HORRIBLE to deal with and very unprofessional! It was NEVER explained to me during my 2nd Medicare appeal on my mom's behalf that the initial end of coverage date for financial responsibility would still apply! They called me after 5pm today (Friday) to let me know they have declined the 2nd appeal and that we would be financially responsible for my mom's care after yesterday. While I was telling their representative that I should have been told that while putting in my 2nd appeal, she kept interrupting me, getting emotional, and was very unprofessional. I told her she should at least let me finish my sentences, keep a professional tone of voice, and that her rudeness was making me upset. I proceeded to ask for a supervisor, was put on hold, she came back and told me a supervisor would be right with me, I was put on hold again, then the call disconnected. The representative had called so late that when I called the SNF my mom is in to see if they had a Medical bed available for her, all of their administrators, social workers, and case managers had already left for the day. With the weekend starting, I probably will not be able to talk to anyone at the current facility which means we have to pay out of pocket for days Medicare will not cover. Like I stated HORRIBLE service! The representatives should at least call with appeals decisions BEFORE 5pm on business days so families can make necessary decisions and be able to speak with facility administrators about options. costs, etc. Very unprofessional!

Very Bad Service handling Medicare complaints. The company only addressed two of the poor medical service complaints. The two complaints dismissed had wrong information. The company refuses to properly investigate bad medical service complaints when asked to reopen the closed complaint. Livanta needs to be fired because it puts Medicare patients at risk with it's negligence.

I was totally unprepared to have my mom come home from the healthcare facility she had been in for 2 weeks recovering from major brain surgery.
Livanta gave me 2 days notice, on a Tuesday, that her coverage would end that Thursday, and she would need to be out Friday morning.
I scrambled looking for an acceptable home healthcare residence she would fit in comfortably, and after checking about a dozen places after work, I finally found a good one about 15 miles away.
Since I work daily, I was unable to get her ready for the move, and assist with getting her settled in.
I asked Livanta to grant me 1 extra day before they terminated her coverage, so I could be there with her on that Saturday to assist with the move, and coordinate transportation, etc.
They denied my request.
I realize in this day and age that healthcare coverage is marginal at best, but I found this to be appalling.
If you or your loved ones are ever in the position to have to ask for an appeal from Livanta, expect no sympathy, only a cold shoulder. They should be ashamed!

Horrible experience! Denied my mother nursing home care after she broke her pelvis and after two and a half weeks in the nursing home rehab - she still is unable to get up and go to the bathroom, get out of bed, and walk unassisted. The nursing home rehab is good - she just needs more time. It is unsafe for her to go home and Livanta is denying her service. How can this be?

That's the problem, we have created this problem by allowing our Healthcare in this country to become a business, a for profit business. How do you make a profit with sick people. It's not a business model that any investment banker would invest in.

As the ACA costs more and more tax payer dollars cuts will happen insurance rates will start rising in the double digits. There have been many of these companies that ultimately wound up being sued because the quality of care isn't there. Because it costs money and sick people cost money. We need a single payer system and eliminate crap companies like this one.

Company should be terminated. Have having serious problems getting proper treatment. Their only response was we can't make a doctor do anything. The Medicare representative was shocked. They are not ensuring that providers treat patients with minimally adequate care. I am very sick and they don't care. Went first through Medicare, then Medicare ombudsman resolution then Livantia. Why isn't this function internalized within Medicare and not contracted out to private for profit company. Wast of taxpayer dollars.
