I met Mayor Turner long ago through a good friend. He listened, I appreciated that. I retired from the city in 2012. I got a letter last week from Aetna insurance cancelling my PPO plan which the city offered in 2020.
I emailed the retiree benefits office. I got a rude email unsigned on Sunday.
The writer actually threatened not to help me if I used combative language any further. I didn't do that, and this individual needs help. Dealing with city employees is always a crapshoot. Some are great, but many are not. I know I worked for this city for 25 yrs.

I want to know why this Mayor treats the fire department as bad as he does. He wouldn t have become Mayor if it wasn t for the big Fire dept vote. I have voted for him on two occasions because I felt he was a man of his word. Wrong. The people of Houston need to be more aggressive and responsible when it comes to both the Fire Dept and Police. These Fire men and women deserve our best in financial giving them a decent salary. As a head of family they have to take on extra jobs.Fire Dept hasn t had a raise in about 8 years. Many didn t complain because they knew that they had a good retirement package. People plan the length of their working career their retirement and then comes the city and throw a wrench in everyone s retirement meet plan. By the way why is it also so terrible that we have such awful equipment. The Fire station in
Clearlake on Saturn has issues all the time with the gauges and sirens not working. Come on Houston get your act together. What a bunch of cheap asses. So when your house is burning down what will be their excuse be? Oh we re sorry our truck broke down. How sad for being the fourth largest fire dept in the nation. Your parks maintenance people make more than Fireman do and a third of them sleep on the job. I ve lived in Houston for the past 43 years so I m not a newbie to the area. Gone thru plenty of Mayors not happy with this one and I m sad to say I thought he was a man of character. Really did like him. Not anymore

If you ever need a permit to do anything in the city of Houston please save yourself the time and aggravation and don't do it! The mayor's office is an absolute joke, the building permit and flood plan permit departments are absolute jokes as well. I have tried to follow the letter of the law to pour a simple cement slab on the side of my garage at my house and I am getting the runaround by everybody. This is nothing short of an absolute joke and a circus, plus it's not even a good circus!!!
I cannot wait for the next election!!!

I reported my trash can stolen on May 11, 2017, and I still do not have a replacement. I have called 311 on multiple occasions, spoken to several people including Ms Walker who I was informed to be a supervisor. If I was white and lived in an affluent neighborhood, my replacement would have probably come the same day. The situation and the attitudes of the 311 staff is unacceptable.
I would like to commend Ms Taylor one of the 311 customer access representative for getting the problem resolved on May 25th. I spoke with Ms Taylor on May 24th and I received my replacement on May 25th. Ms Taylor had concern and empathy for the situation. I spoke with Ms Taylor's supv, Mr Roche to advise him of the great employee he has on his team. I wish everyone at the 311 desks could take lessons from Ms Taylor.

No response to the plethora of problems plaguing the city. 311 wont even answer. All while Turner and his cronies rob the city through corrupt contract bids and abuse city resources for their own personal use.
