Not a huge fan of some of their volunteers attitude & "customer service." Pretty rude and when I came in with questions, responded as if I was bothering them. Wish my experience was different because the cause seems great.

I have many wonderful things to say about this establishment, but I will try and refrain from rambling.
We have been boarding our special needs dog (severe separation anxiety, particularly if not medicated) at Luna's House 3-4 times a year for ~5 years. We were very worried at first but our dog Hurley, quickly took to the friendly, warm staff and seems to be comfortable and happy during his stays there (of course he still loves us most). One thing to note about Luna's House, is that they do not charge extra for each medication that needs to be administered; which keeps costs down for us since Hurley takes ~12 pills per day.
We feel very lucky to have found a place to board our beloved pet where his care takers genuinely appear to have his comfort and happiness in mind.

I appreciate what Luna's House does. I even had a monthly donation. I was told by a friend, who is a volunteer there, that there was a place for a dog. My father had a serious accident and could no longer care for his dog. Guess what, Luna's House denied him, based on his age. I don't understand any kind of policy, that will discriminate on a animal based on age, gender or breed. Shame on you. Essentially, you had a spot open for a dog, but are waiting for something better to come along. Ridiculous.

My boyfriend and I adopted a little lop bunny female from Luna's House to bond with our male bunny. We had tried 3 different bunnies from a different shelter and were forced to return all of them because our boy would not bond with them. At Luna's House, Lisa not only sat with us and personally made sure we had a good match before adopting but also answered many emails from me when the bonding was not going perfectly. When we were concerned things were going south, she even took both bunnies in and bonded them for us! Our bunnies are still with her being bonded but they have made so much more progress with her than we could have hoped. Luna's House has gone above and beyond in making sure our little bun has a partner and we're thrilled we adopted from here. We're so excited to bring both our bunnies home and give our new little lady a forever home <3.

Extremely difficult to deal with. Employees are confused and contradict each other. They are very disorganized and can take days to respond to you. Walk-ins are not wanted, appointments only. They have strange rules like I can't walk a dog I am meeting. Their building is a converted office and is not appropriate for an animal shelter. They are one of the most expensive rescues in the area.

My boyfriend and I were interested in adopting One year old female cat named Hazel. The adoption process is pretty basic with an application process. They are closed to the public on Tuesday s and no walk-ins. . At first everything was fine. The volunteer that took us back to visit with Hazel was very nice and you could tell she was a true animal lover. We then decided in that moment that we would also love to adopt her her brother brad in order to keep them together. We were set on this and the volunteer took us to the front and told us to speak to the only volunteer sitting behind the desk at the time to finish the process and to let her know we would also adopt Brad. We walked up to the desk and the Volunteer completely ignored us. So my boyfriend said excuse me ,and she ignored us again. So he said excuse me and she said Yes as if we were bothering her. We let her know what we would like to do and she just said ok. She was vey short with her words, irritable, and apparently bothered that we were asking her questions. I then called and sent two more emails and was told that unfortunately they would not be able to adopt either rescue. I m sorry, I am totally for volunteer work, especially with animals. The lady I m describing is heavy set with brown hair and has a small bull ring in her nose. This is a corrected review where a volunteer gave me an incorrect name. The president Lisa Randall told me that the person originally named by a volunteer was incorrect but still has not emailed me back the correct name of the rude woman at the desk that my boyfriend and I dealt with

My cat Penny Purrful does NOT like having her nails trimmed. Luna's has a wonderful groomer, Suzanne, who is experienced at handling cats and dogs. She sees walk-ins on Sundays from 12 to 4, so I take Penny to her. They are near where I live and we are in and out in no time. Great alternative to me wrestling with my cat. Plus the shelter gets a portion of the very reasonable fee, so everybody wins.

They have a a wonderful staff, the animals are extremely well cared for, and it's super clean. I love that they have foster families for pets who need to find forever homes, and I recently adopted one of them. They conduct a thorough check on potential adopters which I appreciated.

I adopted my dog Harry from Luna's House in 2011. The adoption process was very thorough as they want to make sure the dog and prospective owner are a good fit. I also board Harry there and my experiences have always been positive. The volunteers are well trained, the owners are personable and extremely dedicated to their cause and the volunteers are very conscious of Harry's feedings and dislike of being crated. For those who were dissatisfied with their initial contact with the organization, I really hope you give them another chance .

