Had dinner out with our youngest daughter and her family, great time
Ordered a shrimp dish and recieved a bland chicken dish with the garlic over powering all of it. It was honestly a very underwhelming macaroni and cheese.
We ordered take out and were less than impressed with the quality of the food and the the pickup experience. Pick up food at the crowded bar? Come on...there has to be a better way to do it. Maybe dine in would be better but based on this experience it will be a while until I can convince my mac and cheese loving girlfriend to go back.
Lunch service could be a little slow, but the food is very good. I like their mac & cheese selection and their fish tacos
Currently on hold for 13 minutes. Wanted to try this place but not for this long a hold time on the phone. 1st impression ruined already.
Edit: 4 stars because the lobster mac was actually really good but hold times on the phone was atrocious. Made a mistake on my order but fixed it on the fly. Appreciate that.
Great staff, food, and Atmosphere. Top notch place and recommend it to everyone!
The food was good. More of a bar than a restaurant. But good
The new renovations are great and new menu items are very tasty! Also best wings around!!
Great food, great service. Lots of TV's,.... look like a good spot to see a game.
I love their varieties of mac and cheese. My favorite is Buffalo chicken mac.
Waitress was great, lobster roll ok, macaroni was over-cooked but the cheese steak spring rolls stole the show.
Haven't been in years. Was a fantastic meal. All fresh all tasty. Mac balls were really good. Chicken mac was outstanding. Great portion size too, used to be way bigger. Now quality and appropriate. That's all folks sandwich (wife ordered) was also fantastic, pretzel roll was so soft. Kids were happy with their meals too. Can't wait to go back.
Nice setting where you have a choice of sitting at a bar, which can be a little rowdy or bring your family to the dining area. Always happy with the service and food choices.
The waitress was a bit pushy with the check. We had only been there for 40 minutes and already she gave us the check without asking. I think her shift was ending.
Aside from that, the cajun shrimp and crab mad mac was delicious.
food was insanely delicious (we dont have these in Jersey . . . god i wish we did) our waitress was wonderful helpful and friendly we will definietly go again
The lobster Mac n cheese was good, but we chose to take it to go because it seemed like the staff at this restaurant wasn't really concerned about wearing their masks. They weren't exceptionally friendly either.
The food was awesome! And our Server Shanna was the absolute best she made the experience memorable we felt right at home!
Thick wings. They are huge. Great price. Very great service.
I wasn't thrilled with the quality of the food but the portions were big. They need to do a better job of cleaning the shell out of the crab
I'm a Mac and Cheese lover, and this was such a great place to go for people like myself. They had a small or large size for the macaroni, and I can say that the large is definitely big enough for two. I was able to eat about a quarter of the macaroni, and it was still good microwaved.
Excellent mac n cheese. Really great setup with restaurant on one side and bar on the other.
Fun place reminds me of college with the girls several years ago.
Delicious food, good drinks and accommodated or large group easily with a call ahead. Great time
I went here with with three other people and in the past I ve loved mad macs but this time was different the buffalo mac and cheese tasted more like bbq and the regular four cheese mac tasted bland and the service wasn t great our waiter barely checked on us and it kind of felt like we were in and out and on top of that we all got a bad case of food poisoning later that night
Great Mac n cheese not as good as Wisconsin but trying ....come and enjoy I'm a Cheese Head
OMG! This place was amazing!! They have every type of macaroni and cheese you can dream of. It was my first time there, the portions are huge, the food is to die for, mouth wateringly fantastic. Lol. They even created a sauce for me because I couldn't find one on the list that I liked!!! Kudos to this establishment and the next time im in DE...ill def go back!!!
It's fun for the kids. The food is basically pub grub, which isn't a bad thing, if you are expecting it. Overall, very normal restaurant, with a few extra special items. Worth a stop to try once.
This place rules! They a little something for everyone here!
Found a long dark curly hair in my appetizer otherwise may be not kind of food.... some of it was ok but not too thrilled after the hair incident.
Outstanding!! The vibe is super chill, laid back and the owners obviously cared about the decor!! Food is excellent!
A decent place to grab some food and a beer. Nothing spectacular but a solid watering hole.
Love the food and the atmosphere. Bartenders are the best around.
I am sad to say that I was not pleased with the Mac and cheese at all. I mean the name of the restaurant boasts a Mac and cheese specialty. I had the Mac and cheese sampler and none of it had a taste. It wasn t seasoned at all. However, I also had the honey chipotle wings and they were absolutely delicious. Maybe the name should be mad wing or mad anything but Mac and cheese. Sorry
Extremely slow service, not sure if they're just understaffed or if they had a lack of motivation but you will hardly see your waiter.
If you like mac and cheese, you will love this place.
Food was ok..had macaroni bites..didnt like..had a burger that I wanted cooked Medium and twice they cooked it well done..ended up eating couple french fries...
Great preparation and quality food. Service was timely.
Great lunch !! Food came out fast . Bartenders were friendly & attentive
For a restaurant that s all about Mac and Cheese products the waiters don t seem to be too interested in pushing the product. My first time going here and it wasn t as great as I expected it to me. I initially didn t know what I wanted so I asked the waiter for a suggestion and he just stared at me blankly. My girlfriend pointed out the friend mac and cheese balls, so I asked the waiter how they were his response they re alright lol. All and all I wouldn t go back to the establishment.
An array of tasty Mac n cheese dishes and the happy hour prices are decent
If you want food that feeds the soul...this is the place to be!!
