If there was a rating of below 1 star, I would give it that. This health care plan (not even insurance) is a disgrace. Local 3 of NY should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for using this company. Every other union in NYC has way better coverage than we do, in fact, Medicaid is even better than company. Please whatever you do, do NOT join local 3 thinking you ll get benefits. This plan is not a benefit it s a liability. Need to go to a doctor? MOST procedures are not covered and Most doctors refuse to take this garbage. There are way better unions out there. Medicaid is preferable to this. Also, the CEO should be let go for the incompetence he displays. I went from having Oxford insurance to this and I can say I cannot wait to drop out of the union just so I can get way better insurance

Always had alot of problems getting in touch with customer service, my prescriptions were never covered always paid out of pocket, never reimbursed, asked for ID cards more then 3 times never got mailed out.

With Local 1122, Very frustrating, bills not being...

With Local 1122, Very frustrating, bills not being paid on time, I have had to switch providers because they said they won t accept this insurance due to lack of bills being paid. Hard to get answers from anyone there. I have a lot of health issues and i feel like we are always fighting with them and providers. I wish the company would get better insurance for their employees and families and stop playing with this so called insurance company.

I am a provider and they have no live person to talk to. I have called their customer service more than 20 times but had no luck. Regardless of which menu I chose, it all lead me to the same pre-recorded message. The Email address they provided on the message does not work. No response from them even if I request for call back. It is impossible to deal with and bill. Horrible service!!!!

Well seems as in google reviews you can get more help then the customer service team. It is unbelievable that to contact a appeal agent, one must send them a letter by mail. Are we in the 60 s ? No phone number no email no mother just an address to send mail to. Well before you use this insurance make sure you have money in your pocket because if not let s just say you will be sent to a collection agency due to a medical bill. You guys need to work on your communication and update the way to contact your appeal team many of us work long hours and don t have much time to do the work you guys are getting paid for.

Its my opinion, that Magnacare is a criminal organization, and I demand the New York State Attorney General investigate.
Ive been a member of Local 3 IBEW for 43 years.
The Magnacare network is the absolute worst. In any conversation with fellow electricians about our Magnacare coverage, everyone concurs, Magnacare stinks.
As someone with a good union job who has been able to very well provide for a family of four, I am humiliated and embarassed at Local 3's affiliation with Magnacare. We are self insured, but in the old days, when I first became an electrician, I could go to any doctor of my choice, any facility of my choice and I was covered.
But this is not the case anymore, and now even as Local 3 is still self insured, we are in contract with the Magnacare network, and I can tell you the payment schedule that they want to pay doctors is rediculously low.
Magnacare pays doctors less than an electrician makes! Check your EOB statements brothers and sisters! Thats right, with all of thier many many years of expensive education and experience, office overhead and high insurance, a doctor or therapist will get paid $35 from Magnacare and $35 co-pay from the member or $70 total for an office visit. Who can live on that?!! Electricians straight time pay is roughly $108 per hour total compensation. We want to pay our doctors $70 ? Seriously?
There are many many other issues I and others have had with Magnacare, too many to write about here.
But we will see what Business Manager Christopher Erickson brings to the conversation, as it has reached a boiling point with members.It is long overdue to reconsider Local 3's relationship with Magnacare.

This place don't answer the phone, it gives you a run around.I got hurt on the job and they are not trying to cover my medical expenses now.ny credit score have dropped. I left multiple messages and no one answered or never reach back.

My husband has been with local 3 IBEW for 53 years. Back in the day, The Union had their members backs at all times. You need a specialist, no problem, Local 3 made sure you were seen by the doctor of your choice. Back then we had Oxford Ins. and the Union was self insured. When they switched to Magnacare everything went real bad, real fast. However DO NOT BLAME MAGNACARE THEY ARE NOT A HEALTH INSURANCE PROVIDER. HERE IS WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT THEY DO:

Magnacare is not an insurance company. Ther company intakes bills submitted by your doctors on behalf of employers who fund their own health plan. Our direct call centers are open all year, M-F, except Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, and New Year s Day. This is all confusing!

I just learned this today, Sunday, 7/25/21. Tomorrow I will be on the phone with LOCAL 3 to find out why they have left their members out to dry. I have been in a wheelchair for 7 years and cannot find one doctor who accepts MagnaCare to perform this very complex surgery. I am furious and want answers!!

Who exactly is screwing us? If anyone has more info please post it here. I will update as I learn from the Union. God Bless.

I don't even know where to start. But you are better off with no insurance then having coverage with Magnacare. They are useless, worthless, completely unprofessional. They do not follow through on what they say they are going to do all the way up to the lying Vice President, Mark and his stooge Doug. Employees and employers run fast and far from this company.

I'd give it a 0 if I could. They make assumptions and deny procedures without knowing a members medical history. When you try to call to gain information as to why, you're run around in a circle. The agents will say one thing to the doctor and then a different agent with contradict it.
