I eat here at least once a month and they just started on nachos meal which is phenomenal.

Food and service were both good. Best shrimp I've had and hubby said his steak was excellent!

This is a very nice quaint restaurant in historic Clayton, NC. Would absolutely go back if I was back in the area. Great food, great service, very prompt and attentive!

Night and day better than any steakhouse I've eaten around here.

Just moved to the area from NY and this is by far the greatest restaurant we have been to yet! Will definitely be going here a lot!

My favorite restaurant ever! The food at Manning s is amazing!! I ve loved everything I ve tried from the menu and the staff and service have always been top notch. I can t say enough about this place!

No masks at all. Host, bartender, and waiters all not wearing masks and no social distancing between seated tables. Only people wearing masks were the guests as they arrived into the restaurant.
*Update* Spoke with Ashley in Environmental Services for Joco Health Dept. and was told they ve made contacts w/ management and Manning s has refused to follow COVID-19 precautions of wearing Masks.

You will NEVER be disappointed!! My husband and I are Clayton natives, and to say we are a fan of Manning's is an understatement. Everyone is incredibly friendly and welcoming.

We went today for a Father's Day lunch, and I ordered the Grouper for the first time. I had asparagus with it, and with those two things together, while they were AMAZING alone, I asked if they had any garlic butter or sauce to pour on top. Not only was that request immediately taken to the kitchen, but the owner himself (Howard) came out with fresh garlic butter still in the pan to pour over my dish.

Amazing food. Amazing people. Amazing service.

I cannot rave enough about this local restaurant. I'll actually be back tomorrow to take my dad out for Father's Day! It's THAT awesome.

We did not have a great experience here. It started with our hostess, when we told her we would like to sit on the rooftop she clearly didn't want to bother going up the steps to seat us, and they weren't even busy that night. Rooftop dining is a unexpected option in this area so its nice to have it. This was our date night and we ordered steak. The food came my cook was better than my husband's, but there was no flavor or taste at all. And we spent most of the night without getting a refill although our waitress did not have a problem talking with other diners, she hardly bothered to come back by our table except to bring the bill, which made matters worse. . The food is very overpriced. Maybe it was just an off night but we haven't been back.

Food was 5 stars. Service was much better than most the service we recieve in California.

I called Mannings 3 times this week to try and make a reservation for Saturday, May 12th. I called Tuesday and a man said to hold and the hostess would assist me. 15 minutes later, I hung up. Wednesday, on hold for 10 minutes. I didn't call Thursday as I got busy, but when I called Friday I was told reservations were no longer being taken and that they hadn't been for several days. WT ? This is not right. I really had wanted to take my mother there. I an assure you, even though I've eaten here before and it was all right, that I won't try this mistake again. The girl who answered on Friday obviously did not care that I had gotten misinformation and since I haven't been to this restaurant in several months, I am sure her attitude is indicative of the rest of the restaurant.

I love the place and the food. The fried oyster appetizer and the Artichoke Spinach Dip is off the rating chart. Want a steak ? get the Filet it will melt in your mouth. Need a drink ? Nate is the bartender and he will take care of you.

Hands down the best BLT I've ever had. Elegant atmosphere with great people all around.

The food was delicious! Came out very fast & very nice presentation with good hearty sized portions. The restaurant is very clean & I love the antique decor. Our friendly & attentive waiter Gilbert was also top notch & always made sure we had everything we need & were enjoying our experience. Also the owner stopped by to make sure we were well taken care of too. My husband & I cannot wait to return again soon.

I'm hard to impress. Best restaurant in Clayton hands down! Top 3 in Raleigh area. I am hooked!

Local fare for a small town. Nice decor ,but the food is a bit overpriced . The burgers are pre made and not hand made. A hardees burger is better. Beer batter onion rings are good. Service was good and friendly . But again,a bit pricey for what you get from the menu.

Last night myself and 3 friends went to Manning s for a much needed girls night out! Our waitress Vicky was AMAZING!! She took her time to make sure everything was perfect for us. And everything WAS perfect!! Thank you Vicky!! We will definitely request you next time we come in!

This was our first visit to Manning's since moving to Clayton last year. It was disappointing. The primary problem is that it's a restaurant in the midst of an identity crisis. It's really just a sports bar that wants to be a mid-range dining experience when it grows up, but it's stuck in an awkward adolescence. The website, front of the building, half of the menu, and the softly lit, tastefully decorated interior room all look promising, then it all falls apart in the harsh glow of TV screens beaming various sportsing events, the awful acoustics amplified by hard floors surrounded by cluttered decor that lacks charm. Attempts at thoughtful conversation require literally yelling over the cafeteria atmosphere and pub culture, even in the interior room.

I ordered the pork tenderloin with apples and caramelized onions. I got a piece of pork that had been flattened thin (tenderloins are cylindrical) and grilled to the point of being tough like a pork chop. Tenderloins are supposed to be...well...tender. They have been every time I've ever ordered them in other restaurants. This unrecognizable piece of meat came with 2 thin slices of apple and a couple of pieces of caramelized onion. So, we went to Manning's, paid more, and got less.

The waitstaff had clearly been trained to provide a mid-range dining experience and they delivered. They need a place of employment worthy of their skills-Manning's isn't it.

