Great, informative tour and the HUGE scoop of icecream included with the ticket price is a great bonus.
Great, informative tour and the HUGE scoop of icecream included with the ticket price is a great bonus.
My 8 year old loved taking the tour and was very interested in the history and making of ice cream. He has autism so I wasn't sure how it would go for him. It endedup being a great experience for him. And we got ice cream at the end!
If you are trucker picking up or delivering stuff there they will work fast on your load. While you are waiting do not miss the opportunity to take a tour of the plant. You will get huge ice cream in the price of the tour. The ice creams are very good. Everybody was so nice over there.
What fun! We enjoyed our trip through the gift shop and we loved our ice cream cones.
We always love stopping at Mayfield's. The tour is interesting. The ice cream is delicious.
It's especially a great place to take children. The tour of the process of making milk bottles and the packaging of milk is fascinating. And the free icrecream at the end - yum.
Very friendly people to work with when delivering milk. Store has near items and ice cream shop. Nice place!!
My 3-5 year old nice's love it. It took a minute for the 3 year old to wear the hair net.
It's a great tour for only $5. We go for the ice cream cone at the end.
Grandchildren loved it, especially the ice cream at the end of the tour.
Nice, informative tour, really good ice cream. Worth the trip.
The tour here is great for the adults and kids, but we keep coming back just for a sweet treat at the ice cream shop. The selection is wide and flavors are great. The price just can't be beat either.
The service here is just as great if not better than the ice cream they sell and the ice cream is my favorite! I give 4 stars if everything is as expected but 5 if I'm wowed or surprised. Not only were the ladies working fast and politely to accommodate such large crowds, they are they the same even on slow days and you always leave with a huge serving of ice cream... A great value! I've only been here twice as I'm not a local (I am now!) but for as long as my bf can remember, it's been that way since he was a boy. I will definitely be back for my favorite which has been the salted caramel toffee (something like that) and the banana pudding! Yum!
Creamy sweet goodness
Takes you to a place as a child
Family friendly
Tours available great prices
We had fun on the tour!! Icecream at the end was amazing!+
Great place to go visit, enjoy an amazing scoop of any flavor ice cream you could want, and they have some pretty cool stuff in the gift shop too! Employees are nice, music is great, and the tour is fun as well!
Very cool seeing how milk and ice cream are packaged.
The tours here are great and their ice cream and milk taste great
Awesome, loved it, going back soon, the ice cream soooooo good, going to take my granddaughter there
Minor fee for a fun and informative tour. The guide was informative and you could see a lot of the process. The perk was of course the ice cream finish. May go again next year and take other family members.
Great place to tour, friendly staff, and good amount of parking. The gift shop has all kinds of stuff to look around at and possibly buy. The tour does have some stairs and slippery areas to walk through. One day a week the ice cream guys do get a day off; and one day a week the regular production guys get a day off.
Great place to visit. Very friendly staff and Awesome tour.
The tour is good but very short. Ice cream is good aswell.
The ice cream is the best in the state and the price can not be beat.
Great time. Took our 3 Grandsons on a rainy day. Educational and fun at the same time. Free ice cream at the end was a excellent bonus. Highly recommended for a great family day.
Not terribly educational or fun, really. Best part was the ice cream.
Ice cream was the best! Bought a few gifts but the tour is closed on Wednesday, was disappointed but we still got icecream, the best!
Great place, very thorough your and very clean! Nice touch with the ice cream at the end of tour!
Great fun. Learn a lot and the ice cream is great. Great value.
Went here on a filedtrip with my daughter , had so much fun !
Inexpensive and kids love it! Especially the free ice cream!
Kaitlin and Angela are the best.. Great customer service.
Great place very informative on process of Mayfield product s
A fun place to visit even though the plant was shutdown because it was the weekend. Some cool videos and we got to see part of the shutdown plant. The admission was only $3.50 due to the shutdown, regularly $4.50. But hey a scoop of their ice cream is included and it was worth the $3.50 by itself. I recommend the extreme moose tracks if you like chocolate.
Don't go on a Saturday. The plant is completely shutdown and all you get to see is some maintenance guys washing the equipment. The tour was a measly 20 minutes and was about the most boring thing I've done recently.
We enjoyed the Mayfield Dairy tour, two seniors and two Grandkids. The tour included the creamiest icecream at the end of the tour plus awhile in the rocking chairs on the porch!
The kids liked the tour and of course the free ice cream
Didn't get to do the tour but had some amazing ice cream. Extreme Moose Tracks. Best ice cream ever
My granddaughter, and great-grandchildren loved touring the plant. The ice cream is delicious. Highly recommend visiting with kids.
