Good food and sometimes a nice little indoor flea market on Sundays
Super urban ambience. Good for lunch at lunch, cozy in the evening for something to drink. Unfortunately, there is a lack of ventilation, which makes it a regular occurrence that the clothes smell of food .. very tedious if you have lunch at appointments.
Global food stands in a covered dome building, with everything except Swiss cuisine, apparently. I really liked the Himalayan burger which was one of the cheaper options for 14 francs. Cash only at some establishments, though.
Great place for a light lunch or dinner and drinks. Lots of different things to choose from, from lots of lovely vendors. A must of in Basel
Very great place if you don't know exactly what you want to eat. Extremely large selection from all continents. Had a super delicious salad with avocado and chicken from (i think) argentinian. Also the spring rolls from Vietnamese, also super delicious. Something for every taste. A large selection of drinks and alcoholic beverages such as beer (e.g. in the beer district). Always a pleasure.
Lots of small stands ... a large selection of worldwide food
Big hall with many food stands from many different countrys.
I ate aubergine filled with minced meat it was wonderful for 16chf I really enjoy going to the marksthalle
This place is always worth a visit. Lots of good kitchens. Nice service. Enjoy your meal. Ecological products.
A different place with a family atmosphere where you can enjoy meals from many different countries, for us it has been an experience, we would return without hesitation
Awesome variety of food and drinks. Good place to hang out.
If you want to eat comfortably, don't go to the market hall - very loud, too restless, self-service. But if you want to eat something with colleagues / friends, want it to be quick and easy and can't or don't want to agree on a meal style, you've come to the right place. It is fast food / street food / soul food from all over the world - classic and modern, vegan and meat, organic and conventional. One should not expect too much, the dishes are - depending on the dishes - pre-cooked - after all, they are stands, not real kitchens:
Of course, the market hall is in a Swiss city: the prices are high compared to other countries, but the size of the whole cannot be compared with comparable locations in larger world cities!
Depending on the time of day - especially at lunchtime - it can be very crowded - but then all stands are open or there is little going on and then not so many stands are open.
Architectural: The concrete dome was built in 1929, was one of the largest reinforced concrete domes at the time and is now a listed building (the latter also means that major modifications, e.g. noise level damping, are hardly possible)
There is a lot to discover here culinary. The menus are around the 20 francs in the frame. The atmosphere is rather southern.
Plenty of choice and acceptable prices for Basel conditions!
Great food court with food from all over the world!
Great food at normal swiss prices. The drinks are a little more expensive. There is also a huge selection of alcoholic drinks. If you do not come to eat there are also very cozy sitting areas where you can drink a good coffee or a cold coke.
Huge selection. a bit loud but diversity of dishes let you forget everything and just enjoy
Delicious food from all over the world and various events in the traditional old Markthalle Basel. Definitely worth a visit. Disadvantage: It can be damn loud if everyone likes to hear them speak!
The variety of food there is amazing! All types of drinks too! Today there was a Flea Market going on.
Interesting place to eat foreign cuisines but very expensive for what you eat, too bad. Nice place
Good selection, a little expensive. But still one of the best food options in town.
Great place to eat in Basel, wide choice of authentic ethnic cuisine from all over the world at affordable prices and in a structure that deserves to be seen. It is a stone's throw from the main station and is suitable for any public.
Lovely place to meet & greet people. Of course variety of the foods from different countries. Superior quality food. I will recommend that everyone visit the place at least once. Also they have live music concerts on selected days.
Over lunch or Saturday evenings there are great street food stalls and some great bars in a cozy atmosphere.
I always like to come back.
Variegated mix of food stalls. From Venezuelan arepas to sushi. Water buffalo burgers in South African cuisine. Very curious to visit
It has very many and fine specialties (at least when I was there) that are really worth testing or tasting. You can definitely go for a good meal, for example, go to dinner.
It has food from different cultures (for example, Italy, so pizza).
