Lone star Albany Review

We just had Fathers day lunch here. What an awesome experience. Food was fantastic and HATS OFF to our server CHRIS! He was amazing! Wow! He was so friendly, polite and super efficient! Thank you CHRIS! Just sad to see the gratuity we added to the bill was not charged. We really wanted to thank him!

Tonight eleven family members, celebrated my granddaughters 13th birthday. The service we got was amazing by the staff. We were thrilled with Michael who served us. he was outstanding. Always a smile nothing too much trouble . For myself, Jenny the Manager was terrific, due to surgery couldn t eat a lot, but Jenny talked me thru what I could eat, took a big strain of me, putting together a small meal. Which was just what I wanted.
Would we go again, sure would, all our meals were terrific, the staff made it such an enjoyable experience . Thanks guys . Have neat Xmas .

Was sad to find out the lamb shanks are no longer on the menu but the lamb shoulder was just as good if not beter!

Mainly big meat meals but some excellent veggie options too. Very helpful staff.

Good but getting quite pricey these days for what it is. Always busy but service is generally very good.

Food and portion size were good, but meal took an hour from time of ordering.

Good size family restaurant you can enjoy delicious meals. I particularly enjoyed stake menus in spite of its cost pressure.
It seems reservations should be essential.

Certainly one of the nicer Lone Stars in the North Island, we were seated and served surprisingly fast for a Saturday night and the wait staff checked on us reasonably frequently. The food was good, although unfortunately the steak was over-cooked and didn't taste like a very good cut of meat. As with all Lone Star restaurants, it's a very expensive meal, but with the quantity of food you get, you won't be leaving hungry

Great food! Stuffed chick breast was superb. The whisky was not part of the dinner!

A bunch of high school students doing a work experience with the memory of a goldfish. Meat was great. So many staff but someone forgot to tell them about the big picture.......Service. Shambles. We had a table of 20 people served by Paris that disappeared after taking the orders. The starters where places like cat food at the cattery. The mains came out like the drunks from a bar and the desserts were forgotten like the anzacs until someone mentioned it. No apologies, no attention to potential paying customers ......get it together loanstar

Whilst not bad by any stretch, Lone Star in Albany is average. The staff do a good job, and were friendly and quick. The interior was quite dark though, and not especially comfortable, and when we visited it seemed to be quite cold. On the plus side, the food arrived quickly - but was definitely average in terms of quality. Overall, could've been better.

Great steaks at great prices! The Texas tornado cocktails were a highlight too

The food and service here is good. I have had the steak before which is cooked well and a chicken dish which was also nice. There is quite a wide variety on the menu and the staff are always friendly. The desserts are really yum and there is lots to choose from for the desserts as well.

I am a long time customer of Lonestar. But I am eating there less and less.

My steak was massively undercooked. And the cut of meat so poor by the time I had cut out the gristle and fat there was not much of the tasteless lump less.

My father's burger so over cooked he could not cut it. And did not find it tasty either

Wtf has happened to the bread loaf.

I don't quite understand why this has slipped so far. And 8pm on a Friday night the place was empty and most of the customers that were there where on some kind of discount voucher

Went to lonestar Albany last month with my family. They never bought our kids desserts out even after reminding them 4 times. Made a complaint to the owner who looked a bit lost and he didn't do anything about it. And guess what, they charged me for my kids desserts!

Ordered fish... smelled fishy and tasted rubbery. Also scales not removed properly. Unpleasant in the mouth. If you're going, give the fish a miss.

Some good quality foods on offer with a wide range to choose from

My wife had dinner at the albany branch of lone star and I was less than amused to see a credit card surcharge considering she paid by eftpos, I did inquire and was told that if she used paywave that the charge was related to that, funny that their advert for themselves is stay staunch and considering my local pie shop has paywave free, it seems like they have their priorities all wrong, talk about penny pinching.

Huge wait to get a table (they don't take bookings). Huge waits for food. Average food for big prices. Would never come here if it were my choice.

They forgot about our meals and served food to tables that came in an hour after us. Wen we asked they realized and no apology. Not goin back

Service was unusually slow, seemed that staff were spread too thin. The wait staff were, however, great when we could get them and are the main reason we'd go back.

Food was not very good. Weve had much better from other lonestar restaurants. I think they have altered the recipes here. Not the best.

Amazing menu. As far as restaurant chains go, this one is great. First port of call for me and my group of friends to book dinner for birthdays.

Great service... really friendly staff. Generous portions + the yummiest desserts in NZ!

Very disappointed with my meal, ordered the Ranch salad. What I received was a plate of spinach leaves, a smattering of feta, 3 halves of cherry tomatoes, 4 cashews & a few bits of red onion. Hardly deserving to be called a Ranch salad. I even complained when I paid the bill & the lady agreed that it was not a great deal.

Always good quality and atmosphere and service.

Need to improve service regarding waiting for tables during busy periods. Twice now, have waited for over an hour and seen other larger groups arrive and get seated before my group. Booking doesn't seem to help either.

