Not worth visiting as it is a big building site at the moment. Such a huge operation and trees have been felled to make room for the expansion. Edradour was much more the traditional Scottish distillery than this huge factory.

definitely a slightly different leadership but also distillery in itself. You can tell right away that the new building is completely designed, everything looks very sterile and without character. the guide does not save on effects and interaction (looks more like a current museum tour)
So it is especially worth seeing as you can raise the theme completely glossy ... who likes it ...

very bad is the signage on the premises, especially if you arrive here on foot you are lost first.

I enjoyed my six pillars tour. The tour guide Samantha appeared knowledgeable and delivered her tour well. All of the staff were polite and professional and the view around the distillery is amazing. I picked the brains of the bar tender George as I tried a few other Macallans I had wanted to try and found him to offer some good information on different varieties.

We were booked in via email as we had too pre book before we arrived. On our tour we had 8 on it which made it very personal. We were told about the local area and how they go about what they do. We were allowed too taste some of the new made spirt which was amazing too try. Then they got into how they went about choosing there wood and how they influence the spirit. Then when we finished the tour we were given the chance too try 5 whiskeys ranging from new made all the way through to there 18 year old. Then had the chance too walk around the local shop and see what they had too offer.

As a fan of one of the Macallan whiskies, I had to visit. We managed to see the iconic homestead on the logo and tried some new whiskies we've never tried before. Unfortunately, because of their massive expansion to various markets, it's not the quaint distillery we were hoping for. This is a tourist attraction, not a craftman's workshop. You can see the massive structures from almost any point throughout Aberlour.
Glad to have visited and to say I've been, but won't be going back.

New distillery, DONT waste your time!!!

New distillery, DONT waste your time!!!

The new distillery is a majestic construction, throughout the visit, they explain the process through modern artifices and special effects. From the first moment you have the impression that you are not in a whiskey distillery, you feel like in another place, as in an impressive fairground, shopping center, disneyworld ... but not in a distillery.

As the visit progresses, even though the guide was friendly, that feeling of emptiness is getting stronger and stronger.

When we were all waiting for the big moment, being able to enter the whiskey warehouse, and be able to smell and touch those wooden barrels ... they tell us that the visit is over. A visit to a distillery without visiting one of the most important moments in the process of a good whiskey?

By asking Macallan staff, we are informed that visits are not allowed to enter the whiskey warehouses, and that tour visitors never see this part of the process. How can this be possible? As a regular consumer of Macallan, I felt very disappointed.

During the trip we visited other distilleries such as Glenfiddich & Glenfarclas, really interesting tours in authentic traditional distilleries, and of course, we were able to enter their whiskey warehouses.
