Good selection and clean store. The owners are always so friendly! There s definitely a lot more to choose from if you want to take home a shirt, cup, etc if you visit during peak season(summer) as opposed to fall it seems.
Always a great place to grab some essentials when visiting Cook Forest.

Very nice place these people would go out of there way to help you. One time we went up in Nov to stay at the state camp ground and had no place to go because they were closed. They let us stay at there camp ground.

We rented cabins last year and met relatives from Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania. We decided to come back again the next year for family reunion. At that time they said you should book a year ahead as it is a popular place and they said they fill up quickly. We did and paid for one of the days in advance. There policy was no refunds. Since then a member of our party got cancer and was not doing well. We did not know what to expect and decided to cancel. This was 6 weeks before our reservations and the management were told of our situation. They would not let us out of the trip and did not offer to try to find someone to rent them for us. Keep in mind that this is a place that have return campers every year and people wanting to be on a waiting list. I have given this a 1 because I want people to know if you even suspect you may not be able to go the following year dont reserve it just take a chance closer to the time you are going. The cabins were clean, but one of the people in our party had to keep getting maintenance to fix their heater.

Always a great feeling to come back to this store ...

Always a great feeling to come back to this store they are in a paradise that few people ever get to experience. I can remember going there in the late 70's with my family feeling the same way. Cook Forest State Park , Macbeth's and the pale whale Canoe Rental you can't go wrong with any of these three!!!!!

If you're looking for a great place to relax or have fun. This is the place you want, Mike and his staff are committed to making you happy. Cabins are within 50' from the river. My family has started a tradition and we have been going 2 times a year now for 5 years and I will always look forward TO MY VACATIONS THERE.

We would like to thank Mike Mcbeth, and the very nice gentlemen that was working the evening of October 21, 2016 in the store who helped us. We found ourselves in very bad situation that evening and ended up without a cabin or room. It was dark, late and raining when we arrived at Mcbeths store to ask if they had a cabin or if they knew of someplace we could go without notice, They not only gave us a beautiful cabin to rent, but made our weekend one of the best camping experiences we ever had. Cabin # 22 was the most cozy, clean, beautiful rustic cabin we ever had the pleasure of staying. It was such a privilege to meet these kind people, and learn about the history of Mcbeth cabins. Especially cabin #22. I loved the fireplace, we had a fire going the whole time, day and night. We felt so comfortable, we hardly left the cabin. It was so fun and very relaxing. We appreciated the wonderful hospitality, and will be looking forward to visiting cabin # 22 and the Mcbeths again in the future.

Best regards,

Frank, Cassandra and Lorra Carnesali

My review is just of the country store! My husband and I were staying at a lodge down the road, and we stopped at this place while driving by just to check it out and ended up being really pleasantly surprised!! We had fun going through the "souvenir" side, picked up some snacks on the store side, and one of (I presume) the owners was kind enough to walk back with us to the wine shop in the back of the property so that we could sample some Cook Forest Wines and purchase a few. The wine store was locked up because of an AA conference either on site or nearby, but he was super friendly to us and I really appreciated him taking the time to let us try several of the wines. We ended up purchasing 3 bottles because they were so good! We grabbed some quick grilled dinner at the little restaurant, and it was cheap and tasty. The property is beautiful, and I definitely recommend stopping by if you need anything. They did have trouble with their CC machines (and the ATM machine) so come with cash.
