If you are an IT consultant, don't ever work for Martiz Travel. They dropped my contract with zero notice, in spite of excellent feedback from all colleagues. It was the most back handed move I've ever experienced.
I hate to give a negative review based on the actions of a single individual, because so many people there are just great. Nevertheless, I feel that it's my duty to my consulting brothers and sisters to make them aware, lest they fall victim to the same abysmal business practices of the IT organization.
As consultants, we rely on a bit of information from our clients in order to plan our futures. All that I've worked with for several years have been very good and commonly decent. Maritz, however, represents the worst experience of my consulting career. I was led to believe that a few to several weeks remained on the contract, then suddenly I was told that the contract had been inexplicably cancelled, but thank you so much for your wonderful service. I certainly hope that no other contractors experience this difficult situation.
Don't mourn for me. I'm well enough off. I only hope to spare some otherwise unwitting consultant the same.
Just screwed up my travel vacation in March, and Maritz wont fix the problem. They wont even return phone calls/emails now. They were put in charge of managing hotel and air fare reservations for a group of us that were awarded a free trip to Jamaica. I live in DFW and there's a direct flight to/from Jamaica each day for around $500. Their budget for the airfare portion of the trip for each person is approximately $700, but Maritz found a cheaper flight than $500 that connected through Charlotte NC and booked me onto the cheap flight. This cheaper flight takes 9hrs of flight time with connection time rather than the direct flight of 3.5hrs. Even though the direct flight was under their budget of $700, they choose to screw the award winning people by making them spend 5.5 more hrs in a plane to fly down to their vacation. I suspect they get a cutback on costs saved over "taking care of people" the best possible way they can. They don't care or have concern for the people they are booking reservations for. Advise you to use someone else for your vacations..
Worst place to work, they are so unprofessional and horrible at keeping things confidential. Also the place is based off of favoritism rather than hard work and seniority. Worst place to work and very underpaid for the amount of stress that you encounter while on the job.