Dropped in for lunch on a weekday when we were in the area. The food was EXCELLENT and so was the service. If we are ever in Clayton again Manning's will be on our agenda

Came here for the first time. Downtown Clayton was beautiful and the cheeseburger with bacon was amazing, as was the ambiance. Reminds me of a restaurant you would find in a global city like Richmond or Minneapolis

I had the crab cakes and they are AMAZING!! Hands down the best I ve had (and I used to frequent Baltimore and the eastern shores quite a bit).

I sat at the bar and had the best customer service possible. Tina will make you feel right at home!

Everything about Manning s is absolutely perfect. Such a cool vibe and even though I didn t get one of their amazing filets.... I did see quite a few people eating them and I was drooling. Next time I m getting crab cakes and a filet. That s heaven on a two separate plates.

Casual, but nice atmosphere, great food! This has become our go-to casual date-night restaurant. Live music on the weekends is great. Would HIGHLY recommend the rooftop tables!

On 8/27/16 bought my mother in from out of town and we went there and found a hair in my burger. Owner said that doesn't happen since people ware hats but that doesn't stop hair from falling. Hair nets would be more appropriate. Probably will not ever go back after throwing up. It's a shame to because we go quite often and refer people to this restaurant.

Heaven on earth!! Came from fayetteville to eat here on 5 10 19. The food was delicious!! Everything was fresh, seasoned well and absolutely tasty! I totally recommend Mannings to everyone. You won't be disappointed.

The food was AMAZING. We just moved to the Clayton NC area and trying out different restaurants. Tonight we hit GOLD. Manning's is it. The appetizer was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly the crab cakes was delicious and onion rings (OMG). I usually go to the Angus Barn for birthday celebrations but tonight Manning's have changed my mine. You will not be disappointed.

My crab cake appetizer was yummy, however, I also ordered wings to go and they were less than stellar. Instead of boneless wings, they were more like small bits of chicken breast. Definitely not worth the $10 that I paid for them.

Wow! Wow! Just had the fried liver Appetizer..... Absolutely AMAZING!!!!! We also had their new brisket burger and that was also fantastic! My wife had the shrimp and grits and that was also amazing! Our service was by far the best service we've had in a long time. This place is definitely Clayton's hidden gem and was so worth the drive from Raleigh.

Clean, friendly restaurant. Prices are too high for Clayton. Have friends that will not go because of that. The food is good but prices should be more reasonable, this is Clayton, not Raleigh.

Excellent food! We all each ordered the filet. Cooked 3 different ways, all 3 perfect! Asparagus, loaded mashed potatoes & even house salad were all yummy. We are picky eaters so all 3 of us are a challenge. Our server didn't bat an eye. Substitutions/edits were not a problem. Definate recommend!

Just moved into town were invited from our friends very great food fast service and staff was very polite restaurant is really cool environment spinach dip was our favorite everything was very tasty.

Decent location with flavorful food. Music playing was quiet enough to hold conversations. The booths are really nice. Waitresses are nice.

If you aren't going to enforce masks, then how are you handling your food behind the scenes? Nasty.

Our first visit to Manning's was last night. We dined in the rooftop with incredible views of surrounding T-storms. The servers were all on their game and we're very helpful.
My wife had the crab cakes and I ordered the half rack of ribs... Tremendous!!!! We will definitely be coming back to this gem.

The food was good, but just a little overpriced. I would go there again as a treat. we had crab cakes, seafood bisque, salad with salmon and asparagus. The salmon was ordered medium well and it came out well but still good.

Best place to eat in Clayton. The owner himself brought my husband and I desert special made to our table on our Anniversary.

Superb! My family and I had the pleasure of sharing a delicious meal at this wonderful local restaurant. The staff is happy, helpful and incredibly friendly. Being surrounded by smiling faces gives the environment of Mannings a warm and welcoming feel. Very clean, have received a 100 sanitation grade for 5 straight inspections!! Chef and owner Howard served a special seafood pasta creation that was out of this world, the blend of flavors reached perfection for sure!! We will certainly be back and would highly recommend anyone to this fine establishment!

Got soup and salad for lunch. Food was great. Gumbo was really good and had just the right amount of spice.

Awesome staff and good food. Always a fun time with great people. Great place to host a party, network event or sport event.

Awesome food and service. It is pricy but if you don't mind it you should go. It has a variety of food including southern cuisine along with steak, seafood and pork. It also has burgers, salads and appetizers. Well worth it.

Food is very good, service was also very good. The biggest negative is the lack of adhering to the mask mandate by the employees. Not a single one of the front of the house employees was wearing a mask so I assume no one in the back was either. The server we had was friendly but would touch mine or my wife's shoulder when he talked to us.

Their food is always good, however we have been there twice and the Seafood soup that is on the menu, was not available. Very disappointing ! Service was so so,.

Beautiful place, Delicious food, Great service! EVERYTHING We have tried there is fabulous. The cheese fries are perfect. The shrimp and grits are incredible. It is something you just have to try for yourself. The chocolate banana spring roll dessert will melt in your mouth. I never order desserts from restaurants but this is an exception. The rib eyes are cooked to perfection and the chicken sandwich is just perfect too. It is our favorite place in Clayton. The staff is extremely kind and friendly. Our normal waitress knows what we want every time we walk in the door. :) We are also having our rehearsal dinner there in October in their private upstairs dining area. Great job Howard. We love Manning's!!!!!
