Dealing with Maryland DHCD was a terrible experience and more than likely as a tenant or average Maryland citizen you'll have a similar nightmarish experience and realize now much the "little guy" happily stepped on in this state.

I am 62 and Disabled since 2013, when I was 57. Since 2013, I have spoken to all these staff people and denied "Maryland Affordable Housing" by pure "laziness, racism and hatred" of people like me, plus eagerly failing to refer or assist in finding affordable housing in all the counties, 8 year waiting lists with no hope in the State of Maryland, while Governor Hogan does nothing. These staff people and the director work together at DHCD, to cause frustration and red tape hoping you die before you get Section 8, Section 811 or any HUD Federal Program, while HUD does nothing also. I am forced to pay over 90% of my social security (low-income) check Market rate rent. I am denied everything, and none of these staff people even care. What a waste of State taxes, and nobody does nothing. My advice, hide your disability and continue to work after paying taxes in Maryland since 1979, I can't get a complimentary cup of tea.

Governor Hogan, I kindly request that you immediately look into the Maryland State CDA Loan and mortgage programs. Allowing them to continue charging the exorbitant interest rates to those people who deserve so very much better is disheartening. Is that one of the ways Maryland is improving financially? On the backs of first-time homeowners? Anyone out there considering a Maryland Mortgage Program or CDA loan PLEASE consider other alternatives. I posted this exact review to the facebook page and they have since removed anyone from seeing any reviews. What is Maryland hiding? Please help our citizens!

I had some major concerns regarding the turnaround time regarding our file with MMP. An email was sent to Ms. Weller at MMP and she addressed my concerns and answered all of my questions.

Sometimes the process isn't well known to regular people because we are not necessarily privy to that information. However, Ms. Weller calmed my fears down and let me know they are working hard for everyone.

Ms. Weller, I hope this review finds you. I appreciate all the hard work your office is doing not just for me but for all those in Maryland that you serve.

About Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development

Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development: Empowering Communities for a Better Future

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (MDHCD) is an official website of the State of Maryland that aims to empower communities by providing affordable housing, community development, and economic opportunities. The department has been serving the state since 1966, and it has become a trusted partner in building vibrant communities across Maryland.

MDHCD's mission is to strengthen neighborhoods, expand homeownership opportunities, create jobs, and improve the quality of life for all Marylanders. The department achieves this by working with local governments, non-profit organizations, developers, lenders, and other stakeholders to provide funding assistance programs that support affordable housing development projects.

One of MDHCD's primary goals is to increase access to safe and affordable housing for low- to moderate-income families. To achieve this goal, the department offers various programs such as rental assistance programs like Rental Allowance Program (RAP), Homelessness Solutions Program (HSP), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), etc., which help eligible households pay their rent or mortgage payments.

In addition to rental assistance programs MDHCD also provides homeownership opportunities through its various initiatives like Mortgage Credit Certificate Program (MCCP), Down Payment Assistance Loan Program(DPAL) , etc., which help eligible homebuyers purchase their first homes or upgrade their existing homes.

Apart from providing affordable housing solutions MDHCD also focuses on community development initiatives that aim at revitalizing neighborhoods across Maryland. These initiatives include Neighborhood BusinessWorks program(NBW) which provides financing for small businesses in designated areas; Community Legacy program(CL) which supports historic preservation efforts; Strategic Demolition Fund(SDF) which helps remove blighted properties from communities; etc.

MDHCD also plays a vital role in promoting economic growth throughout the state by supporting job creation efforts through its various workforce development initiatives like Employment Advancement Right Now(EARN) program , Workforce Investment Act(WIA),etc.,which provide training opportunities for job seekers so they can acquire new skills needed in today’s economy.

The department's commitment towards empowering communities has earned it several accolades over the years. In 2020 alone MDHCD was awarded $7 million grant under HUD’s Lead Hazard Reduction Demonstration grant program aimed at reducing lead hazards in low-income homes across Baltimore City; $1 million grant under HUD’s Choice Neighborhoods Planning Grant program aimed at developing comprehensive neighborhood revitalization plans ;etc..

In conclusion,Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development(MDHCD)is an essential resource for anyone looking for affordable housing solutions or seeking ways to revitalize their community.MDHDCD's commitment towards empowering communities has made it one of the most trusted partners among local governments, npo's,lenders, and other stakeholders.Their innovative approach towards addressing complex issues related to housing, economic growth, and workforce development makes them stand out among others. If you are looking forward towards making your dream home come true or want your community revitalized then look no further than MDHCDC!