Atmosphere is warm clean pleasant and inviting. Food is excellent and very tasty. Compliments to the chef. Friendly and courteous service. You definitely want to visit
A little bit too much stern anger, but the boneless wings were good, the Mac was filling, and it was half price Monday and the pricing was great.
Dark, seems to be a more "local" place. Decent Lobster Mac though!
Great goid reasonable prices friendly staff. I live in NY but always make sure I stop here if I'm in the area. I always wind up buying extra food to take back with me. Kids always ask me to bring back Mac Bites.
The Lobster Mac is amazing! The crowd is always great too!
Hands down my favorite place to eat in Newark. If you are new to the area and looking for a social group to join, the people around the bar are very friendly (the patrons & bartenders) and it is seriously a version of cheers. The staff have all been there for years and the passion of their work comes through in their service. The owners are a lovely hospitable couple too who are making in it a very competitive industry, no corporate here. Food is phenomenal, I seriously hoard it when I have to leave. The mac and cheese dishes they are best known for are Buffalo Chicken Mac and the Shrimp and Crab. I personally am a huge fan of the Philly Mac too. I take extra home (CT) and freeze it for later. I m spoiled on their Mac and Cheese and can t be happy with ordering it anywhere else (I tried, always disappointing). I couldn t write a review without mentioning the also very much loved walkabout rolls (spicy!), bleu balls, and their WINGS! They are absolutely perfect wings, crunchy outside, great amount of slathered sauce, homemade dressings! I love this place and come every time I am in town. 700 stars if possible.
Rob was our waiter. I'm not sure if he is new or what but he was not very attentive and seemed easily overwhelmed. Manner and demeanor were great but service was lacking. The jerk wings were a disappointment ( and also way too sweet for jerk style) the El hefe burger fell short or taste . Overall I would never go back here.
This restaurant is on Route 896 northbound. From 896 southbound, one would have to turn left on Old East Chestnut Hill Road and take the side entrance. This is a restaurant with an identity crisis. The sign on the front says "Mad Macs". A sign out by the road says "Matilda's" and there is also a less-noticeable "Matilda's" on the door, but aside from those, you couldn't tell that the building houses both restaurants. The restaurant menu is roughly half Mad Macs and half Matilda's. I wish they'd developed the Matilda's side of it more. There wasn't anything in there that was particularly Australian.
Regardless of the above concerns, I thought the food was very good. The tequila lime chicken nachos had more than enough cheese and toppings, and the cheese they used tasted a cut above the typical nacho cheese. The BBQ pork quesadillas were pretty good too. Prices, which are over $10 for most entrees, are on the high side, but in this case, you may actually be getting what you paid for. The server was also very nice and helpful, and came to check on us often enough.
The main downside right now is the restaurant is under renovation, so parts of it, including the restroom at times, may be closed off. I'd give it a few more weeks before going there again.
Pretty crap experience actually. Server had 0 charisma or personality. When my buddy left his keys on the table and we returned after 5min, the staff suggested he needed to tip in order have them returned. That's a great way to inspire customer loyalty.... 0 stars.
Awsome place, great food, awsome owner, fun, again the food is the best, home smoked bacon, everything awsome, wished they delivered at a state LOL
The seared tuna was awesome as well as our waitress. This place never disappoints!
Nice experience. Food okay. My granddaughter enjoyed it. As for me...meh
Great food, very friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere.
i was with a group of people and the burger was good but after two days we all threw up at the same time and i m pretty sure it was from here.
Food is delicious. Entertainment several days a week. They have country music on Tuesday.
We had a good time with our group but, evidently the happy hour prices have changed. They have not updated their happy hour menus.
Not a good place if you don't like obnoxious drunk people. Went in to go eat used the bathroom first had girls coming in yelling and being loud they have a gap between the stall and door someone looked in to see who I was while using the bathroom. Needless to say, I texted my boyfriend in the stall saying we were leaving and I didn't want to stay. I'm 20 so this shouldn't even bother me and it did. It's very uncomfortable and not fun at all.
Amazing Mac n Cheese as I had the Philly steak Mac and was amazing... However like most American food places the portion was amazingly large!!!
Some of the best mac & cheese I've ever had! Prices were more than fair too. Definitely glad I stopped here while visiting. If you're traveling through Delaware, I'd strongly suggest you give it a shot.
If you have up on the kitchen at this place (like me), it's time to go back! The food was awesome, got out fast & hot.
Not bad a lot of room Outdoors I wish I were a lift into pre ordering and had dinner reservations so I would not had to wait so long for every single thing that happened but it was nice to get out today for the first time
Service was good, but food took an hour to come out even though it wasn't very busy.
Always a good time there. The food is good and happy hour great, even on the weekends.
Good food. I am not a drinker but my drink was great. My special friend made it even better. The service was very good.
Great spot for trivia, delicious burgers, decent tap list
This is the last time I will go back to Mad Mac's.... The happy hour specials were misleading... The pricing for the drinks was wrong... And I would have mentioned it while I was there, however, I was there for almost three hours.. Not drinking, eating and enjoying myself... but, that's how long it took.... I'm not sure if they were understaffed, or what... But, my food came out cold... congealed cheese sauce is never appealing... our drinks ran dry a few times.... And the fastest our server got to our table was when she was dropping off & picking up our check... It's clear that customer service is not a priority... Such a shame because I used to love this place. I should have paid more attention to the updated reviews.
The food is over priced. Where I sat was so dark I couldn't read the menu and the music was loud me and my server couldn't hear each other.
