Visitation rules have changed a lot in the past few months, and the the website or staff doesn't let you know. At my past 2 scheduled visits something has went wrong. First time 1 of my daughters couldn't see my husband because now only 1 adult and 1 child can visit an inmate 1 time per week. The second visit I arrived 15 minutes early for my scheduled visit and you have to be here 30 minutes before your visit so it was automatically terminated. I understand the staff is very busy, but you would think they would inform you of new changes to the policy. I'm not saying it is all staff btw. The policy needs to be updated online. Most people go there to look at rules and policy. It used to be 1 adult and 2 children and as long as you were here 5 minutes before the scheduled time you were good. I'm pretty sure the website still has all the old policy. Unless they have updated it today. It's hard enough especially on children whos parent is incarcerated (I know his actions put him there) but when Jail 2 makes it more difficult to visit it doesn't help. Jail 1 has video visits you can have from home. Why can't Jail 2 do the same?

This jail is not a safe place for an inmate. Their medical needs are ignored. Additionally, it doesn t make it easy to schedule attorney visits either.

This is a war zone no security at all very dangerous place

The visitation system is a joke. I know that they consider the Midwest to be slow on many things, but this is insane. Where I am from, the inmates are the ones to arrange their visitors, not just one person wife the entire population which is over 1,000. They should seriously consider changing the way visitation is done. I will say, the one lady who does do the visitation was pretty nice to me. I won't really speak on the rest of them.

Food was a bit bland and bed was not real comfortable. Expected more from a 5 star hotel - but the rate was to good to pass up.

I tried to call about My Boyfriend and I got an attitude I'm just checking to make sure he's ok he has mental health issues.

This place is insane. The information for inmates is never correct. If you do get to talk to the rude employees they don t give out correct information. I don t how they keep this place alive or the prisoners- oh they have issues with that too!

They need real Correctional Officer's in there it's like Guerrilla Warfare in that place Food is Old and Groce if you're Muslim you get treated like a 3 class citizen

All jails that are ran by businesses are horrible. It's all about the money they can make by storing Innoce3 until proving guilty Slaves.

If zero stars was an option I would choose less. They were so over populated the closest jail they could send my brother to was 4 hours away and then lost his information while he was down there and didn't tell anything to the court or other jail. I had to call both jails and the court house to let everyone know where he was and why he wasn't at it court appointment or they would have given him another warrant for their miskate and when I tried to call and talk to anyone the line wasn't busy they unplugged it bc for the next hour it said the number has been disconnected, lazy workers who don't want to do their job need better people, nobody deserves to sit in jail for 2 extra months because the people who are supposed to do their job don't .

Dont let you out when your supposed. To be released

I never thought this was a website I d visit to write a review.. to thank you for saving my child s life .. he lives life as a transgender woman and by you not allowing that lifestyle in your facility not that you discriminate you are just a all male facility. My child is able to safely serve his time for not following rules. Without being in any situations that could cause several other issues within our community. God bless each and every staff member in this facility and each and every inmate to learn from their mistakes and never get comfortable with having to be locked up and Lord bless all of us mothers and fathers and family having to go through this. This too is a test this to shall pass.

Low to no security staff members bring in drugs for the inmates to sell medical needs are not met and it is a dangerous out of control facility

I did not even want to give it one star. Here's the issue, I was told how disgusting this place is and how the correctional officer assaults prisoners. A family member saw a correctional officer punch a young man in the face and the young man was mentally challenged. The mayor needs to go look at how inmates are treated.

Secondly, if you bond a family member out it can take hours even days before the person is release. I'm from Chicago and cook county jail is overcrowded but Cook County has prisoners out within 2-3 hours and the county is over crowded. So this makes me think marion is simply not doing their job. It's a damn shame that you don't have people doing their job.

We have to remember everyone in that jail is innocent until proven guilty.

If the mayor or someone in staff reads this please go over to this hole in the wall and train staff the correct was as well as find out why it takes so long for someone to be released.

The phone system there STINKS! We pay good money to talk with our family members and the phone calls are broken you can't understand half of the conversation!!!

I would rate this place a zero if I could. My boyfriend was locked up there and transferred to another county, his wallet and cellphone never left with him... How do you mess up inmate property? I believe every officer who messes up like this needs to be fired. Do your jobs, you are taking care of human people, not animals.

Put money on the phone through the kiosk outside of the jail and got a receipt showing that I put money on the phone, but calls never came in and they are saying I have a 0 balance after I put $35, had a receipt saying the money was applied but it actually wasnt?? So lost $35 for literally nothing and the jail isn't doing anything to help. Smh. Be careful putting your money in they may just take ot.

I mean jail is jail, doesn t suppose to be a luxury vacation, but a couple of my loved ones have been here before and have told me it s better than jail 1, but it was still overall a nasty and terrible experience

I stayed here. Now obviously I'm not going to have a positive rating for a place that entrapped me for 2 weeks. But this place wasn't HORRIBLE. Don't get me wrong... It is dirty, the ceilings do leak, the guards are corrupted, the food is terrible, fights AND assaults do happen, it is depressing, and it has traumatized me... what do you expect? It's jail!! But it also has made me TERRIFIED to break the law again. Which believe it or not, is a good thing. This is a bad bad place. But its necessary. People need to be punished for the crimes they've committed. So they make a place like this for those people.
