Kit-Wat Marina/Motel/Restaurant Review

The view from our room was nice, the room was dated, shower dripped constantly, bed was hard. I.suggest bring your own pillows I always bring mine not one to.sleep on pillows that are flat.

Best place i have stayed at while in sauble. Specially the rooms with kitchens.

Rooms are basic and dated, restaurant is very understaffed and food not impressive, but the staff try their best and are very friendly and helpful

Beautiful and peaceful riverfront location, and it s only a five-ish minute walk down to the beach. The rooms are simple yet charming and squeaky clean. The restaurant offers a small indoor dining room that s always nicely air conditioned on hot days, and a riverfront patio with both sun and shade. The food is home cooked and delicious (especially their all day breakfast) it s a perfect place to bring younger kids out for a nice sit down meal - the staff are always super friendly and extra accommodating to kids.

The patio overlooking the Sauble River is a great place to enjoy some food in the sunshine. Kit-Wat Marina rents paddle boats and canoes if you need to work up an appetite. The food itself was really good and reasonably priced. The people on staff were lovely. Oh, and did I mention that the view from the patio overlooking the river is fantastic?

We like the place, very close to Sauble beach (walking distance) and where it's less crowded. Also gets to canoe and or kayak for free around. The food from the restaurant was good too. Liked the fire pits to make smores. Only thing we didn't like about the place is the shower; very small and sort of broken shower heads. Hope they have changed it.

Staff very friendly and helpful rooms very clean well kept good fishing right off the dock would go back every year love my time spent there

We love staying at the Kit Watt Motel! The owner Jackie and her staff are very friendly and accommodating. Great atmosphere.

Service was terrible, waitress told us 3 times she ..didnt come back to check to see if everything was ok ..i oredered liver and onions w/with bacon..no bacon on liver, no gravy on liver or mashed potatoes, were completely cold..forgot gravy too!! No apologies!!.my friend had nachos and the cheese wasnt even melted and underneath the nacho chips were all broken..WHEN I WENT TO THE OWNER..SHE STARTED TO ARGUE WITH ME AND SAID SHE SAW THE NACHOS AND THE CHEESE WAS, MELTRED..AND WHEN WE LEFT SHE TOLD ME TO NEVER COME BACK..AND WE SPENT $60..AND STILL LEFT A TIP FOR THE WAITRESS..I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE WITH THE RUDNESS OF THE LADY..END OF NIGHT SERVICE SHD BE THE SAME AS MORNING SERVICE...she must make alot of money at this place to tell people not to come back!!

Location and owner = Perfection. Free canoe and kayak for clients. 3 minutes walk from the beach. Great and cheap breakfast.

Breakfast okay... a bit pricey. Why is a side of bacon almost 7$??

Regarding the restaurant: We all enjoyed a late breakfast. The food was absolutely delicious, including the coffee! The service was top notch, and the restrooms are immaculate as you can see in the photo. Thank you very much to the staff at Kit-Wat. We will be making plans to return next time we're in town.

Passed by yesterday. The owner was super helpful . Best service we ever found . If you are looking for a nice place to stay with amazing views and spectacular customer service, this is the place to go . We will definitely be back

We come here every year for a meal and each year the customer service had gotten increasingly worse. The food is never great but this time there was a mouse running around on the floor while we ate. I wasn t too disturbed but my mother is afraid of mice and we had to make a quick exit. Instead of offering any apologies or kindness, the extraordinarily rude woman at the cash (older with short blonde hair) accused us of lying (so ridiculous) and refused to adjust the bill (we hadn t even finished our mediocre meals). The owners came and *also* refused to believe us and decided they had to interrogate our 6 year old son instead because kids don t lie . Of course he confirmed that we saw the mouse (because we did - who makes something like that up?!). After that they just stared us down until we left. Hostility, crappy food, and being accused of lying. We will absolutely never be back. It s sad that these folks get away with treating people so rudely because there s no competition. The location is absolutely the only thing they have going for them.

Nice little place right on the water. Take out a canoe or kayak for free in the early morning for a smooth paddle down the river and then head across the street to the grocery store to get food to grill for lunch. Free use of gas grills and the restaurant will even provide you with plates, utensils, and grilling tools. Walking distance to the beach.

Very nice place we visit every year to get away from busy city. Will come again next year.