Owners who really care about animals and sacrificed a lot to make this place happen. Please dont buy your treats and toys from chain pet stores that treat animals with cruelty. Buy them here and support a good cause and feel good about helping this great place out!

We adopted a six year old Shih Tsu, Mikey, about seven months ago. The adoption process was rather intense; an in depth application, then a home visit, and then wait for the "committee's" decision. (We were told that it's a committee of nine, and that all members had to agree.) We were notified about a week later that he was ours. We received three phone checks after he came home, about a month apart. He is so attached to us already. We are thrilled with him. We also were impressed with the lengths that Luna's House goes through to insure the animals fit and safety. Thank you so much!

Adopted a little boy bun for my little girl bun . Facility was clean and well stocked, the animals looked happy and healthy. Obviously any shelter is a wonderful thing. Just the attitudes of the humans was terrible. Every phone call and email had an attitude behind it and honestly I'm glad the process is over.

Well I would have loved to adopt a dog, but I was told I m not allowed to view any of them and I can only look at pictures online. Wasted a day trip out to this place. Oh well, humane society is close by at least.

We had never adopted before and were not sure what to expect. But we were so happy we went here. The photos of the cats on line were up to date. They had so many great pictures on line that really helped us. We saw a fur baby that looked exactly like our last kitty and we had to go see her. All volunteers here so they accommodated us coming there to see the kittens. I can't believe they all volunteer their time so selflessly. They allowed us to stay as long as we liked. All the cats play and are in a safe friendly, fun environment. We fell in love with our new cat and her sister!! So we applied for both. They answered our questions and asked a lot of questions to make sure the cats were going to a good home, which I respect. They had to call our vet for records and stuff. I think including the weekend we had the cats in 4-5 days. I thought the facility was really cool. It was HUGE. They love and take care of so many different animals there. We wish we could have taken in more cats. There were two other cats that really wanted us to take them home. So many were sooooo cute. Please go adopt these cats. They need loving homes.
Thank you Luna House. These sister cats will be very loved and went to a great house. We appreciated everyone there that helped us. We would highly recommend Luna House for adoption of animals.

Luna's house is an amazing facility with amazing people you should definitely consider adopting animal from there you will have your heart stolen. Also if you are considering adopting an animal from there pick an older animal they are just as cute and deserving of a good home as a younger animal. And if you cant afford a pet you can still donate time or items that will help the pet. Overall lunas house is an amazing place with people trying to make a difference. You should definitely check it out.

It was great to understand more about lunas house animal shelter. They were able to give us a tour of their facility. But you have to be willing to be a volunteer. They only give you a tour on their orientation. You have to be willing and able to volunteer and be serious about it.

They refused my husband and I a precious baby kitten named Oreo, which we had our heart set on all evening in Pet Smart yesterday. She said we could not adopt bc of having a previous pet declawed, which I had no say so over, it was years ago and happened when I was like twelve. She referred us to the Human Society for a cheaper pet. My husband is in the Army, and I'm a stay at home wife, and we just wanted to add to our family, but Luna rather keep Oreo locked in a cage instead of giving it a good home. She is rude and judgemental and why God made her a Shepherd of all animals I have no idea. She broke my heart and hope in giving a Oreo a awesome home, and for that I will be forever resentful, and have to give it to God. She wasn't apologetic in any way very quick to get off the phone, just mean. Shame on her. I just hope Oreo goes to a good home.

My wife and I adopted a wonderful rabbit (lily) from Luna's house and had a wonderful experience with them. They do require you fill out an application, want to talk to you and meet you before letting you adopt the animals for the safety of the animals and to make sure that you will leave with a companion that is best suited for you. The staff are wonderful and we continue to support Luna's by going to fundraising events. We have seen the dogs, cats and small animals waiting for adoption and all are well cared for and are just waiting for the right person to adopt them. We would recommend Luna's house to anyone looking to adopt.

The crew at Luna s House is incredible! We first discovered Luna s House several years ago when we just so happen to run into the founders at the grocery store. After passing each other in several aisles and sharing excuse me s and other pleasantries you share with the people you keep running into at the store, They told us they created a no kill sanctuary for all animals not too far away from us called Luna s House. Something about them and that moment struck me and We were like RIGHT ON! How incredibly awesome is that?! In the next aisle I pulled the cash out of my pocket and gave it to them.

That s the back story. Ever since we take our dogs to Luna s House for Grooming to get their hair and nails did. A spa day for sure! When we get the chance to go on vacation the boarding is fantastic. So much so our Gus, a Cha-wennie, (Chihuahua and wiener dog mix) supposedly hardly touched the ground cause everyone was fawning over him. Haha! Which Gus just loves anyway. It s like having your besties taking care of your kids!

