The way MAWSA does business, it's amazing they haven't been fined by the Public Utilities Commission! If you are a renter, BEWARE!!! They won't send you a bill in the mail, but they will send it to your landlord. If he/she doesn't tell you in time, you'll end up paying a late fee. If you ask them to send you a bill in the mail, they will.... but for a price! So your only other option is to pay online, and surprise, surprise, there's a 4.95 "convenience fee" for paying online!
Yes, that's right. You have to pay extra for them to send you your own bill in the mail, and then pay an extra surcharge for the "convenience" of online payment.
And good luck if you try to call them to complain-- you'll get told off by a snotty moron who's incapable of answering your questions, but I guess it's okay to throw customer service out the window when you have a monopoly and you know the customers (or "hostages" as I like to call them) can't possibly get their water anywhere else (although with their rates, it would be much much cheaper to bathe in champagne and wash your dishes with a 1942 Cabernet Sauvignon.
As soon as my lease is over, I'm out of this ****hole town. I've lived in New York and all over PA, and my water bills there were never as high as they are here (and I never had to pay a fee just to get a copy of my own bill!). If you're apartment hunting and looking for a place to live, steer clear of Manheim. And as far as MAWSA goes, these creeps should be in jail for extortion--- not in control of a town's entire water supply!