Didn't stay at the hotel, but stopped by at the diner for breakfast! The food was delicious and the staff were so friendly! 10/10 would come again!

The KitWat motel is a nice little place away from the main beach. The location on the river is excellent and the patio where you can sit and bbq and have a campfire is great.

The restaurant is fantastic with great food and service, there is a seperate patio for the restaurant and it so nice to sit there and watch the people on the river while you enjoy a super meal. KitWat is the only place we eat now when we come to Sauble. Try the deep fried ice cream it is really good but you need to share it with a few people. :)

Our room however, was not that great. It was small and had no amenities, no phone, no coffee maker not even a clock or a radio. It did have a mini fridge which was nice. The room needs some updating and the bathroom, well what can I say the whole place needs redone.

The bathroom was the 70's olive green colour and there was not even an outlet to blow dry my hair. The toilet seat was so worn that the paint was all peeling off, the toilet ran for a long time after flushing it. The tub did not look inviting to shower in. Don't get me wrong, the room was clean just way to outdated.

The bed was a bit hard and BRING YOUR OWN PILLOWS!

The walls were so thin we could here the fellow next to us talking late into the night.

I agree with the other people, the staff were friendly and the place was clean and well kept, just in dire need of some updating, which I hear is being done.

We will be back sometime but we will ask for a different room.

Still an excellent spot to relax by the river and watch the sunset.

I thought I already did ok so we came in late after everything food wise was closed with my nine years old daughter and the owner was very understanding and made us the best notchos and it was cozy.the next day the view in the morning looking over the river was breathtaking. My parents had a cottage on the sauble river we cherished it then and we cherish it now even though it's a motel it feels like home I recommend kit watt to anyone who wants to experience the river magic night time is tranquil and no party animals lol

Always a great place to meet and eat. The meals are homemade and always fabulous. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Wonderful place for family holiday or weekend get away.

Came here for a bite to eat. Friendly staff, and decent food. The location is beautiful, right on the water and I plan on coming back for a stay.

3 couples stayed while riding motorcycles. It was the off season so the restaurant wasn't open however they offered to cook us breakfast if we put in our order the night before. Great place, quiet, fire pits, gas grills, picnic tables, and more. Rooms were alright although the shower could stand to be updated some. We are all planning on visiting again but staying the whole week this time. The owners were very friendly and would have coffee on for us every morning around 7:00am.

Located 4 km far from the town center it is the perfect location for every traveler that is looking for a relaxing place. The room was clean and the bad was comfortable. Every room has a beautiful view on the river. The restaurant serve delicious dishes for a good price. All the stuff was friendly.

Have been here many times over the last 30 years or so. Never been disappointed and plan on returning again. The rooms are clean and the owners are a pleasure to deal with. Just a short walk to the beach, (who doesn't need a walk now and then?), and the amenities are reasonable.

Great drinks, even better service! Burgers are the best! Beautiful spot right on the water! Definitely worth going when your in Sauble!

Stopped in for breakfast with some friends. Nice patio, good service, and good food.

A decent pub/ family dining with awesome home made fries and friendly staff. The patio has a lovely waterfront view. The price has increased from the menu on their website, but still reasonable. Will recommend.

People who cleaned gave rude stares, while people who stayed there were really nice.

As a former employee, I have nothing but the highest of compliments for the management of the Kit-Wat. They're been working incredibly hard to renovate the motel, restaurant and other out buildings over the past 2 years, all done by the owners themselves. My former co-workers were all GENUINELY nice people who sought to provide the best sevice possible. Not a sour or surly person among them.

As a former guest, the rooms can't be beat. It's the only motel in Sauble on the water and it really makes a difference. Fishing and watching wildlife on the river are the two biggest draws of the large docks available for guest access. When you're there, keep an eye out for the egret!

Overall, I couldn't have been happier with my time at the Kit-Wat, as an employee and a guest.

Great place!! We only ate there but we have to say the food and service is great!! The first time we had pies ( which we highly recommend) and we had to come back for more! The servers are very friendly and kind, they also bring stuff really fast. We were at sauble for 2 weeks and we went there at least 4/5 times. Probably the best restaurant in the sauble area.

3 stars is perhaps a little low...

