Best deli around. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is out of this world. They have plenty of options, and their sandwiches are literally unbeatable. They also have great bagels, breads and cookies. There can be a wait during peak times, but it's always worth it. Plus, the owners are the nicest people around (and they work hard), so it's always nice to support them.

Wow! Everything was perfect. The food was delicious, the portions generous, lots of little extras. I've been using Max's for as long as I can remember, and I can never get over seeing their clientele kvetch, whine and criticize. I guess the owners just figure it comes with the territory.

We got seated very quickly when we arrived, but waited a very long time for menus and to have our orders taken. When we placed our orders, we asked for the bread basket and pickles. We also asked for the fries to come out first since the kids were getting until unruly. Again we waited a very long time until all of our food arrived at once along with the bread basket and pickles. The food was very bland and only moderately priced for what it was. The one positive that I will say is that the staff was very nice though.

Max's is that local favorite you love because they're so reliable and consistent. The pickles and Bread basket upon arriving at your table are endless and they brew a decent mug of coffee. I love that their menu boasts some interesting surprises like an organic roasted chicken with grilled vegetables. I'm happy every visit and haven't been disappointed in the meal or service. The prices are a little high but you'll be satisfied with the portions. Don't forget to grab some dessert or bakery items at checkout. And if you have food allergies like me, don't worry, I have a dairy/gluten allergy and they've been clean! There's a huge lunch crowd but dissipates by 1-2p.m.

I ate here but it had a strange energy about the place. The food was reasonable but the guy behind the counter had a strange smirk when i spoke to him. I don't know what it was. It was like i had my zipper down or something. It got me worried.

Decent food but portions are noteably smaller than any breakfast place I ve been to in the area. My biggest gripe is the service. They are constantly understaffed and the staff they have clearly doesn t want to be there. After waiting for ten minutes to be seated (with no line, My party is the only one there) I wait another fifteen minutes for anyone to come by for drink orders. I ve been here a few times and without exaggeration they messed up at least one order each time. There isn t much done to fix this either so you end up paying $$ for food that you didn t order.

If you scroll through the feedback you ll see that this is a common theme for many that have eaten here. I always leave feeling robbed. I won t be going back to Max s again till they change ownership. Seriously, forget this place. There are plenty of great options nearby.

I was hoping for more even when I was handed the menu and followed the hostess to our table with out saying hello or any kind of greeting. Dealing with a cold I wanted chicken noodle soup and was brought noodles with broth, tasteless and without any other ingredients. Used the bathroom and it was filthy and not useable. Our server was polite and friendly but the rest of the staff was loud in an unprofessional way, and instead of assisting an older lady get out of her sitting arrangements they continued to chat and laugh as if they were at a Mexican Fiesta.

This place rocks. Not only is the food good, the helpings big, and the vibe extremely friendly...but the ownership/management/staff is extremely interested in connecting with each customer and ensuring a good experience. They also do some cool things for the community, like the Guitar Center Recital that they hosted tonight. Excited kids with proud parents, and they do a great job with the chaos!

We carried in corned beef, pastrami, potato salad, pickle and rye bread for dinner last week. The food was all delicious. The staff was polite and friendly and everything seemed clean. Prices were moderate, as well. Thumbs up.

It's beyond disturbing that an "American" would think that the lives of fifty people were disposable because of the color of the skin. My assumption is you'd have been happier more, if the 500 injured died. Food made with hatred! Sickening!

I had one of most satisfying deli experiences I have ever had here. The corned beef was perfectly sliced and utterly delightful. The pickles and bread that came to the table started the meal on a perfect note.

The owner is a little wacky. He's screamed at older people waiting in the wrong line, and engages in conversation about Italian species vs Jewish appetites. I think he's harmless, just odd. However the good is great! Try their soups. Fantastic. Their club sandwich, with turkey bacon instead of pork, is a treat and a challenge to eat in one sitting. All their foods are the absolute highest quality, that's a real consideration.

My favorite is a turkey pastrami Reuben, with the side of mashed potatoes and gravy. It just knocks me out.

Max's Club sandwich (I get turkey bacon), but the sandwich is almost impossible to finish in one shot. Great to take some home to feast in later!

Ordered take out and they forgot 3 out of the 5 it...

