Great building and stop to take if ever visiting. Also has a firemen memorial.

This is the first stop on the Freedom Trail. The building still serves today. Free entry. The frescoes on the walls and on the roofs are beautiful. There is no lack of documentation to read and table to contemplate on the spot. My girlfriend and I were pleasantly surprised.

Stopped here while walking the Freedom Trail. Weren't sure if we wanted to go in, but we were very glad we did. Turned out to be the highlight of our day. Our tour guide, an older gentleman (wish I could remember his name!) was EXCELLENT! He did a super job of explaining MA history and the history of the state house. We also talked with the governor's secretary and one of the state representatives, they were super friendly. Learned very interesting facts about the American revolution in Boston.

We like to tour state capitols and particularly enjoy our tour in Boston. Note for a tour of the State House, you need to call in advance and make a reservation. We had a high school student who was wonderful pointing out when the front doors are used instead of the usual side door entry. The story of the Sacred Cod and Holy Mackerel. We learned stories behind works of art and statues. A very pleasant and interesting tour. Kudos to Max our excellent guide -- one of the best we've had in capitol tours.

I would highly recommend having a quick look round the State House. Hour long tours are run for free and provide a wealth of information about the rich history of the building and the state of Massachusetts.

A worth while place to visit in Boston. The rooms and halls are majestic. A throughly enjoyable place

This was a wonderful visit! It's unfortunate that you can only go on weekdays since most people work during the week but I managed to score a day off to visit. Beautiful old building with plenty of History. They offer tours and it was completely worth it. You just need to make sure you go on a weekday! Be sure to check out the Women's Hall of Fame hallway

Beautiful! We were disappointed that we could not take the tour though, they don't open until 10am

Beautiful state house. This was the second stop on the freedom trail. Unfortunately, it was closed the day we went(Christmas Day), but we were still able to walk around it and see historical statues like the one pictured of Mary Dyer. We plan of going back to do the tour.

The Massachusetts State House was built between 1795 and 1798 and is the seat of the Commonwealth Government of Massachusetts.

Walked by this multiple times and it looks very beautiful from the outside. They offer tours inside during the day. Very busy street but a fun place to visit at least once when in Boston.

Beautiful building, but no visit possible despite our passage on 2 consecutive days

I have yet to take a tour, but the building itself is magnificent and attracts tourists for its wondering photo opportunities and chance to learn about history. Try to find the JFK statue!

Beautiful building, although I was really looking for a steak house.

It was a really cool experience to see the architecture and be able to learn some history as well.

Rest area, can see flags of every town in Massachusetts. Also near Park Street.

The free tour is very interesting and the inside of the building is absolutely beautiful. The Senate chamber is closed for renovation, but we got to see the House chamber, where the Governor's office is and more.

from here it goes north to the golden dome of the State House, designed by Charles Bulfinch, the most famous architect of colonial Boston. The State House is a historic building and is crowned by the golden dome, it has been the seat of the Massachusetts government since 1798. Recalls the Capitol but in small, very beautiful. You can visit for free.

The security process at the main entrance is of concern. Not sure if the staff went to the same training programme as the TSA but when we put personal items through the scanner and they did not appear we asked where they had gone. No reply from any one. Completely deaf! No acknowledgement of anything we were saying. We did our own search!

How does that happen?

This a working functional state house and not really worth a visit unless a tour is available which it wasn't.

One of the best capitols in the United States. This is the one in the state of Massachusetts, characteristic for its golden dome. It is located on the Boston Common, in the heart of Boston. The visit is highly recommended.

Beautiful building, staff was friendly and helpful. E enjoyed seeing the Hall of Flags.

Very nice place for sightseeing with a lot of historical background. Admission is free and you can visit a large part of this important building. Definitely worth a visit, especially as it is conveniently located, too.

Definitely make this a stop for sightseeing. They have guided tours but it might be more fun to just wander around yourself. They are incredible sculptures in the Nurse's Hall, breathtaking stain glass windows by the main staircase, and a dizzying array of flags in the Great Hall (400+ I think). Don't forget to ask how to see the Sacred Cod and the Holy Mackerel...I'm not kidding.

Surprising, it has a lot of history and impressive details.

My favorite State House in the United States of America!!!

I can not pronounce the name of this US state correctly or write accident-free. But the Massachusetts Parliament building is really beautiful and golden domes in the US are rare. Opposite the building is Boston Common Park.

A famous wooden fish, the Sacred Rain of Massachusetts, is hanging in the Hall of the House, indicating that the importance of catching fisheries here since 1784 cannot be ignored. Had such a great time here, with a great tour guide. I was random that I came upon this building, but there is so much history in it. I would recommend that a person take a quick peak inside. I'm sure you'll find (and learn) something cool.

One of the most beautiful places to look at in Boston!

this massachusetts state capitol building is available for tours at no cost to the public. arrive 15 minutes early as the tours do fill up. there is also an archives library, where one can get a library pass and you can research massachusetts early statehood history here. this is up the stairs from Park Street Station on the Green & Red Trolley lines. A must see when visiting boston

Mirelurks everywhere, dirt and grime. Place is a dump. Don't go upstairs if you want raiders. DONT GO TO THE BOTTOM BECAUSE A MIRELURK QUEEN IS THERE!

Nice historic building, but was closed when we were there. Only open from Monday to Friday.

Beautiful, grand building. Security at the entrance, the staff were helpful. Went here to to check out the State Library at the 3rd floor. Walked past portraits of past governors.

I've been here today. This is a really nice place to visit. From the outside the building is very impressible but the inside is marvelous with a really nice arquitecture. It has a collection of historic sculptures and a free guided tour that lasts 30min but gives you a lot of details of the history and importance of the place. You even get to enter the present senate chamber that has a plaque of a speech JFK pronunce there. If you have the oportunity go, and take the tour.
