The territory of the observatory during the quarantine, according to the guards, is closed to residents of the city. But you can safely ride a bike or walk if it is a transit to Kitaevo / Didorku from VDNKh. Recently, there has been an active felling of trees on the territory by the administration

It's kind of cool there, they told us a lot, showed us a telescope small and large, even looked into a small one. They also told us about a hundred or two hundred year old oak ... Or some kind of tree. But I was outraged that there were statues of naked men on the wall. Because there is no 1 star

Disappointed terribly. From the observatory there is only one name and type of telescope building, which is actually a printing house !!!
The territory is abandoned. Visit just for show. Not more.

It is immediately evident that this place dates back to the USSR times. Visitors are allowed to look at Venus, the moon and Jupiter through a telescope with 160x magnification. The price of this event is 50 UAH, but I think that it is not worth the time and effort spent in order to get here.

Good history excursions with the possibility of observing in good weather (you need to know in advance) with a telescope. Only the small / portable telescope for observations - all the rest are not intended for visual observations.

Great home observatory! In my charts of the Main Astronomical Observatories now she takes first place !! How do you like this, the main astronomical observatory of Zhytomyr? Especially after the incident when they were not allowed to go there !! But I was dressed according to the astronomical dress code: a cloak and a conical cap with stars, which I had so painstakingly made for long winter evenings !! I admit, of course, that the point is my lack of astrolabe, but if you knew how difficult it is to find a quality authentic astrolabe in our time !!! All that I managed to find these miserable crafts with Ali-express and several times meanly I was deceived by insidious astro-dealers who, under the guise of an astrolabe, tried to palm off on me sectarians of very dubious quality. Advise where it is relatively inexpensive to find astrolabe and preferably a small telescope, otherwise, as a result of an unequal skirmish with employees of the Main Astronomical Observatory of Zhytomyr (GAOZh), my incredibly exclusive telescope was irretrievably lost.

The main astronomical observatory of Ukraine is located deep in the Goloseevsky forest. When it began to be built in 1949, this place was outside the city, far from the city light, even local moose could be found in the local forest!
Now the observatory functions as a research institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. On its territory there are 3 working telescopes, as well as museum exhibits. There is a museum. To visit the GAO you can sign up for a tour.

Amazes serenity and tranquility, filling the whole space around. As soon as you enter the forest - the sounds of cars, the bustle of the city and all its petty alarms recede.

In the very body of the observatory we were not allowed, we were only in the observational spheres, where the telescopes stood.

Irina was pleasant and answered all questions with pleasure. Director of the museum George Yakimovich in general very much disposes to himself - friendly, with a bass voice and unhurried manner of speech. With pleasure he tells about the stars and immediately shows them through a telescope.

We were shown Venus, Jupiter, Mars and Saturn. Then a few more double stars, Andromeda and some kind of double pulsar with a mysterious name that I forgot.

Unfortunately, all buildings are dull. Financing is very weak and buildings just live out their time. The entire staff of the observatory is only 70 people, who work at 0.5 rates. Therefore, 50 UAH for the tour - it's just an addition to the already small salary.

Great place.

Good territory, convenient to watch the planets.
Nice people who are happy to tell everything.

We came here out of curiosity, passers-by said that it is possible to walk, but the guards met us on the territory, and said that the territory is closed, so to get here for a tour, you need to register on the site.
While walking, we noticed a museum here, so be sure to sign up for a tour.

Visited the observatory grounds at the end of November. There were practically no leaves, so it was a little empty.
The entrance is closed, but it looks like I was lucky - I managed to enter.
There are three telescopes not far from the barrier, a little further the administrative building and the main telescope, which serves as a museum. You can get into it by appointment. A group of at least 10 people. Phones to record on one of my photos. Flip through.
Century oak trees grow on the territory. Impressive!
The location will be interesting for drone photography.
Overall, the impressions are good.

Visited the excursion at the Observatory, which is located in Holosiivskyi Park. The excursion was interesting, and after that we were arranged to observe the starry sky in a telescope. Jupiter, Saturn and several stars from the constellation of Swan and others were seen. Learn a lot of interesting things! Thank you very much !!

Quite well-groomed area. Two telescopes are available for excursions. If it were not for the rather large number of people in the group, it would be ideal in terms of viewing the beauty of space. The territory of the Observatory is an old park, where it is pleasant just to walk. Nearby there is an ethno-park "Pirogiv", where you can spend time for a small entrance price.

The main astronomical observatory of the National ...

The main astronomical observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (GAO NASU) is the Ukrainian astronomical observatory located in the Goloseevsky forest 12 km south of the center of Kiev (hence its unofficial name is the Goloseevsky observatory) at an altitude of 213 meters above sea level. Founded July 17, 1944 on the initiative of Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR A. Ya. Orlov. Consists of 8 scientific departments. He is the founder of the Ukrainian Astronomical Association.
Main achievements:
- Atlas of the far side of the Moon was created according to the data of the Zond-3 spacecraft survey;
- the catalog of star data PHONAC was created;
- for the first time in the world, original spectral, photometric and polarimetric instruments have been created, with the help of which the physical characteristics of the atmospheres of Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are determined;
- Academician E.P. Fedorov developed the world's first nutation theory for a model of an absolutely elastic Earth and determined the nutation parameters from observational data;
- developed a family of photometric models of comets and the physical theory of cometary nuclei;
- an automatic computer telescope complex was created to study the Fraunhofer spectrum of the Sun, with the help of which, for the first time in the world, oscillators obtained about 2000 lines of 49 chemical elements;
- open blue compact galaxy SBS 0335-052 with a record shortage of heavy elements;
- original methods and software have been developed for observing space and astronomical objects and processing the obtained data;
- A technology has been developed for the manufacture of multicomponent achromatic and superachromatic phase-shifting plates.
- GAO NASU was the initiator and participant of international programs and projects, in particular the creation of a catalog of weak stars and a photographic sky survey, the observation of comet Halley (SOPROG), the determination of variations of the global characteristics of the Sun, and also participated in the preparation and implementation of space projects VEGA, Phobos, Coronas and others.
