One of the Asheville originals!! Fantastic bookstore, used to be only local businesses were allowed in downtown , best way to get it back is vote with your dollar, boycott those chains, they can be found on every street corner in the rest of America! Great events here, coffee, and unique book collection you won't find anywhere else! If you want rock bottom price, and a robot mailing you the book, please use Amazon, thanks!

Such a cool little place! They allow well behaved dogs (in the bookstore, but not the cafe). The staff is always friendly and helpful and the bathrooms are always clean. They have a "blind date with a book" section, for those that are adventurous or want a surprise, where books are wrapped in brown paper with a vauge description on the front. There's also a pre-release shelf of books that are free (though they prefer you buy a book if you're going to take a book). The cafe has MONSTOROUSLY large cookies and turnovers and wonderful coffee and teas . A great place to relax, peruse, and buy some books!!

Why in the world would you want to spread hatred via your bookstore? On March 24, you have invited Jeff Halper, who is a proponenent of the hate group BDS (boycott, divest, and sanction), which exists solely to destroy the state of Israel. This group incites violence and anti-Semitic actions. This is not the kind of activity I expect from a responsible bookstore that should encourage truth and civil dialogue. Please consider retracting this invitation. Thank you.

A great bookshop and coffee house in Asheville. Though you might have trouble finding pop mass market titles, the variety of lesser-known works and publishers make this a regular visit for me when I'm in town.

I visited for the first time last night for a book signing. The event was very well organized and the staff was genuinely kind. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a local bookstore to support.

Eclectic bookshop. Creative set up. Prices a bit high but expected of a small local bookshop. Selection of books is limited. Cafe inside with good coffee. Helpful information desk and friendly staff.

Best bookstore in town. Reasonable coffee. Helpful staff. Asheville also has some good second hand bookstores including one under the same ownership as Malaprop round the back and a small selection attached to the public library next to the US Cellular centre nearby.

Really awesome book store! There are tons of books categorized out into different sections as well as a number of other cool items. The cafe is neat too, you can order a number of drinks here.

This champagne bookstore is easily the most unique and eclectic mashup of places i've ever been. it has a certain romantic feeling and is captivating. Beyond that it's located in a beautiful space.

This is a lovely little bookshop! They have a section where the books are wrapped in brown paper so you can't see the cover; they then put a brief description of the book on it. If it sounds good pick it up and buy it to know the title. Great idea. I wish there were more places like this around!

A one of a kind, eclectic INDEPENDENT bookstore in Asheville that is a staple visit every time that my wife and I visit that town. It's the kind of place that book nerds love because of selection and layout. They also feature guest author Q & A sessions and have a decent coffee bar.

I've been in love with this independent bookstore since I was a teenager. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and well read. Everything about Malaprop's makes me happy, from their book selection to their bathrooms. It's my favorite downtown destination.

This indie bookstore is one of the greatest joys of visiting Asheville. They have all kinds of books (bestsellers and new releases as well as classics and less well-known works, including a really interesting and quirky selection of graphic novels), a wonderful children's section, various book-themed knickknacks and gifts, an enthusiastic and well-informed staff, and a lovely little cafe with coffee and tea drinks and a few little pastries. I always block out several hours at Malaprop's when I visit Asheville. I hope it stays strong!

Wow. Champagne cocktails and coffee and books and live jazz on a Sunday? Okay, alright, I see you Asheville. You don't play. Mad props to you. Malaprops. Walk through the Grove Arcade, then pop into this amazing bookstore. Read a book, listen to the music, sip something that'll warm you up, and enjoy the other humans you share this earth with.

This is my favorite bookstore. I live a good two hours away, but it is a place I have to stop whenever I am in Asheville. Really great, knowledgeable staff (so you can trust the staff picks). They host book signings and book clubs. Try a blind date book (books wrapped in brown paper with adjectives written on the wrapper describing the book). Basically, they are doing everything right which is how they are thriving in the age of Amazon.

Very disappointed that most everything is open back up to the public except Malaprops. We traveled from WV and were so excited to finally visit Malaprops only to be turned down because we were not NC residents. It really put a sour taste in our mouths for Asheville as we did not feel welcome as tourists at all. So much for attempting to support small, local businesses.

This is one of those awesome, independent bookstores that make me smile. The book selection is super and interesting, with doodads mixed in. A few weeks ago, I read my book Designed To SHINE! Read Aloud Rhymes for Any Size Heart for Story Time, and I was told that it was one of the best Story Times ever...so cool! Thank you for being the amazing bookstore you are, Malaprop's.

Good selection of books and little gifts. I love their "Blind Date with a Book" section, where the books are covered in brown paper, with only a few adjectives about the book on the cover.

Big section of Staff Picks, which I enjoy looking at. Great selection, relaxed environment in the heart of a busy part of Asheville. Usually musicians outside the door. Frequent talks by authors.

This bookstore is so much more than just a bookstore! They have an amazing little cafe on the side that makes the whole place smell like delicious coffee, and a bunch of trinkets and gadgets and dewdaws for book lovers. Huge selection, well-organized, with a friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great selection of local authors, too.

Super cute bookstore. I really loved how they have a good staff pick selection as well as a banned books and "surprise buy" section. Really makes this place feel different from your average bookstore. They also sell lots of cute knick-knacks to purchase for souvenirs home. Staff wasn't the friendliest, but I was there to purchase a book, not interact with staff.

Very surprised the Malaprop's is hosting BDS advocate Jeff Halper. BDS clothes its program in the language of human rights. However they ignore human rights violations of the worst kind in Iran, under ISIS, under Boko Haram, in Saudi Arabia, but never miss an opportunity to point the finger at Israel. This is usually done by quoting verbatim Hamas and Palestinian Authority libels that make terror perpetrators victims, and ignores the actual victims of terror attacks. Moreover, if one does any research it comes to light that the BDS movement is not in favor of a two-state solution, or of peace, but rather wants a Palestinian state to replace all of Israel.

What a great bookstore! Love the staff recommendations and curated approach. I picked up a mystery-wrapped "blind date with a bookseller" which was a fun way to try something new. Definitely recommend stopping in and supporting this great local treasure.

Great!