Ordered take out and they forgot 3 out of the 5 items that we ordered. Had to go back to the restaurant to get the food and then had to wait 20 minutes while the owner answered the phone just to tell customers calling in that he could not take anymore phone orders and told people they had to come into the restaurant and place their order in person. In the 20 minutes I was waiting there they had one person taking orders who helped a total of 1 customer the entire time I was there. Finally one of the 4 other people getting orders together behind the counter asked if they could help me. I told them that they left out over half of our order and I was there to pick it up. Told them what was not included the another gentleman that stepped up to assist started to get testy as if I was the reason they could not get their orders straight. They finally got the rest of the order together and 20 minutes later I was back on my way. While I was there I counted a total of 5 other customers in the restaurant. All of them had to wait for their orders and even if the orders were paid in advance they had to wait while the staff rang in the order. The owner could have been the most incompetent person I have ever dealt with and his staff followed his lead. He dis offer me a $25.00 gift card for the inconvenience, but since I never plan to dine there again I told him to keep it. When I got home to have dinner with my family for Chanukah, my kids had eaten, my Wife and Mother-in-law had eaten. So I got to enjoy my stone cold Reuben sandwich and cold fries and my Wife had a warm bowl of Matzah ball soup just so I wasn't sitting at the table by myself. The food there is usually adequate but not good enough to eat there regularly even though it is around the corner from our house. The main reason I will never go back is the owner. He basically greeted everyone that walked in by asking them to stay patient and they will be with them in a minute because they had so many orders they could not keep up with it all. He hung up on my wife when she called in to let him know the items that they forgot and told her just to have me come in and they will sort it out. All I was thinking the entire time I was there is that most people greet their customers, find out why they are there, and then direct them where to go or tell one of their employees to check for their order. Not this owner it was more important to worry about the people not in the store and get them situated before dealing with the people right in front of them. Sorry for the rambling review but from now on Max and Bennys will get my business even though they are further from my house.

Terrible service, both girls behind the counter were rude. Bought a Turkey sandwich, it come with nothing on it. No lettuce, mayo or mustard. Who does that? Never going back. Upper crust bagel in deerfield is a much better sandwich and about half the price.

Order 4 items from Max's and 1 item had extras missing. We called and the rude hostess said "The kitchen made it and it's not here so you have it." She treated us like we were trying to scam them for a little bit of chicken and noodles that goes into a soup.

After reading some of the reviews I expected the wait staff to be slow and indifferent. Instead my experience was complete 180 degree, our waiter was friendly and attentive without being brother some.

We have been to the famous, well know delis in L.A. and NYC, most of those meals was good but can t understand why people pay outrage prices for those sandwiches. To my delight Max s is slightly better than those delis and much better value. Our Matzo ball soup was little more salted than I like, but good. Our Corned beef and roasted beef sandwich was moist, tasty, wish they pile on little more meat. But can complaint too much for the price. A good find.

I was in complete shock to see the owner of this place not wearing a mask and when my cousin asked him why he wasn t, he laughed at him. I will never go here again. Expect to stand in a line out the door to pay for your meal, mediocre food and a rude establishment.

GROSSLY overpriced. $25+ for TWO slightly above average sandwiches (American cheese with turkey on a bagel)... prices weren't clearly visible either. Never returning due to outrageous prices for a decent lunch. MUCH better food quality and prices are available.

This is NOT the first nor apparently last time that they have messed up SOUP. I just got home with my matzo ball soup only to have it contain not ONE, nor a single crumb, of matzo. There have been countless times that I have asked for additional ingredients to be put in, repeated back to me, and have been charged for! only to be ignored. I call only to be dismissed and at this point I will not return but go elsewhere. It's a shame, I adore your matzo ball soup but it's not worth this disappointment time and time again.

I WAS a regular, good customer for over 10 years. I love the folks who work there. I'm sorry they have to work for such a despicable lout. I hope they find employment elsewhere when they go out of business very soon.

Took 25 minutes to get two bagel sandwiches and a half dozen bagels. Then when we got home we opened the bag to find 5 bagels instead of 6. The food here is good, but the service leaves a lot to be desired.

Use to be a great place for very good comfort food no longer. Refuse to go anymore for many reasons mostly because the staff always looks and acts angry Max's used to be good unfortunately no longer. The owner must see this happening so shame on you.

One of those last resort kind of restaurants. Can't reccomend it unless you have no other choice. If you like places that aren't so clean, where the folks ain't very friendly and where the food is over-priced and so-so quality the Max's is perfect. I was at Binny's and craving some lox on a bagel so I stopped in. Lox was fair but not very much of it, no onion, no tomato (I asked for both) and the bagel might have been a few days old. Pretty pricey for a not so great meal. Next time I'll drive a few miles.

The matzo ball soup is not very good! Watery soup with hardly any flavor and the matzo ball itself is not good either. Who puts spices in a matzo ball? I don't know what those green dots are! Corned beef was good, though the rye bread was a bit hard - and once we finally got someone to serve us, the Service was ok, though we had to ASK for pickles and more water. I'm disappointed though - Just not what it was 5 years ago.

Superb customer service. Friendly welcoming atmosphere. Better than average variety of deli dishes such as salads, sandwiches, baked goods, and tasty sides. Excellent fries and green veggie burgers.

NY Deli? Ha. No pickles on table or anywhere insight, none offered or suggested. Cole slaw was way too sweet. My pastrami and corned beef combo sandwich was made using slices from the ends, and no self-respecting deli would ever do that. Good deli owners are willing to make sure the ends only get used for scraps or in breakfast dishes with eggs, and not put on the sandwiches. The pastrami and the corned beef were pretty tasteless-no better tasting than pre-packaged stuff from the supermarket, though from the display counter one would have expected better. I may giove them another try, but this native NYCer trabnsplanted to this area is so far not very impressed.
