A huge lotus fan for many years and since the first Elise S1 - including classics (though a little old for me). Have owned and own several including last favourite 2-11.

Had arranged for a visit to see Lotus and their history and facilities - compared with the other marques - Lotus falls into an enthusiast category and as such its not up to the league of other companies we visit. The goes across everything from facilities to staff. We felt everyone we met here was 'at work because they had to be at work'

Tour and talk was fine and the track was fun. You can come here for specific Lotus driving events booked in advance and as per their calendar. We intend to be back for one such event

We talked about the Evora 400. When and why on earth so long to launch an open version

I started working here in 1969, the same month as Tony Rudd, ex BRM etc etc whom I got to know.
I worked on sub assembly, P5 production line and road test.
I was 21 years old and it was the best job I ever had.
Good money, hell of an atmosphere and the camaraderie was wonderful.
We were like one big family.
Unfortunately I had to leave after six years, too many redundancies that would probably have got to me eventually, I was newly married (big mistake) !!
I loved the job, I didn't want to leave !

When preparing for open days, it was our job (Road test dept) to bring out the old F1 cars and be towed from the hangar into the factory to put them on show. Celebrities met included, Pete Murray (TV and Radio), Miss World (Austria), Shirly Anne Field (Actress) and Prince Michael of Kent (Unemployed) !
To anyone whos'e just started there, be proud. You're a 'Lotus Man'. It's a badge of honour.
Good memories !

I had unloading at this company and then loading empty racks. It took about an hour. Wheelchair and employees very nice, everything went very smoothly. Although the company is quite large, there is not much space for trucks.
