Great Mexican food. Everything is delicious. The atmosphere is great. Service is great. They always have good beers on tap and make excellent margaritas. They have a late night happy hour and server for relatively late by Haleiwa standards. Can't recommend Lui's enough.

This place is great! Had the El Americano burrito and it is the perfect size and tastes amazing. The restaurant i's happy to help you customise your order and the customer service is very friendly and prompt. They also provide bottomless beverages and corn chips so you always leave on a full stomach

This is the only Luibueno's location to visit. The staff here is incredible and attentive. We received wonderfully delicious complimentary chips and salsa, and got many refills before getting our entrees. They have incredibly delicious 64oz margaritas (either on the rocks or blended), which you have to share, and my favorite is their li hing mui margarita (which comes with a li hing mui rim). Their fish tacos are incredible, and I loved the ceviche. It was regarded by everyone at the table as the best Mexican food on island.

No go if local. It's a haole only joint. The staff give better treatment and let's the haole's trade money for better service.

No aloha! Should have haole only sign with a locals to the back arrow. I will never go back to let haoles walk all over us locals. No go if local, our kine not welcome....our money not haole enough for them.

Shame on this place. Only pretend to have aloha....no good. Haole only!

Great place, great food. This is a great little mexican food place on the north shore. The steak tacos were perfect, the place is clean inside, very nice owner. Excellent salsa!

Update: Been 3 times and the food is still great (shredded beef enchilada is amazing). Service has been good as well (not great, but still pretty good)...for some reason food comes out at different times rather than all at once for the entire table...sometimes they're a bit slow on refills, etc.

My 1 complaint is this: Price. Stuff here is really expensive. $3.75 for an ice tea or glass of coke? I can buy a 12 pack of coke for that. Queso Fundido (appetizer) is $11.50 but you get a very small portion of it. Kids meals (include drink and ice cream) or $9...not horrible but not great. Two beef enchiladas with rice and beans are $17.95. Should be half of that because it's not a ton of food.

Lui, you've GOT to do something about the prices. Meals are all a few dollars too high but at the very least knock the drink prices down $2 each. I want to keep eating here every weekend but with the high prices I think this will be a once a month place at most.

Great Mexican food, Flavoured, light, clean, and fresh. Our server Chelsea was efficient and nice. The atmosphere is good, and the salsa is a little spicy. My favorite Mexican on the island.

First of all the location is great. The north side of the island has a vibe vary different from the rest. It's worth the drive to enjoy this place. Some good food; fish tacos are good. Do the beer battered and you won't be sad. All in all worth the trip.

Food was on par with average Mexican food. Quesadilla was FULL of chickens and very tasty, guac was as it should be and the tacos came out perfectly. 4 out of 5 stars because it was a little crampt in there.

Excellent margaritas made however you like them. Excellent wine list for a Mexican restaurant! Ask for the back room specials. Good food, I've always gotten the gazpacho. We haven't had the fish yet but have heard it's fresh from the local marina. And it's next to Clark Little's gallery.

This was THE BEST Mexican food we have ever had. (And my wife is part Mexican). Everything about this restaurant was perfect. We had the shrimp taco, ahi taco, and tostado, and they were all fantastic. The shrimp taco was HEAVENLY! Go and try it.

I had the beer battered fish taco and the regular fish taco- al Carte. Words can't describe how mouthgasmic the beer battered fish taco was- either the sun from the beach has me delirious or that was the best taco I've ever put into my mouth. I'd fly back to the island from the mainland just to eat one of these damn scrumptious tacos. Five stars. Service was fast and food is priced well. New favorite island Mexican spot. My wife and daughter enjoyed their meals too. Home run.

Horrible customer service. I had called to place an order to go- Kat had transferred me to the bar to place my order, but they hung up on me instead. I called back to try to place my order again, but was put on hold for over 10 minutes. Decided at this point, the food isn't worth it. Thanks Luibueno's, Kat the host, and the bar staff that can't answer the phone for to-go order's for the disappointment! Will not be trying again.