Nice tour with free ice cream at the end,the tour itself costed 4.90 however.
Love having the kids learning about how things are produced.
This place could be really great, I wouldnt know. I gave 2 stars because we drove 60 miles for a tour only to be told that they dont do tours on Wednesdays. Great information...FOR THE WEBSITE :( before someone drives all that way. We did get ice cream but we could have bought that at our local grocery store. The cones were stale. We told the girl behind the counter and she said she changed them the day before yesterday. Okay? Well you may want to check how they are stored. We had to get spoons to eat our ice cream out of the cone. They have a cute gift shop with lots of toys, shirts, and other souvenirs. There are lots of opportunities for photos outside (a giant fake cow, beautiful wall muriel, and a fake cow laying down). There are also a couple fake cows for you to pretend milking right inside the door. We were here for about an hour and a half taking photos, shopping in gift shop, and ordering & eating ice cream. I gave 2 stars because of the "we don't do tours on Wednesdays". My advice is to call ahead because they only tour a couple times a day and I don't want anyone else's children to be upset that you traveled for this cool experience just to be let down. We are from Florida so I doubt we will be back. Call first so you aren't dissappointed.
The tour is $4.50 for adults. It starts out with a video on the history of Mayfield and then you begin the tour. I think the entire thing took about 30 minutes. It was very interesting to watch all the different steps. Others have said that it was hard to hear the tour guide, and I could see that especially for larger groups as the facotry is loud on places. It was just my husband and I touring when we went so I was able to hear just fine. During the tour there are several stairs and the floor is slippery for a lot of it so wear appropriate shoes. After the tour you get an ice cream scoop in a cup/sugar cone. You can upgrade to a double scoop, waffle cone, or sundae for $1. Just a single scoop costs $2.50 so it's like paying $2 for the tour. There is a little gift shop where you can buy Mayfield merch and other farmhouse items. Overall, it's a lovely experience for the price.
The ice cream is so good, much better than the stuff in the grocery store. There is a cute gift shop as well. They do require a mask to enter the shop and ice cream must be ordered and eaten outside. Bonus points they had a dairy free popsicle that my youngest could enjoy!
A great family environment very educational the show you how the ice cream in the milk is processed and in the end of the tour you get a free scoop of ice cream
Awesome place for a tour and some fresh ice cream. Several specialty flavors not available anywhere else. Well worth the 7 minute detour off of I40.
That was great!!! I have always loved Mayfield Ice Cream.
We went with my son's field trip it was awesome. Not expensive at all to get in. The tour was very insightful and you get fresh ice cream at the end which was delicious. Definitely going back
The tour was educational. The ice cream is amazing! I learned allot. The kids enjoyed it.
I absolutely loved taking my niece here. She just thought she was going to get to milk real cows, but was satisfied with milking the fake cows in the lobby.
This place is amazing. I really love the gift shop and the ice cream of course.
Very interesting tour and the ice cream can't be beat!
TL;DR Go if you're a parent that needs a quick 30 minute break from their kid during a long road trip and have a scoop of the peach ice cream. Both are worth the detour.
Mayfield Dairy Farms is a nice place to stop by and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Be sure to park on the side with the mural rather than the very plain entrance.
I appreciated the painted yellow brick road on the street to help guide me to the visitor center. A very large brown cow, Maggie, will be welcoming you by the entrance of the welcome center and the small tabled area. In the area another brass cow stature is laying down and makes for a good photo opportunity. Maggie is a great photo opportunity to send to your family and friends, but not one to share as an influencer or a professional. The sheer height of Maggie makes it hard to get a good angle. Additionally the placement of Maggie, beside the visiter center, interferes with the natural lighting and always ensures that she is partially in the shade.
The gift shop / visitor center is nice and has a lot of cow related trinkets, nothing too extra ordinary is sold here. By the entrance there is a another brown cow that allows youngsters the opportunity to learn how to milk a cow with plastic udders. On the other side of the entrance there is a informative infographic about how ice cream is made. Clearly the target of the visitor center is for children and young adults with too much time on their hand and no where to go.
The peach ice cream is fantastic, while the others are not as impressive. The brown cow is extremely icy and skimpy on the chocolate. The cherry, strawberry, and banana split are moderately enjoyable.
Wonderful place to stop and see. $1 to do the tour and you get a scoop of ice cream at the end.
Cheap and quick. Nice outdoor seating, not sure indoor is an option.