The volunteers and staff are just great, and totally helpful! Aside from dogs I have big allergies to every animal on the planet. It s just great. Can t breathe, hives, poofy eyes - you name it, it happens to me. So the crew helps me out by taking care of everything while I stand outside the front door. Kinda lame for me but really, How awesome is that that they ll come out to me?!

Luna s House is truly AWESOME! Their mission is incredible. Totally thrilled we discovered them!

Both of my dogs were well taken care of and super happy when we picked them up. Everyone we were in contact with was warm and caring. I won't hesitate to board them at Luna's House again

I called to surrender baby guinea pigs. I initially left a message with all the details and my phone call was returned the next day, asking to call back at my convenience to answer a couple more questions. When I called back, I spoke to a woman who simply and politely asked me some additional questions about my pigs. She then asked why I haven't considered neutering my male pig. If you know anything about small pets, you would understand how dangerous it is to neuter them. I do, however understand the predicament I got myself into, getting both a male and a female. We were excited to have babies! But re-homing them was another story, so I called Luna's house. The surrender fee was not unlike most shelters, in that, I mean, the price wasn't crazy to bring them in. However, near the end of our conversation, I was spoken to in a very rude manner. I understand and respect that most "employees" here, are volunteers. I'd hope that each individual would be trained to treat customers, whether surrendering or adopting, with the respect and dignity they deserve as human beings. In no way, shape or form, do I think it's fair to be judged and treated this way, over the phone or in person. I have carefully considered my options and I would rather keep my babies, than to PAY to release them into your care. And not only that, but then to know that this rescue will preform neutering on a small animal, which could cause death. If you really need $30 that bad, I'd rather just give them cash and no animal for them to experiment on. I'm not here to prove that I am right, or correct or better. I'm just suggesting that these volunteers be aware that not everything will work out perfectly for everyone. Whether it be cat, dog, bird or small animal. If you treat people with respect, you will in return, get respect.. and probably better reviews and word of mouth.

I wrote a message requesting the adoption rates for small birds. I also pointed out a couple of deficiencies of their website (no adoption rates listed, adoption form rejected but filled-out fields not saved, meaning user has to type in all 30+ fields again instead of just the one incomplete field)

I received a very snarky response back. And I still don't know what their adoption fees are.

[Note, of the five positive reviews (versus five negative reviews), the positive review from Luaure Dotterweich is from an employee/volunteer responding to a review. She is not a customer. It is telling that going back three years, there are four positive reviews and five negative reviews.]

Luna's House animal care and adoptions are handled...

Luna's House animal care and adoptions are handled solely by volunteers, unlike a humane society that has paid people there regular hours. You need an appointment so that there will be someone available to introduce you to a dog or cat, etc. I find this rescue to be a wonderful place to volunteer. All the volunteers I've met are great people who love animals. Please check out their website and call to make an appointment to see an animal you are interested in adopting. You will not be sorry! Please remember that everyone is a volunteer and doing their very best to help the animals find wonderful forever homes.

1st time ever boarding a pet, so i was quite nervous. I called Luna's each day to find out how my pet was doing- oh everything was aok. The day i picked my pet up, the staff was shocked that i was there to p/u pet (no forewarning phone call), I was handed a garbage bag of all of his bedding and toys -soiled with urine and stool. My pet smelled of urine and stool was smear on his coat. My pet was a puppy but had never had a stool accident in the home and only a couple of pees. to say the least I WOULD NOT TAKE A DEAD RAT TO THIS PEOPLE. I WAS SO STUNNED ALL I COULD DO WAS GET MY PUPPY AND GET THE HECK OUT OF THERE. SO I WONDER IN 5 DAYS DID THEY EVEN LET HIM OUT TO DO HIS BUSINESS OR JUST LET HIM DO THE BUSINESS IN THE CAGE AND WALLOW IN IT FOR 5 DAYS. IN MY PROFESSIONAL I SEE AND TALK TO ALOT OF PEOPLE IN ANY GIVEN DAY AND BELIEVE ME I HAVE TOLD EVERYONE I COME IN COTACT WITH THAT HAS A PET NEVER TO USE LUNA'S.. I WAS A PAYING CUSTOMER, I WONDER REALLY HOW THE HOMELESS PETS ARE TREATED THERE.??????
