Marriott Detroit Southfield Review

Always my first choice for a local stay! Excellence across the board.

Staff was great. rooms were adequate. Mildew in shower, inadequate bathroom ventilation, fixtures are dated. Free internet is limited, but I could do everything I needed to. TV selection was limited, even the "premium" selections. Micro fridge... No microwave.

Mistakenly cancelled by our booking made in February even tho confirmed directly with location in June.Room clean. Older room 500s but renovating 1st/6th in 2017. Breakfast decent. Low staffing. Ray & crew did their best to accommodate full house. Kudos to them.

My experience here was great. We hosted our family reunion at this hotel and the staff was phenomenal. What a team! There were several family reunions going on at the hotel and the staff treated us very professional meeting all our needs. Barbara at the front desk was always pleasant greating us with a very pleasant smile and a can do attitude. The dining staff Dan, Abu, and Tyre, overwhelmed with hungry people met our individual needs even when the place was packed. What a great staff!

Great hotel and staff. Clean and modern rooms! I love the tile instead of carpet in my room. My only gripe was the bathroom sliding door was broken. No way to close the door means no privacy. Luckily I wasn't sharing the room. The shower doors wouldn't stay shut. Taking a shower resulted in a lot of water on the floor.

Only ate lunch at the bar. The bartender was very unattentive and seemed bothered by us being there. The food was pretty good. Had the Reuben...very lean and tasty.

Very clean and polite workers. Would love to return again one day.

I have stayed at the Southfield property once. It is a very nice property, and I plan to visit the property again next month.

Newly renovated. Staff is mostly friendly and helpful. Restaurant is good and has reasonable variety. Pool and gym area are okay. Knock against for club which is just okay with just okay food/breakfast.

Rooms were clean and the resturant food was surprisingly good.

No microwave in the rooms one for the whole hotel never new I see a Marriott holding such a representation like that water in the pool was cold I re recommend a blind man there

I stayed at this hotel again and unfortunately, the room required more cleaning. There was debris in the bed and dust on the wood covering over the bed. This hotel has so much potential and I hope better service and room maintenance returns.

I booked DMS through a Living Social deal, and it did not disappoint. Everyone in the lobby was super-friendly. The only recommendation I would make is that the Fire Iron Grill would deliver service that's at least on par with the quality of the food. That being said, the food was excellent.. our waiter, not so much!

Seeing a law firm and Doctors. They booked some rooms. The dinner area and most of the hotel is closed due to the circumstances of the time.

I will never stay at this hotel again the front desk staff is rude and disrespectful especially the lady Dora

My previous review is below as I have updated. My work uses this hotel and 8 months ago this place was terrible. Since then, updates have happened, it's cleaner and inviting. Much more of what you would expect from a Marriott. They are still the most expensive I've been to when it comes to the food.

-Worst Marriott I have ever stayed at. None of the vending machines are stocked on floor. Rooms were not up kept. The whole hotel is old and dated and has a weird smell. Breakfast was awful.

Where can I start the service was great no complains in there, but the room were filthy, sheets had a lot of stains, hair all over the floor, trash cans filled, drawers filled with things from past guests

Had a great stay at the hotel. M Lounge provided everything we needed for our business trip and I look forward to booking here again in the near future.

Beautiful hotel! Love the rooms, and the staff is great. This hotel has a very elegant feel to it, and I will definitely be back!

Overall nice looking place but the management fine tuning is missing. As an example front desk told me breakfast was still available thus I rushed in with 15 min before 10am to just be told it is not available until 10 but this morning 9:45am which is when I was there.
That being said I really liked the hotel calling the night before to confirm my arrival time and at that time the front desk was extremely nice.

I was in town to stay at this hotel because I was in town for business. I moved my stay from this hotel from another due to the other one being trash. When I arrived at this hotel a gentleman at the counter greeted me asking me for my name. He stated I was at the other hotel next door. First I was like great I am getting sent to a crappier hotel than this one, when I walked in I gave the lady at the counter my name and she said I was at the other hotel across the street, I told her I was just told the same thing. So I went back to the other hotel and was booked in and apologized to and given a free drink at the bar. At night I was attempting to hook up my ps4 to the internet and didnt have any luck, the hotel sent what they called an "engineer to my room" Wesley came in and called some sort of tech support. Wesley was very determined to get this issue resolved for me and wouldnt leave till it was complete. Wesley was so nice and courteous. Overall good stay and would recommend over the other hotels in the area.

Great stay, newly remodeled room is swank! Great accommodation's always will stay here when I am in town.

I stayed here a few times while traveling for work. The restaurant has tasty reasonably priced foods. The rooms are comfortable. Not luxury but not your basic hotel either. I'd stay here again if I were in town.

Comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. Nice heated pool.