Awesome meal and friendly staff. Love the music, a nice change with some good old tunes! Very busy place yet dinner arrived quickly. The aircon inside was a welcome reprive from our lovely long summer! Cold beers and aircon on a hot summers day, what more could you ask for.

Love this place. It does a great job on birthdays for my wife, my boys and I. Great food and very family friendly. They can get quite busy which can mean a long wait so best to get in as early as possible. Staff are great too.

Cold shity loaf. Cold chips that had sauce on them like was leftovers .. unimpressed. Good staff tho

Great lunch time vibe. Good soft spoken waitress. Great food. Good drinks. The fish dishes are really really good. Not the cheapest places to dine but really tasty food.

There were 6 of us dining, i booked a couple of days in advance and emailed my request to make a meal more keto friendly which was not a problem. It was quite busy when we arrived at 6.45pm and we were warned that there would be a bit of a wait on mains, we arranged a couple of entrees to share. The squid rings were delicious very light but tasty with a light coating and tasty sauce. The chicken nachos were also nice the only minor surprise was that they did not have the option to have a non spicy version as the sauces were already premixed, the dish was still received well and demolished by the crew but i myself did not try any.
Our table had 2 x Gerhard Burgers that came with Fries, the keto friendly meal of Seared Salmon and comanchero salad without the chicken and croutons, A Prawn Star meal with rice, A pork rib meal with coleslaw and chips and a Wagon wheel platter.
Everyone enjoyed their meal!
The portion sizes were very hearty.
The keto meal was delicious, fresh Salad very tasty, fresh Salmon cooked well and very satisfying.
The prawns were delicious coated with a nice blend of chilli and garlic.
Mum had the smaller main of ribs and loved the succulent meat covered in sauce with still enough to share.
Then there was the wagon wheel platter from the bar menu that had a range of chicken nibbles, ribs, fish, crumbed chicken and chips perfect for the whole table as an entree or a couple to share with a side salad or coleslaw.
The two men at the table had the burgers and enjoyed their meals and some of the others.
We were given a $15 voucher and being a couple of birthdays the birthday boys were given complimentary T Shirts.
You are getting what you pay for here and the Albany branch was very clean, lovely and warm with a nice casual atmosphere.
The staff were all young, friendly and clearly work very hard to keep everyone happy. Thanks very much team and compliments to you all for a lovely evening. We will be back.

Opened up late. Only one person to serve clients. Really not what we expected.

Great service with friendly staff. Meals were excellent. When ordering steak 'blue', that's what we got. Thank you for a nice evening Lone Star Albany.

Always great service and food. Great family place. Kids love it.

Our first time here was through the first table website, 50% meals so why not?! Although the majority of the safe seem young, the do a fantastic job and are always happy and polite. This is the main reason we have kept coming back! The atmosphere is energetic and fun. On one of our visits, the place was packed, the staff were running around and yet still maintained the good vibes. We caught the manager once when paying and asked her how do you keep them working at that pace whilst still having fun?! We are slowly making our way through the menu and will do a review on the food next time. For now, love the service here. You have a great team with a great leader.

Charged us for a 2nd $62 bottle of wine that was not delivered to the table. Service was poor had to keep asking for water, cutlery and finger bowls.

Seems wrong giving a place called 'Lone Star' more than a single star... But going to have go to with 3stars - met expectations

Great food if a little expensive. Helpful wait staff

I got served a scotch fillet instead of the eye fillet, was cooked ok but the deception left a bad taste in my mouth. The staff were all congregated and socialising by the bar which was 2 metres from our table - not cool. They have also put their prices up dramatically ($43 for rack of ribs and chips if I remember correctly)

Food was amazing. I would have given 5 stars if the review was based solely on food.
All the waiting staff were very friendly, but our waitress was just inattentive. My husbands order was wrong. Then tried to blame it on him for ordering wrong.
Also didnt provide the wine with the main course. I had to remind her. Then when I asked for an English Breakfast Tea was told sorry we have... Listed the teas, then said English Breakfast. Just inattentive.
The rest of the staff were attentive and helpful. Overall a great night.

Average. Not value for money. Better nachos at the food court. Ribs like beef jerky covered in sauce afterwards, fries and coleslaw extra $. Considering the competition for similar food around them too think they would up their game. Service was friendly.

We felt food quality has gone down than last time we visited lone star, Albany. Also waitress never offered us water, when we asked after meal she gave us. It wasn't not the usual lone star experience.

Great ambience. Staff are really responsive to children, nothing is too much trouble. Meals are large and tasty. Prompt delivery of meals.

Service upfront was good. Few issues placing order. Drinks and entre arrived quick but then had a 45 minute wait for mains on a half full resturant. Mains come out with a mix up on one of the orders. Steaks had no seasoning which made them a bit bland. Main burger was half cooked. Otherwise ok.

Busy. The food was average but the service needs improvement. Taking this into account it may be considered overpriced. Probably would not go back but is popular.
