I was looking for a reputable oil supplier for my new home and learned the previous owner used Lykins so I decided to give them a shot. I called and they signed me for automatic delivery to make sure I never ran out on a cold night.
Having never had an oil tank before, I didn t know to shut off my furnace when the oil was being filled up, causing about $300 in damage to my furnace. I found it odd that Lykins didn t warn me not to do that but ultimately chalked it up to my own ignorance of oil heating systems.
They charged me about $700 for the first fill up and I started doing more research on oil heating systems to avoid another costly mistake. I called again and asked to be notified before the next oil delivery and began to check my oil level more regularly. 2 months later I found another $700 bill tucked in my garage door access panel. The furnace broke again; I called to see why they never called, they apologized and I was stuck with a freezing house for 2 days until the repair man could come again with another $300 bill. I cancelled the automatic delivery service and said I would monitor my oil and would call if I needed more oil. Fully intending on switching oil suppliers
About a month later, another $700 bill was tucked in my garage door access panel. I called and they said their was a mixup but that even though I didn t order the oil that I was responsible for payment. I asked for proof that my tank was empty or that they filled it entirely again, I was told they don t need to prove it.
Not sure if the other reviews of this company are from real customers but I can say I m not very happy at all with the service.
Homeowners with oil heating, I would recommend staying as far away as possible from Lykins. (If you value your hard earned money)
1 winter as a Lykins client: $2,700!!!
