This Hy-Vee is always popular but still pretty easy to get in and out. The fresh meat counter is the bomb!

This is a great place to shop and eat. The store is well kept and clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. The salad bar is top-notch and is my favorite and you can't go wrong with HY-chi!

I want to give a 5 star to Hy-Vee. The staffs are always friendly, and it's a relaxing and a pleasant place to go. I always appreciate how they treat customers. I think that reflects the tenet of a company, which is reliable and warm-hearted. I especially want to praise Manager Kevin Kisling and A.J. Stanley, because they treat the customer considerably and whole-heartedly. They are treasure to have for the company.

Not enough checkers this morning. Had to scan over $150 of groceries in the self checkout line. It took a long time and had several issues with scanning fresh fruit and vegetables. Also, scanning envipco rebates requires external assistance, which should not be necessary.Very disappointing.

Went at 11 at night and there was no one to help me check out.

Hy-Vee is great. Employees make the store. Best place for wedding cake and an excellent value too in my opinion. Fantastic bakery, expansive buffet and hot foods, Post Office, Dry-cleaning and they even deliver your groceries. Wow! And they sell gas. Definitely a conglomerate. Is there any service that they don't offer and they do everything well. Employees are well trained, polite and friendly.

I bought flowers and was promptly greeted and provided the assistance and advice I needed. I got a good deal on beautiful cut flowers, too!

Pros and cons. The store is dirty, floors, conveyor belts, and sometimes worker's clothing. Baggers don't ask if you want paper, they always ask if you found everything but it's rhetorical. Prices are high and its mostly hyvee brand items. They are working harder on local and organic than they used to. They have a ' health market' where they deposit most of the organic products. Makes you wonder why they don't label the rest of the store, unhealth market. If they would put all like items in one place, it would be a better shopping experience for comparisons and efficiency. If they were actually committed to health, they would remove candy, soda and junk from the check out aisles and quit promoting highly processed products with additives and preservatives. The bakery is typical white flour sugar Crisco products. Very good beer selection with lots of micro brewery options.

Great overall product selection and outstanding staff! Currently being remodeled. Rearranged and difficult to navigate right now but should worth it when compete.

They are pricey but it is worth it. The freshness is refreshing! The customer service is inpecable! The store is clean and bright. I love the store hours. They are open 24 hours a day. Love this store!

Hard to find things sometimes, but the pre-packaged food is very good

Like the accessibility from my home although they don't carry my all the products Des Moines stores do exp. Kalona jumbo brown eggs(best eggs in state from a store). And does not have the newer style resteraunt.

Poor service, poorly stocked shelves, they expect you to check out your own groceries, the store doesn't close until midnight but they start blocking off entire sections of foodstuffs at 10 pm.

They have a great store and I love their sushi. I have dietary needs and they have vast variety of food for a great price. It is so conveniently located but a shame they now close at midnight

Too expensive but some of their prescriptions are cheaper than wal mart

The other day I went to this place and waited in line to talk to the baker. I wanted to know when they would put out the discounted donuts which I had gotten two nights before. While waiting, the woman baker ignored my girlfriend and I for about 5 minutes because she was working on the cake. Several times she coughed ON THE CAKE. She did not make any effort to cover her mouth. She even made eye contact with us. That is completely ok since I didn't ask for assistance yet. But a man walked to the very edge of the counter where you aren't supposed to go, and she went straight to him. He proceeded to tell her that he was just looking. She then waited another couple of minutes before getting to us. (Continuing to spew germs on the cake she was working on) She then told us that they had never had any such thing as discounted donuts at the end of the day and that we were lying. So we went to the manager at customer service, where they told us that they do indeed put out discounted donuts, and then were shocked and horrified when I said that that woman was coughing on the cakes and other items. HOWEVER, They did NOT fire her or seem to actually reprimand her. The next day I went in thinking "Hey, the manager probably talked to the bakers and they said that baker doesn't work today!" And I was dead wrong. She was there and she was still coughing.

Today I tried to return some shelf almond milk. Almond milk does not go bad if it is not refrigerated. The customer service employee told me that they won't let me return their almond milk.

DO NOT EVER GO HERE. THEY ARE LIARS AND CHEATS AND HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH COUGHING ON YOUR FOOD.

As for the reviewer that said that her cake was excellent... hope they didn't cough on it too much.

Adequate supply of foodstuffs of high local standards

Its a grocery store with a decent selection at good prices. Good selection in the liquor department, and they have a Starbucks, just in case you need some caffeine.

We hired Hy-Vee to cater our wedding reception and were blown away with the service, food, and prices. Hy-Vee was the only place in Ames that offered affordable food with healthy choices. We got a spring mix salad instead of the iceberg lettuce other venues were offering, as well as fresh steamed veggies that our guests devoured. Throughout the night, we heard from many guests that it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. People loved the herbed pork and Millionaire mashed potatoes. They were super easy and friendly to work with, happily provided alternative meal options for vegetarian and gluten-free guests, and took care of everything related to the food so that we didn't have to deal with it during our reception. Perhaps the biggest hit of the evening was hot chocolate we purchased from them. We were just expecting a large dispenser of it, but Hy-Vee brought whipped cream and crushed candy canes for garnish and all the kids at the reception went crazy for it. We highly recommend using them for any party, as their professionalism, service, and food is surprisingly tough to beat!

Could not find a couple items at other stores. Found it here. Thank you for always having my needs. I come from out of town to visit family,and like the selections I find for mybstay.

This place is great for all you grocery and home needs

Reliable, good selection, and Hy-Vee is always up for trying something new. However, for basics, I would rather shop at Aldi's due to much cheaper prices and a streamlined selection..

This was the first time I ever been in a Hy-Vee store. So, I have nothing to compare it to. Anyway, it was your typical grocery store. It was very clean, organized and friendly cashiers. I did had small hiccup... I purchased a fresh cooked pizza that costed $7.99, but the cashier charged me the wrong price. She weighed the pizza instead of entering the correct price. Long story short...I took to the Manage to get the different and end getting all of my money back. The Manage stated if the item is changed incorrectly you get the item for free. All I can say is "THANK YOU".

Friendly people, but prices are not always the most competitive. They offer rewards to make you think it's a better deal but the rewards don't add up to the savings from shopping at other stores most of the time.

I went and made a special trip,from out of town to mail a pkg, and their postal station wasn't working.i think they should have posted a sign on the entrance door,would have saved me from hauling my pkg out of my car,into the store anyway...i wasted an hr of travel time, gas money..but the lack of the sign saying postal station is broke...thats the straw that broke the camel's back for me.