Excellent Rib-Eye Asado.
The bartender said it was good and boy was she right. 14 oz. of deliciousness. The marbling was perfect. Started out with a spiced Hibiscus Margarita that was to die for. The chips and salsa very good. Very good darft beer selection. Great bar to eat solo at and the local bartender shares her great story of migration from Socal in the 70's. Brought the wife home the local fish ceviche and fresh greens salad with cilantro vinaigrette which she really liked.

Stopped in for an early dinner with our toddler, it has a nice atmosphere and is loud enough to cover toddler giggles and screams. The food was pretty delicious and the service was friendly.

Always a great place to check out when in Haleiwa. Great margaritas and even better burritos! Can't beat the M-F happy hour from 4-6pm and the late night happy hour from 9:30-10:30 every day! Oyster shots and mexican street tacos are sure to start your evening off right or fill you up before hitting the hay after a long evening. Salud, Lui!

I felt the food was prepared in haste or lack of care. Very bland and low spice level for a latin restaurant. Bathroom was beyond expectational level of dirtyness. Staff was rushed and rude as well.

The only thing satisfying about going here was the service. Very nice and informative waiter. My ten year old and I were the only ones who ate the brisket and we both got food poisoning. Made our vacation in paradise a horror.

There are limited food choices on the North Shore, but this place has good Mexican food at decent prices (for Hawaii). I'm from California so I know good Mexican food when I taste it ;-) We even saw Jack Johnson last time we ate there. If he can afford to eat anywhere and he eats here, it must be good, right?

It's SO good. Mind-blowing-good. It is some of the best Mexican food I've ever had, and it might also be the best overall experience at a Mexican style eatery that I've had on Oahu. I've had JJ as a server on 4 of our 5 visits, and he's awesome, too!

Food was interesting but when we got our bank statement, our $7 tip on a $37.70 bill had become a $19.63 tip. I didn't think our server, Jayne, was that good.
Contacted the manager and it was credited back in a couple of days. Don't know what happened but they took care of it.

Always get their tacos... better than most places in southern Cali. Although there has been times i order the blackened Ahi and it is not rare like it is suppose to be, it's still good however just not as good.

This place is garbage! Refried beans looked like dog food! If you want good mexican food go to Taqueria El Ranchero...That place knows how mexican food is suppose to taste ! The best thing was the chips and salsa!

Not kidding I've tried in at least 12 countries and this paella is the best.

My food was really good. When we lived here before the location was Rosita's Cantina. I really like all the hard work the owners put into the remodle. I didn't like the mild stomach cramps about 40 minutes later. Over the next 5 hours the cramps became so severe I cried a couple times. I thur-up 5 times. I haven't barfed in about 2 decades... I barfed up chicken enchilada. O' yes I did.
I'm from Cali and the food tasted just like home. Ok.. $18.00 plate with the smallest serving of rice and refried beans ever! I normally pay $7.25 back home maybe $9.00 back home. That's O'ahu for ya.
I did call Wahiawa General to add my name to the list of sick people from Haliewa so if it's more that a dozen they can inspect the place.
Funny thing is I was doing recon for the Chef De Cuisine position. Didn't call the owners yet.

This place would be better if the employees werent so upset with each other. If your gonna complain about your co workers do it in the back not behind the bar. Other than that food was great and drinks are weak

The greeting staff was incredibly friendly, but we sat for nearly ten minutes and no one came to our table to ask us what we wanted.. Considering there maybe five other families there, it was hard to find justification for the lack of attentiveness by their wait staff. Not to mention they were busy conversing with each other. The menu looked intresting enough but I'm a firm believer in quality customer service and first time impressions. Wil not return.

I don't think there is any good Mexican food in Hawaii. Why does everything need to be sweet?

But that's ok. I don't think this place is meant for people like me who are going back to where there's good Mexican food next week.

I did my internship from culinary school here at this hideous joint owned by a couple of nazis. Minimum wage slave owners. Atrocious sanitation practices with food. I wouldn't eat here if it was free. Nice location, however.
