A terrible experience. A company that has clearly grown too big too fast and are no longer fit for purpose.
They are more focused on the next fee than the job they have already been paid for. Billing is the sole focus of the business without regard for customer satisfaction. Indeed billing often gets in the way of every activity. Expect to spend time resolving billing that doesn't seem to align with the work provided, even if you paid in advance.
They were paid for various tasks and failed to complete any until they had no choice. They have a few really good people but because of the culture of the business, those people have to be focused on hourly rate at all times and have little time to build truly great customer relationships no matter how much you may like them. They are setup to fail because of the culture.. There is little accountability and every task is fragmented between a huge number of departments. We all need to be profitable of course and I like to ensure our vendor relationships arwe managed to mutual benefit but this company take a fee and deliver nothing. Intensely mechanical, as are Maltese lawyers in general, but aggravated by a very transnational way of doing business no matter how big you are as a client.
If we had stayed with this company we would have thought Malta a broken jurisdiction unfit for any sizeable business.
Thankfully we moved on and found that although the jurisdiction is not right for all businesses it is not as complicated or as crippled by poor regulation as we were given to understand.
It is inflexible and mechanical, there are many aspects of regulation which remind you that this is not a place for a large multinational however,. it is companies like this which are the issue, not the regulator
Indeed part of the attraction of Malta is that being a small country they local regulators would enable investment and be more nimble than most larger jurisdictions. . Just be careful of the flaky interpretation of due diligence and proprietary forms for share holder information which particular lawyers may use to data mine your investors. In many countries collecting the date we saw requested would result in prosecution in many jurisdictions.
