Macdonald Kinsale Hotel and Spa Reviews

My family and I stayed here for a night. The hotel had some good aspects which I will cover first.
Good:
The rooms were clean and they had good measurements in place regarding covid. The staff were friendly enough, the dinner was fairly ok and the grounds were absolutely beautiful.

Bad:
The staff in the restaurant were quite frankly clueless as they kept bringing wrong orders to wrong tables and kept forgetting about things we had asked for. The staff were also fairly clueless about the river that is actually very near to the hotel. When asked about it, they gave a guess as to where it was.
Some of the surfaces in the hotel weren t very clean, for example some of the tables in the restaurant clearly hadn t been cleaned.
The room was clean but extremely basic and this characteristic carried on throughout the hotel. It had no character and was quite dated. It was clear to see that there was no attention to detail given to the decoration of the hotel. All they did in the lobby was throw up a few lights and called it a day.

In conclusion this hotel has so much potential especially with the decor of the rooms and lobby.
They could also make the path to the river more interesting for example some potted plants or wooden chairs along the way.
In my eyes this hotel has a bit more to do to earn its fourth star.

Lovely hotel but needs a bit of work, the decking outside the restaurant is rotten in places cigarette buts not cleaned up.
The window in my room when opened was full of leaves. Most of the staff were very warm and friendly except for the girl at reception with the English accent who could not wait to get rid of you, there is a lovely walk down to the shoreline which I found out about while waiting to order a taxi when I over heard another receptionist checking in a guest.

This hotel looks like it has only opened after a long time closed, grounds & tunnel between lodges very unkept rotting board's on walkway,furniture is very dated in hotel & lodges,the carpet on lobby stairs is worn in what is a lovely space if properly decorated. The gardens & waterfall to front of hotel are neglected ,also decked area off bar could be lovely with a little TLC .Overall such a disappointing stay in a hotel that could be beautiful with such a good stunning location and some cash spent on updating.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! All staff were extremely helpful and catered to our every need! Gorgeous views from our room over the grounds and a pretty little walk can be taken down to a small beach. Food was great and evening drinks taken out on a balcony with such gorgeous views was very much enjoyed! Would definitely recommend! Only a short drive from Kinsale.

What an amazing stay we had at the kinsale Hotel and Spa, the room was beautiful, clean and comfortable, all the staff were amazing especially Natasha and Allison they couldn't have done more for us.

I don't want to be too hard on this spot, because it wasn't a bad experience staying there. It just didn't quite hit the mark. Some food was good while more was lacked seasoning and was bland as a result. The staff, although very friendly had to be coaxed into providing a satisfactory service.
The room was spotless and comfortable with a lovely view of the car park and the door did close/lock properly.

If could give a 3.5 star rating I would.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful location, great view over the inlet. Staff were good and food was very good. Will be back.

This is a beautiful location so peaceful and relaxing if you choose to stay or simply have a coffee as I did on this occasion you won't be disappointed. Perfect for recharging the batteries, and the staff are very friendly and go out of there way to help particularly the young girl that works in the bar sorry I do not recall your name but she googled how to make me an iced coffee great service thank you.