Maybe there are sometimes other events than these many food stalls, but I do not know anything about that ...
The food is fine and good, although it is very difficult to generalize this because it has some stalls and I have not tested everything.
The only criticism that is relevant for me is the high price ...
Nice ambience, great selection of catering options and centrally located.
Sometime ventilation system is not good that you get smell of the food on clothes but good food and drinks variety. Also there is a corner for kids.
Nice cozy place with various cultural food stalls! Personal favorite: ice cream parlor "EISURU"
Fantastic place to check out cuisines from across the world. Italian, Lebanese, Indian, Caribbean, Mediterranean and so many more. Definitely worth a visit.
A smorgasbord of food and drink from around the world
A wonderful place. Numerous small business owners cook there. There is something for everyone. Especially when you are in a group and cannot be suitable. The young management team has succeeded in building life into a historic Basel building. A great asset for Basel.
The paradise of food of all kinds. From Fastfood to Burritos and Thai. The prices are affordable. During lunch you are very busy!
Many varied dishes from all over the world. Reasonable price for quality. To try !
Super nice hall with exceptional shops. Special shops with kitchens from all over the world. An experience!!!! Special mention should be made of the MYLK cheese specialty shop by Serdar Hess, which produces its products directly in the cheese dairy IN in the market hall. Cheese, special yogurt and curd creams, use.
Nice cozy place with various cultural food stalls! Personal favorite: ice cream parlor "EISURU"
Good food and nice location. Unfortunately, poor ventilation caused a strong smell of food.
Lots of great choice for delicious food and on Sunday evenings watch out for the markets!
Found this difficult to fall. Only eateries. Not cozy and not cheap either. Better and cozier eateries in the center.
It s a place full of different little restaurants and shops. The food is very good, I will definitely go back to try other things.
Great choice of dishes from different countries. Kind staff. Self-hearted.
The stay was very pleasant, the pizza we got at one of the stalls, was delicious. For children there is a large play area, which of course is great for families ...
If you want to eat differently here you will always find something mediocre, but I would not recommend Argentine, the food is not completely fresh and the lazy salad is outrageous for the price. Too many fly improperly over the sandwiches. Carefully.
I always like to eat in the market hall. There is something for every taste and everything is very well organized. The only thing you could complain about is that the ventilation is not very good due to the size and you always smell a little afterwards after eating. Since I am often there in my free time, it does not bother me, but if I want to go there for a business lunch I would make sure that I don't have an important meeting afterwards. Thanks for this great wellness oasis!
Everything was almost closed. Not pretty. Expensive.
Great place to enjoy food from different countries or drink some you like.
Ingenious food options. Especially a lot of international dishes.
Good prices for the city. Everything very uncomplicated
A friendly environment, with a wide choice of cuisine, and all for a fair price for the region.
There is always something good to eat. You have recipes from around the world It's a very lively place. You do not come to be calm
Inexpensive delicious food from all over the world - a dream!
Most stalls Closed on Monday, when I went there 5pm.
The perfect place in Basel for world cuisine ... something for all tastes and more.
Good variety of food to choose from, reasonable prices and plenty of seats.
A diverse selection of food stalls from all over the world. Food is generally good, but nothing overwhelming. Some of the stalls are a little overpriced for what they offer.
The biggest problem with this place is the inadequate ventilation system, which leaves your clothes impregnated with kitchen and BBQ smells. That's why I completely avoid Markthalle in winter.
Very great place to eat. It has a vast variety of dishes and drinks. Although its a huge hall, its not that noisy as i thought.
Food festival athmosphere. Go to the food stand you prefer and drink and eat in the middle of the hall: from peruvian ceviche to colombian arepas and vietnamese bun bo xao there is everything.
Something different from the usual, a varied choice of foods from all over the world, the brewery with an infinite number of types of beers ...
Very large selection - from almost every culture something!
Food court that deserves its name. Great offer and many small stalls. Priced at the upper limit.
