie was fantastic as well as the sheeploaf I'd definitely go here again
My husband and I attempt to go to McGees at least once a month and they always impress. It's our favorite date night. The service and the food are great! The bangers and mash are my favorite dish and he loves all the steaks they offer. You have to try the Dragon egg appetizers if you like pimento cheese.Together the two of us have tried half of the menu and we always leave stuffed. We also tried the Baileys cheesecake last time and it did not disappoint!
Love the food, staff, and atmosphere. Celtic pub music on Friday nights. Awesome!
The atmosphere is truly traditional! I would have liked a few more options on the menu but it was limited because of it being St. Patrick's day!
service excellent. alcohol selection very good. food, leave it to an American to think that this place serves Irish food. The food in this place is absolutely terrible. Must be bad when they can't even get fish & chips right. Fish was way under cooked & was basically only good to go in the trash. Their so called Irish stew, well I don't even have a words to describe it. wouldn't feed it to a dog. Will never eat here again. Not even close to Irish food.
Had the Rueben which was very good. Way more food than I could eat.
Very amazing! Great food great drinks and great service.
Food is the best for pub style in Anderson. Good cabbage and potatoes.
Great food, especially the shrimp and grits, great service.
I was at a function hosted in the back room. The service was okay but the waitress didn't have much help. ( poor planning on the restaurant's part) The food I ordered was not prepared the way I ordered it. The food still tasted good even though it was overcooked.
I have never had a bad experience! Great food and service!
We shared the beer cheese soup, which was creamy and just the right amount of cheesy/beer flavor. Then we fought over the shepherds pie! Delicious! We will be back for sure
You must try the Celtic Dragon eggs!!! The best things ever!! Great atmosphere! Perfect for date night!
Thanks to the new head chef, Jason, the pub is revitalised. Food is a touch pricey, but oh so worth it. If you aren't a member of the clean plate club, you can easily join up here.
Always grateful to have the luxury to go out to eat.
Literally the worst experience I've EVER had. First off we had to wait 10 minutes for a drink order, soon after that we had to wait 15 more minutes before flagging someone down to get a check because no-one had even tried to take our order. Once we got someone's attention we had to wait an additional 10 minutes for the check. As we were leaving I made a comment about yelp and the owner proceeded to berate me about "trashing" him. So that's what I'm doing now 0 stars if possible but DO NOT GO HERE! You will be doing yourself a favor!!!!!
Great Irish Food, Cozy Atmosphere and Extensive beer and wine choices.
Plus live music, games and theme dinners quite often.
Great place in downtown Anderson. Excellent food, great service, and nice drink menu & happy hour Tuesday - Friday.
Placed a simple order for two Rubin sandwiches... the order was quickly filled .. the fries were well done and flavorful... that's were it ended.. what use to be one of. if not the best rubin in town has become the worst ...i believeit was corned beef on the sandwich but I'm can't be sure almost no sauerkraut.. no Swiss cheese and well we put 1000 island dressing ourself...over all what was once my go to place for food.. drinks and entertainment has sadly become ...3rd rate....next time I want a rubin..ill just go to arbbys ..
Reply .. you can stop wondering ....your place was once on our list of go to plces for our small group of friends..your decline was offen talked about ..on our last vist a conversation was had with the waiter about the poor quality of the food ..i had Shepard pie..it lacked any flavor and was more like Shepard soup.... he just smiled and offered his. im sorry..this last order was my last chance for you .. dont be up set your not the only place in town that has become less then what they once were ......as far as people telling u the food is great ....people are like that .. wont tell you is not so good to your face ....i know this because I have 20 plus years of customer service....like i said .. you once had a very wonderful place but now its just a place with ..it was ok.food ..perhaps you should sit and try and figure out what you changed...it might help .. ..

This place always looks good. The specials have a great variety. I have to say the portions are huge but I don't mind because the food is really good. Live music, great service!
Great food, atmosphere and service, reasonably priced
Great traditional Irish menu. And some American favorites too. Nice live entertainment when we were there too.
