Marist High School: A Legacy of Excellence
Marist High School, located in Bayonne, New Jersey, was a Catholic high school that provided quality education to students for over 60 years. Unfortunately, the school has permanently closed its doors as of June 30th, 2020. Despite this unfortunate news, Marist High School remains an important part of the community and its legacy will continue to live on.
History
Marist High School was founded in 1954 by the Marist Brothers of the Schools. The Marist Brothers are a Catholic religious order dedicated to providing education to young people around the world. The school's mission was to provide a quality Catholic education that would prepare students for college and beyond.
Over the years, Marist High School became known for its academic excellence and strong sense of community. The school offered a rigorous curriculum that included honors and Advanced Placement courses in various subjects such as English, math, science, social studies and foreign languages.
In addition to academics, Marist also had an extensive extracurricular program that included sports teams (football, basketball), clubs (drama club), music programs (band) and service organizations (National Honor Society). These activities allowed students to develop their talents outside of the classroom while also giving back to their community.
Closing
Despite its long history of success and dedication to education excellence; unfortunately due financial difficulties caused by declining enrollment numbers; it was announced on May 18th ,2020 that Marist would be closing at end June 30th ,2020 . This news came as a shock not only for current students but also alumni who have fond memories from their time at Marist.
Legacy
Although it is sad news about closure but we can't forget about all those wonderful memories created during those sixty years when it served our communities with great pride .The legacy left behind by Marist will continue through its alumni who have gone on achieve great things in various fields such as medicine ,law ,business etc .
Conclusion
In conclusion although we are saddened by this news about closure but we should remember all those wonderful memories created during those sixty years when it served our communities with great pride . We should be proud knowing that we were part something special which helped shape us into who we are today .
