Waited an hour, asked why the long wait, they didn't check me in. Waited about 30 more minutes to see not my doctor who asked me if I could be visited by a med student. The med student talk down to me as if I was a child. Talk to the actual doctor and achieved nothing. I hate this place.
My health care provider suddenly went out of business and I desperately needed someone to help me. I called MAHEC and was scheduled for the very next day. The staff was so thorough and I was impressed. I would definitely recommend them to anyone in need.
If you want your prescription refills to be forgotten about and your health put in jeopardy this is the place for you. I have been going to Mahec in Biltmore as well as Swannanoa more recently and at both campuses my doctors have neglected to call in my prescription refills. After 3 reminders and requests to contact my pharmacy to resolve the issue no action has been taken.
So I got a check from this place when I was filling out the secret shoppers thing. Check from this place and the FedEx thing is different name Broadway in CA its a lawyers office. The check is legit I'm just curious why it's 2different names.
I have been a patient here off and on for several years. I have always felt like the doctors listened to my concerns and were responsive and professional. The staff are professional and thorough as well and I feel like they do a good job overall training the newest doctors the area will have. Thanks!
I have never left a bad review before, but I figured while I am sitting here on hold with them, I have plenty of time to do so now. I have never been so horrified as a patient in my life. I set them up as my primary care providers and I spoke to Dr. Coxe about a certain procedure I needed done. He scheduled it a month out. (By the way, the phone has been ringing now for 5 minutes, still no human answer.) So we set it up. The day comes when I am having a biopsy done and I get there 10 minutes early and they take me back with no mention of the fact that the doctor I have scheduled this with is not there. The nurse is taking my vitals when I tell her how nervous I am ( I have severe anxiety) and she says, "Just calm down." With the most gruff attitude I have ever heard. So I decide to just try to put on a brave face. The nurse tells me that none of the information I filled out is in my chart and the previous doctor did not add my medication. Or anything we discussed in our previous visit. (Call waiting update: they just hung up on me, no answer). Then a doctor I don't recognize comes in. And ASKS ME WHAT I AM THERE FOR. I ask where my other doctor is, she says she is Dr. Shell and Dr. Coxe went home sick. Okay, fine, but a call would have been nice. I then explain to her what I am there to do (a surgical procedure/biopsy) and she advises me that this is not necessary. I wait another 40 minutes for her to get her ducks in a row and she finally decides to do it. It was a stressful 45 minutes. After we are done, she says she will send the biopsy to pathology, but she really doesn't think it is anything serious. Flash forward to a week and a half later. I hadn't heard anything and thought I would call to see if the results were in but wasn't expecting them to be. They are. But here is the twist. I called at 9 am and didn't get anybody ON THE PHONE until 3:45pm. And they tried "calling me" with the results 4 days earlier, BUT GUESS WHAT: they wrote down the wrong phone number so left my information on a stranger's voicemail. The receptionist then proceeds to read me my pathology report, but she doesn't understand it; but she delivers me bad news anyways. News that neither of us understand and since she said I had a disease, I panicked and asked to speak to a medical professional. She told me Dr. Shell was there and would call me back shortly. I understood she had other patients, so I waited 2 more hours. The panic got to me and I called back. Dr. Shell decided to leave for the day. I held for 30 minutes while I was being told they were getting a triage nurse. They left me on hold and then decided to leave for the day. I never spoke to anybody. I try the on call doctor and finally get him to call and confirm the bad news at 8pm. BUT THEY DON'T HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS BECAUSE PATHOLOGY FORGOT TO GIVE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. So 5 days later, I am still trying to understand my bad news diagnosis and I was just hung up on yet again. Please do not go here. They do not care about their patients or advocating for them. I was very hopeful that this would be a good doctor, but they turned something stressful into something traumatic. I hope they see this, but considering the level of unprofessionalism and carelessness I have received, I doubt they will take the time to read until the end. A sad, symbolic end to my story.