Good food and excellent service. Really good atmosphere
John and Dixie... well, all I can say is GOD bless their moms n dads for birthing these two. Fate put them together, and now McGees is a much talked about landmark in Anderson. They have the best staff, great chefs, a wonderful reconditioned building, the best beers from all around our big ol' world, and a varied menu that never gets tiring. Personally, I love their HUGE portion of fish n chips, but honestly, I have never ever had a bad meal there. They catered my wedding rehearsal party and I had family from New York to Florida attend, they loved it! Great memories in a GREAT restaurant. Aside from the food, they have some of the greatest entertainment in the area, like 7 Nations, Searson, The Paperboys, The Prodigals, and many many more top flight bands. John is a great civic minded asset to our community, but I worry about him, he doesn't seem as carefree as he once was.Guess it goes with the territory and responsibility. He still runs one of upstate South Carolinas greatest bar/restaurants. I highly recommend this establishment, they deserve the patronage! You will not be disappointed.
Amazing service and the best bangers and mash since I hot home from my trip to Scotland last year
Great food, Irish atmosphere. Solid beer choices. Friendly staff. 9/10
We were looking for drinks and snacks and found just the place. Owner is super friendly and the Dragons Eggs (fried pimento chz) are GREAT! Incredible soups too
This food looks very appetizing but it had zero palatable flavors. Basic elements to give it any flavor at all were missing. Like salt, pepper on the mashed potatoes. This is basic, basic cooking 101. I had eaten the steak the first time we ate here and it was good. My family got mead chicken and was disappointed. This time(we like to give everything a second chance if possible) we got pork chops and trout. The menu says pecan encrusted on the trout, no way!! Paprika encrusted maybe. The skin was left on and it was broiled. The skin was slimy and a weird consistency making the fish taste strange. The taters had huge lumps if you like that kind of thing. Had the carrot butternut squash "bisque " and there was nothing bisque about it. Very, very lumpy, heavy on ginger or nutmeg. Not creamy at all. Overall, a HUGE disappointment for the money we spent. We are new to town, and have been looking for good restaurants. We ate at a little diner in pelzer the other night and our whole meal including a huge burger for our dog was 17 bucks. That's how much I paid for just my salmon. Our meal at Mcgees was over 50 bucks for lunch. Yea, 50. They need a lunch menu and they said they were working on changing the menu and it seems to me they need to work a little harder at executing the menu they already have. I honestly dont know why this is rated so high unless it's a local thing.
Great food! I got bangers & mash (sausage, mashed potatoes, apples, tomatoes, onions) for dinner, bumbershoots (fried mushrooms appetizer) & mountain apple fruit crumble dessert. Everything was great! Prices were reasonable. Place was empty for a Friday night, but I had a great time.
Great pub atmosphere and locally sourced, traditional Irish food. Definitely a must if you're looking for good grub and a local pub.
Excellent atmosphere. Great selection of spirits accompanied by amazing food.
Food was great, service excellent pleasant atmosphere.
We saw photos of the food and drove an hour to come eat here. It was completely worth it! Everything we had was fantastic -- duck and lentil soup, pork chops with mashed potatoes and winter vegetables. We met the owner, John, on the way in, discovered he's a fan of our hometown, and had a lovely conversation when he visited our table. Couldn't have enjoyed it more.
Great food choices, tasty flavor combination. Fish and chips are top notch, 2 large beer batter dipped cod fellets make it a value.
Really neat place. Reminds me of an Irish pub I used to go to many years ago. I will be back especially for some of the food items. I love the atmosphere!
Loved it..pricey but great food..only problem I had was too much pepper in my mashed potatoes..
The shrimp & grits we're wonderful. Our server was very nice. Several different types of beer to choose from also. Very nice restaurant & decor.
Nice atmosphere, helpful friendly staff
.
Had the Ruben...Chucky beef held together with fat. Skimpy portion. Worst sandwich I've had in South Carolina
This pub was a great find and its literally up the street from home. We enjoyed everything. The atmosphere, the people and the food was amazing!
The food was a little heavy to my liking and we came at a quiet hour so it was a little uncomfortable but overall it wasn't horrible.