I was out touring backroads on my motorcycle, mid-September, when I tripped over this riverside lady, just north of the summertime resort town of Sauble Beach. Looking around the property, I imagine this as a 50 or 60 year old family business that has held its own in the ebb and flow of seasonal business, sending the kids to college with a little left over for a nice personal home.

The room I stayed in was tired, well overdue for a refit, the restaurant was closed, and a seatboard broke under a fisherman on the dock bench seat as I walked by. But they do a lot of things well. There are riverside tables, benches, umbrellas and BBQ's for cooking up dinner and socializing. Boat slips, canoe rentals get you on the quiet river, minutes from Lake Huron, with a marina next door.

The location is amazing, at the north end of the run along the Huron coast, the south end of the run up the Bruce Peninsula, and 3 hours from Toronto on the Hockley, Creemore, escarpment run. A great spot for a group moto stopover, or out for a week of sailing.

As I started it up in the cool morning, I looked at the freshly paved parking lot and I imagine the boss diligently improving a piece here and there as can be.

The joint deserves to do well.
You get good value for your money.
Book early.

Nice view of the Sauble River but the food quality is just not there.

It is a wonderful trip, I spent 3 nights in summer. the big dock is a perfect spot for fishing. I got 11 basses and 1 walleye. most are more than 5 ponds.
The river view is also nice. walk to the beach is only 10 minutes.
Also I like the food at the small store in front of the motel.

Superb location overlooking the water and the small marina. 5 minute walk to the beach and 5 minute drive to the beach and main street of Sauble Beach. Bbq, campfire sites and picnic tables available to customers. Very pleasant! I will definitely come back. Only downside: the rooms are rather old which means that they could be a little cleaner and better insulated against noise from neighbors.

I would not give even a star...the worst place ever.. DIRTY ... horribly dirty... i did not dare to use the shower... we booked because we read all this good reviews but the reality was sad..spider webs everywhere... they should pay attention to cleanliness especially with this covid situation

Very nice place, friendly and welcoming employees, very clean room. Lots of perks such as: barbecues, kayaking, canoeing and a beautiful view of the water. I will be back again for sure.

Beautiful location and customer service is the best. The attention to detail with sanitizing during this troubling time was above and beyond - making us feel very comfortable with staying at the motel. We have already booked to go back in a couple of weeks. Great for couples and families.

Service in the motel and rooms are standart but... The location of motel and lookout view are amazing: quiet Sauble River and nice marina, free kayaks, canoes and bbq. We had pleasure of easy trip by canoe to Sauble Falls! 100% recommended!!!

Ok place.. But food was very over priced... The DNL restaurant had better food, with larger portions, and they were $25 cheaper than KitWat for our family of 4.

Quiet and welcoming place, smiling and friendly waitresses. The squares offer a sublime view of the lake. The meals are home made and delicious.

We have stayed in both a motel room and the one bedroom housekeeping cottage. At both visit we often had a meal or two each day in the restaurant and the delicious home-style food is served in generous portions by friendly, knowable wait staff.

The rooms are comfortable, suitable for singles, couples and families. Situate on the Sauble river, the Kit-Wat Marina Motel & Restaurant offers many aquatic actives as well as being a short drive to the famous Sauble Beach and Sauble Falls. A nice quiet place to stay

Great location at a great price, facilities could be improved, like coffee machines and microwaves were not there in the rooms, however, overall a great experience. We will come again.

We chose this place for our honeymoon as it was in the perfect location. Room opens to the river, the sunsets are amazing. They have a fire pit, gas bbq, paddle rentals. Like this place was just awesome. Restaurant closed due to covid but we went to the local store and BBQd steaks. No complaints. The paddle rentals were my favorite part as we paddled up the river to see sauble falls. Definitely recommend this place. We will come back next year.

My family and I found this amazing place on accident driving from the states to the Peninsula and so glad we did! Beautiful spot, my kids could kyak and feed the ducks right out our door. Beautiful waterfall within minutes to visit. Restaurant right on the spot and the hospitality and kindness of ALL staff was second to none. I couldn't give this place enough stars.

Reminded me of simpler times. Very clean and super friendly. Every night many of us would use the bbqs provided and socialize with other guests. Very relaxing. Beautiful river.

Location is great, a 5 minute drive to the main strip. Kayak and canoe rentals are included in the stay which is a bonus for us. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast is very good at the restaurant. Rooms are clean and recently renovated.
