Too busy & hard to find somewhere to sit and enjoy a drink and in the public bar there was a lady serving drinks in just her bra which made it quite awkward and uncomfortable to sit in that bar as it was FULL of men. Won't be returning in a hurry.

Fresh food, huge servings and massive place with plenty of room. Only been here a handful of times but would happily recommend to anyone.

Food and atmosphere is great, excellent place for meals with or without family, late night patrons can be a little unwelcoming unless you are 'local', staff were great, polite and friendly.

Dined 3 times, and 3 times it took way too long.
Even one time it was 1hr 20minutes late and didn't get an apology or anything!
Food was nice but not worth the wait that is for sure

Great family pub with elegant atmosphere, well-priced food and an excellent craft beer bar.

My friend and I had the lunch specials. Schnitzel burger appeared to be microwaved. The lettuce in the caeser wrap hadn t been washed and the sauce was not good. Even at $13 they were too expensive.

I had the seafood basket which I paid $29 for it was just batter no fish no prawns no taste DISGUSTING I want my money back
This was the worse meal I've ever eaten out in my life and I'm 75 years old

Havent been to the Matara for a while, decided to try it out again, food was warm at best, battered fish was just about inedible. Steak was over cooked. We left more on the plate than we ate. Won't be back in a hurry. Disappointed used to be a great feed up there.

Had a wonderful lunch there today. The food and service was great. Only thing to nitpick was the plate could have been bigger... the food was falling over the edges when we were cutting our food.

Looks nice inside unfortunately you do occassionally get a smell of cigarette smoke from the pokie room

Nice place, good food. Too loud for my taste when they continually announced things over the speakers.

Went there for dinner got the steak never again. Tough tiny and left starving. No veges horrible and Staff always busy . Dont bother

Food was nice and came out resonably quick. Very busy place but big enough and nice setting. Would come here more often if it was closer to home.

We recently had a function here. Mimi was wonderful! We had numerous comments on how great the room looked. The lolly buffet was a massive hit. Thanks for making our function a success!

Menu is the same as all their other pubs except poor quality..

I attended a function here. The food was delicious and plentiful, the staff were friendly and helpful and the drinks were reasonably priced. The function room was lovely and full of light.

Would of rated this 2.5 if I could have....
I'm not sure what's up with that "craft beer bar" but doesn't help when it doesn't operate.
I've never been overly impressed here but came here for dinner with a mate before a movie.. Beer choices are average and the food isn't very impressive. Me and my mate didn't even finish our meals as they just disappointed.
The fit out is probably the best part about it unfortunately.

By accident I was at the Mattara Hotel for lunch, waiting for an appointment in the area and was hungry, plus only place I could find to park. Ordered the Salt and Pepper Calamari how generous and delicious, you know, when you get a good serve of Calamari, its tender and the outside coating is hot and crunchy for around $15 dollars, plus I ordered a glass of soda water with lime that came free.... its was by chance but I will be going back with a friend very soon.

Took over 1 hour to get our food and the food was over cooked and dry the burger was burnt the Caeser salad was drowned in dressing the chicken was dry

Great comfy booth style seating in restaurant. Good food. Nice staff.

I was a quite disappointed that the loaded fries I chose with the options of cheese and bacon came out with with that yellowish sauce that looks like it comes from a can and no actual cheese. If it had said cheese like sauce I would have ordered something else! The arancini entree was ok and the staff all seemed nice and friendly.

Attended a 30th birthday party at upstairs function room (one that is open one side to downstairs area) Great space, well setup. Private bar.
More private smaller function rooms also available.

Used to be a regular here for the craft beer selection and decent pub grub. Came in this evening to find only Carlton united and lion Nathan brews on tap. Extremely disappointed as used to have an awesome choice of craft beer. Also had a massive wait for food without any communication from staff. Don't know what management is doing here but will be surprised if the mattara still exists in a year.

Good staff, pleasant atmosphere, the meals we had 2 were very ordinary, 1 was o.k., and one was good. Won t be back.

A good place for a meal. Kids playground is good too. Only downside is the restaurant is full of smoke as it flows through from the bar area. A bit of a turn off.

5th time I ve been here now with work mates. 4 out of 5 times the food was a let down. Yesterday was one of those days. Ordered my food first. Girl at the counter told me the pumpkin arancini came with a side salad. Received my food last, buzzer didn t go off and I had to walk up to find my arancini sitting there... with no salad. I asked the chef, he was rude and arrogant. Sat down to eat, me and two work colleagues didn t enjoy the arancini at all, no flavour, no pumpkin.

On the upside, one of my other mates got the Caesar salad which looked great! This is one of the dishes that was a massive let down in the past. Good to see improvements. Bar staff were polite but not enough rostered on. Overall ok pub, nice looking, some polite staff but food isn t yummy or exciting, just very average tasting which was the consensus of our table of 10. A chef who still has a passion for food and enthusiasm could make all the difference at this place.

Great pub, main meal specials most nights and trivia etc.

Bar is closed at 11 and bar staff ignore you to stop serving pints on Friday at 5:55

Absolutely shithouse, had a function and my best mate got kicked out cause "he was drunk" legitimately had 3 drinks. "By them" good way to ruin a function!

Great food, an indoor area for kids to play, worth checking for specials as it can be a little $$ overall very good

The restaurant is great. Good food and quick service. Friendly staff and plenty of room to cater for everyone.
Theres a tropical fish tank and a playground for the kids.
I can't speak much for the bar area as i haven't really drank in the hotel.

Attractive open design concept. Met with largish group and took some time for our meals. Issue was unrelaxing music which being too noisy makes everybody talk louder and louder, so got a bit too loud for me. Its a problem at many similar venues. Only catered for the young crowd who like the pumping techno.

we arrived to an empty restaurant and were kicked out of an empty booth by a rude staff member and told that the booth was reversed by a sign she brought from behind the counter, very poor and disappointing service.

Nice venue. Freindly staff. Great restaurant with kids mini arcade and play set inside. Beautiful function rooms.

Mattara is in a great location with lots of houses around, it needs to reinvent itself to attract customers. Nice venue and food just nothing doing
